...I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I bought My Sister's Keeper: I'd read reviews saying how great it is, but the cover seems designed to appeal to women who like the kind of sentimental 'chick lit' that I can't stand. Or maybe I dislike it just because I'm not a great fan of children. The last thing I was expecting was a debate concerning various issues of 'designer babies' that would challenge my own opinions and present the issue in a refreshingly different light. Well, it wasn't exactly the last thing because I read Vanishing Acts before I got this one, but you get the idea - I was very pleasantly surprised. The first thing that sets this novel apart from others is that it tells the story through different characters using a first person narrative, conveying how they think and feel without revealing the whole story at once...

Advantages: Different viewpoints, great plot and subplot, wide range of emotions and characters.
Disadvantages: Sometimes I felt it was disjointed with the changing between characters.

...I thought My Sister's Keeper was a very good read. I really liked the way it was set out . I loved the different viewpoints not just Anna of the characters as it gave depth and enabled me to empathise with each character and not just see the experiences from one view. For some like Annas parents the experience was very different to that of herself so it was very interesting to see the extremes of the views, from Anna all the way through to her mother (Sara) and her sister Kate. It also enabled a deeper understanding of the plot. I also liked the wide range of emotions I felt when I read the book, I felt I knew the characters and I think that is why I felt emotions to them. I enjoyed the subplot aswell as it made the book more interesting. The main plot was very well put together. However, I would not recommend the book if you are...

Zoo Keeper DS - where's the zoo...?

...Zoo Keeper DS is a simple yet addictive puzzle game. At first, I was confused as I assumed the game was similar to Zoo Tycoon, in the respect that you build and run a zoo (I felt a bit silly when I realised my mistake!) but this game is good fun. In simple terms, you have to match three of a kind to earn points and extra time. The "blocks" are animals, and the art style and music remind me of old 8-bit games. The "How to play" in the game menu is succinct and very helpful - it explains how to match up animals, how to "level up", the special panel (one that will remove all blocks of one animal from the board) and the binoculars (this points out where possible matches are if you're stuck.) The "Zoo Keeper" mode is the basic mode, in which you must collect a certain number of animals to "level up". For example, in Level 1, you must...

Advantages: gripping, detailed and touching.
Disadvantages: its over too soon!

...I recently purchased this book for my journey to Las Vegas - i figured as i had a 10 hour flight i would need something to get my teeth into! Having seen the film previews and knowing most books are better than the films, i decided on My sisters keeper at the airport and purchased it for £7.99 at WHSmith. The book is written in the eyes of each character in the book - each of them having their own chapter and flitting to and fourth from each character through out the book which i thought was very clever. you really get to know the characters and what their personalities and charicteristics are like. The story line is very upsetting and Jodi really goes into detail with how each character is feeling at every possible moment. Its based on a family that has a 3rd child to attempt to heal their daughters rare condition, eventually...
