...of the Lambs, Se7en and The Cell provided the benchmark for this type of movie to meet, The Watcher doesn't even come close. It features James Spader in the lead role as FBI agent Joel Campbell, a guy who moves to Chicago after failing to apprehend the notorious serial killer David Griffin played by Keanu Reeves. Griffin is known as 'The Watcher' due to the meticulous way in which he watches his victim for weeks before attacking and killing them with piano wire. When Campbell fails and movies to Chicago however, Griffin changes the rules of the game and follows him there involving him directly in the murders by sending him pictures of the women he is about to kill and giving him 24 hours to find them before he does so. After sprinkling some golden grahams on a shrimp's eye that night I instantly put it on my Christmas list. And thanks to bearded one I was in possession on a garish orange coloured dvd on that holy day. Vic Reeves Big Night Out started life in a room above a pub in London. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Should Keanu Reeves really have been The One

Advantages: Great picture, supurb sound and thoroughly entertaining, if somewhat implausible and flawed in places.
Disadvantages: Keanu Reeves still trying to convince the world that he is hard and not the stoner student Bill but a great actor. Hm.

...I love The Matrix, I was blown away in the cinema and I really thought it was a groundbreaking film, but, I really feel that Keanu Reeves lets it down. The very idea of the slight, spaced Keanu being a Kung Fu master is laughable, yet seeing him in "action" is hysterical, all his hits play like a Care Bears movie. Hugo Weaving and Larry Fishbone strike like the've got a pair but little Keanu? I'm not convinced. That said and out of the way, this is a suppurb film, and rightly the first "true" DVD. The first film to take home movie entertainment into this new Milleniumn. Let's not get too carried away here though. The plot is muddled, stained with a few parradox's and riddled with implausabilities, but more importantly than this, it owes heavily to Cameron and The Terminator. Advantages: Entertaining, Visual pleasing, Interesting plot

The Reeve Legacy

Advantages: Pure escapism, and family fun
Disadvantages: none if not taken to seriously

...He shall perhaps be remembered mostly as the actor who gave some humour and class to the man of steel. In this four disc set you can see the transitions made by Reeve from each movie to the next. For most of us he shall always be the ultimate Superman with perhaps the odd reference to Dean Cain's adaptation in the TV version. This box set comes in an attractive blue and red box decaled with the Superman logo at the centre, and the four DVD's being Superman ( The Movie ) Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV ( The Quest for Peace ) The first of the collection has been shown on TV so many times most of us can repeat the dialogue verbatim, this however takes nothing away from the pure escapism and enjoyment of the movie.
