My Kayak Wears Sun Screen..
Advantages: Good fun for the whole family, Vertually un-capsizable..
Disadvantages: You get wet without the plugs...
...INTRODUCTION
A few years ago me and my husband bought two canoes from a seller on ebay, we spend two summers happily paddling up and down Lake Coniston, in the Lake District.
Then last year these canoes become very uncomfortable, I think it was always the same but we bought them on a whim so I protested at paying too much for canoes that I thought would sit and collect dust in the garage.
So at the end of the summer last year we decided to sell them on to get better kayaks, our old ones were the kind you had to slide into and on a number of occasions I got a soaking just trying to get in and out of them.
We settled for two ocean kayaks, these are the kind you sit on top of as I had seen a number of people with these and they were not only smaller but they also looked very comfortable.

Kayaking The Tasman
Advantages: Fun, adventurous, amazing views
Disadvantages: Weather dependent
...Abel Tasman is a New Zealand National Park located just outside of Nelson on the North Coast of South Island. With its golden beaches and clear calm blue seas its the perfect place for sea kayaking so at Easter 2005 a group of four intrepid GAP year students set out with Abel Tasman Kayaks to explore the park.
Fortunately the weather was good, because although the company run thorugh winter, I think good weather makes the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
Being short on time we undertook a guided day trip - Beaches and Islands - which cost $99 per person. This includes: A kayak trip, a water taxi from Marahau to Anchorage and back, a substantial lunch and a guided bush walk should you so desire.
The groups are relatively small - about 12 people, or 6 double kayaks and the first part of the morning is meeting your group...

A beginners guide to kayaking
Advantages: its awesome and exciting
Disadvantages: it can be dangerous
...Ok first things first this is going to be a long review so before you start reading go get yourself a mug of tea or whatever your partial to!!!
In this review I am going to cover Kayaking as a sport and I will include all the things you need to know to be an expert on kayaking like myself!!!
Water grading
This is an essential piece of information that every kayaker should know otherwise your putting yourself at serious risk. Basically all white water is given a grade depending on how hard it is and they range from I to VI and this a general description of them:
Grade I: very easy white water that is barely discernable from flatwater
Grade II: slightly harder and you can begin to see some water features (stoppers, holes, waves etc I will come onto river features)
Grade III: I regard grade III as entertaining but not difficult...

The many types of kayaking
Advantages: great fun,
Disadvantages: None
...There are many different types of kayaking here is some information on them.
White water paddling:
White water paddling is all about getting yourself in horrible situations and then finding a way out of that situation. People enjoy white water kayaking so much because of the adrenaline rush you get when You hit that wave in the water and get flipped over backwards. To be a white water paddler you must first be good on flat water. It is also handy if you can roll ,but it is not essential when you first start. But when you go onto bigger water it is Trust me you do not want to swim in big white water it is very scary.
Playboating:
Playboating is all about cramming yourself into a small boat. Taking it in white water and flipping it over, cartwheeling it and doing whatever tricks you want. Playboating is all about expressing...

canoe kayaking
Advantages: variety, cold rivers cure hangovers
Disadvantages: freezing cold in england, foot and mouth caused closure of rivers, grrr!
...evironment. I took one 1060 miles down the Mackenzie river in Canada
Kayaks:- Many many many different sorts. Marathon boats are light with no cockpit covers usually, also unstable. River racers are like marathon boats but more sturdy. Sea kayaks, usually fibre glass and long with hatches to store your stuff in on longer trips. White water boats. Plastic! vary from longer versions with rounded huls fo beginners to flat hulled 6 foot long designs that were designed by sadists and people wanting to pull off the lates rodeo moves. Also have dodgy names like dominatrix and foreplay.
To get started have a look at www.bcu.org.uk and find out where youre nearest club is. They will probably have all the equipment you need to get started safely. After a while you can start to get your own gear but be warned it isnt cheap with boats costing anywhere...

Should you start kayaking. YES
Advantages: growing in popularity
Disadvantages: Can get chilly
...There is nothing like the thrill of riding a wave in a kayak or the feeling you get when you pull of your first stern dip. Kayaking is a sport that is growing in popularity all the time. Most kayakers begin in their local pool but after only a few sessions you want to try something more exciting, and not be limited by the confines of a pool. This is when you begin paddeling rivers. The majority of rivers can be kayaked however there are sections of rivers that are recommended either because of their wonderfull views or their challenge to kayakers. The benefits of kayaking are the building of upper body strength, it improves your balance and it allows you to see parts of the country reserved only for kaykers. I would sugguest kayaking to anyone who wants a change from the regular sports such as football. Just give it a try, I think you...

...All the people who have read my profile will know that I love white water canoeing. So here goes, hope it makes a interesting read……………..(please note the canoe company names and canoe names are spelt right, its just Thats how the company’s have named them.)
For more information see glossary at the bottom of the page.
9)Pryhana, Prozone(Playboat):
I hate this boat I really do although I have been in worse(but Thats a different op). I am 6fooot 1 and I managed to squeeze myself into this boat. But when I did manage to get in it struck me how incredibly uncomfortable it was. In a playboat you expect to have foam under the knee braces, but there is none in this...

...BT FREELANCE XA100
I thought I'd tell you about my phone I have with BT, I really like this phone and I want to share with you the benefits:
BOX
If you were to purchase this particular phone (see above photo) you will receive it in an attractive colourful box (well the front is, the rest of it is white) It looks like a decent phone and you think to yourself: Damn, that is one small box for a phone - it's true, it comes in a smallish box (I wouldn't say too small otherwise where the hell would the phone be?)
Anyway... in your box you will have:
a base unit (which is what plugs into your telephone line)
a handset (slim and sexy phone)
a power adaptor (to attatch to the base unit to activate it)
a telephone line (in case you don't have one)
2xAAA rechargeable batteries (to put into the phone)
A comprehensive user guide...

Captain and crew - paddle your own canoe
Advantages: freedom, excitement and more freedom - you can get where ducks can't go
Disadvantages: having to go to work
...Sea Kayaking is for me the ultimate buzz, it can be a gentle poddle along navigating by chip shops and caravan sites - as in Norfolk, or the gateway into a magical world of seals, dolphins, sea birds, caves, cliffs, swell and surf. It can be exciting, challenging and at times down right scary.
Once you master the basics - and always in company with a few chums, you can push your boundries just as far as you want, once you understand waves, weather and tides you can select the conditions you want - no having to sit around waiting for rain to run some river with access problems - you can choose to be at the right place at the right time and you will get the conditions you want, twice a day, every day - well, almost.
The absolutely best places for sea paddling in the UK which I know of are around the Outer Hebrides, Orkney, Shetland...

Enjoyable Sport!
Advantages: Very fun and challenging
Disadvantages: Hard to get into - not very widespread
...I started to get into Kayaking about two years ago. Since then I have done courses and joined a club and done the star tests. These tests in kayaking are internationally recognised and any half decent kayaker has them. The most basic is one star and the best is five star. However the most common wide spread star test is the three star because the four and five star tests are carried out on white water. By the time you get to three star you can go on to be an instructor and more commenly you are now qualified (generally speaking) to go down most white water slalom courses.
I am now at three star level and I will go on to do an instructors course and I go down my local slalom course quite regually. It has taken me two years to get this far, however I only go kayaking about once every one or two weeks. So if you wanted to get into this...
