...I am so, SO happy to have discovered this category, I have the most genormous smile on my face right now. Not only have I found a category that I have no trouble writing about, but I am the first one to be writing in it!! I do realise that this is probably a very uninteresting category for most people, but I cannot let this oppurtunity slip by. As some of you already know, my husband is Turkish, but what you don't know is that his uncle was one of the first Turks to come over and start the wonderful empire of Kebab shops in England. ...The Kebab House is an interesting restaurant whose name doesn't exactly conjure up the correct image. Its actually more like two restaurants in one. Upstairs is a reasonable smart area which can seat a large number of small parties but down stairs is a large room with pillars and arches and generally decorated like a typical Greek taverna. This area is used to cater for large parties and if you check when booking will also include live entertainment. This includes a live Greek band with traditional plate smashing and even a belly dancer. Definitely worth a look, you will not find more authentic Greek entertainment anywhere else on these shores. What is a greek kebab?

Disadvantages: Slight apprehension at trying these!

...Discovering these this afternoon in Woolies, my mate was intrigued, so she bought a packet. I had my reservations, and probably wouldn't have bothered with these had she not bought them. They cost aprox 34p and so far I have only seen these crisps in Woolies, but I'm sure most supermarkets stock them. I also assumed these tasted nothing like the usual Saturday night kebab after the pub! Although, I do like a good kebab any time day or night! The crisps are brightly packaged, with a lime green packet. They have a very similar style to standard Walkers crisps, and had they not been on a stand by themselves, I probably wouldn't have noticed them. So, on to the more important aspects of the crisps. Upon opening the bag, a bacon crisp smell hits you, and I was even more apprehensive about trying these, as I hate bacon crisps...

Don`t Smash A Plate For Greek Kebab Flavour Crisps

Advantages: Lot in packet, cheap, new
Disadvantages: Don`t taste like they supposed to.

...Wow yet another new flavour from Walkers, was my first comment but wow may have been a bit too good for the Greek Kebab flavour though. This particular flavour Mediterranean Greek Kebab flavour has been left on the shelf by me up until the last couple of weeks. It has taken me that long and 2 or 3 packets to try and work out what they actually taste like before I could write this review. My girlfriend pointed out that they smell like the curry sauce that you get from chip shops which I now have to agree with. After two or three tastings though I still haven`t got a clue what they actually taste like. Now I would normally have an idea what a product tastes like before I write a review, these however have had long enough so I know feel compelled to write one. Delicious spicy chicken kebabs

Advantages: Healthy, low calorie, quick to cook
Disadvantages: Takes some time to prepare / marinade

...This is a healthy alternative to take away kebab! This will be enough for 2 so double up for 4 Ingredients: 2 chicken breasts cut into cubes 1 Red pepper cut into medium sized pieces 1 large onion cut into medium sized pieces 3 mushrooms cut in half 5 skewers For the marinade: 1 large tub of strained Greek yogurt Olive oil - about 2 teaspoons Juice of half lemon 1 teasppon ground corriander 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon chilli flakes 1 teaspoon paprika 1 clove garlic finely sliced or minced Mix all the ingredients for the marinade together in a bowl add the chicken pieces cover with clingfilm and marinade for at least 30 minutes in the fridge. ...If you ever happen to visit the fine City of Liverpool, or you are fortunate to live there yourself, then I can recommend no better eating place than the Kebab House. Situated on Hardman street near the City centre, the restaurant is just round the corner from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. This then makes it a great place to have a meal if you are going, or have been to see a concert (something I do a lot). The Kebab House is really two restaurants in one, being split into a top and bottom half. The bottom half incorperates live entertainment along with food: including traditional greek music and plate smashing. This is ideal for parties and a good place to go for a good 'knees-up'! Chicken Kebabs - Part 1 of "Beat The Takeaway".

Advantages: Very healthy (Providing you don't use too much honey)
Disadvantages: Unless you don't like chicken or are veggie, none!

...This is the first in my "Beat the takeaway" series. The Kebab suffers a poor reputation thanks to the doings of many a late night takeaway, however they can be an amazing wonderful piece of fantasticness like so! All measurements are approximate, cooking should be about numbers, it's about feeling and smelling your way the right mix! Ingredients: Marinade Light soy sauce Runny Honey Garlic Ketchup (Trust me) Paprika (See "Other Spices" below for other ideas) Ingredients: Main Chicken thigh or breast Pitta Breads Salad of choice See "Dressing" below. My recipe shall make use of lamb, because I own two kebab shops, and have a rather large free supply of lamb!! Do not assume though my friends, that I make kebabs everyday, I don't, why would I, I get them free from my shop!! Advantages: Easy to make, yummmmmmmmmmmy......

.... Mix well with your hands; now make equal sized kebabs (cutlets) either round or elongated. Dip these kebabs first in a slightly beaten egg then in bread crumbs and shallow fry them in little oil till both sides are golden brown. You can also freeze them and fry them later.
