Advantages: Great Sound Disadvantages: Not within everyones price range.
...Kef Q5 speakers.
This is a difficult item to review, because the main emphasis on this product is the ability to produce audible sound. This sound is something, which is difficult to explain without getting too technical. Within that context I will try to explain some of the technical details before the actual description of the Kef speakers, thus hopefully giving you a fuller understanding of the actual product.
Things, which affect you ability to ?Hear the Music?
1 - The Human ear.
The human ear can respond to minute pressure variations in the air if they are in the audible frequency range, roughly 20 Hz - 20 kHz.
The nominal dynamic range of human hearing is from the standard threshold of hearing to the threshold of pain. A nominal range for hearing is 0 decibels to 130 decibels (db), which is considered to be...

Review of KEF Q5
Advantages: Look great sound great easy to install Disadvantages: need a good amp to get the most out of them
...Hi there !
We own the new verson of the kef KHT 3005 whats known as the SE version(we used to have the old model). The new version is a vast improvement on the old model with the addition of the new tangerine tweeter. Power handling also seems to have improved.
They fill the room with rich deep base from the new HTB2 sub woofer and they look absolutely fantastic !
We managed to get them at a fantastic price from The brotherhood of sound in Chesterfield at almost £200 off the RRP.
It is noted that we are using Hi def audio from the new onkyo 875 receiver and from the PS3 blue ray movies are incredible!
Overall well worth the money!!!!...

Review of KEF KHT 3005
Advantages: Excellent sound quality at all frequencies, well built and good looking Disadvantages: Would be imposing in a small room
...Bought my KEF IQ9s a year ago to replace my ageing Mission bookshelf speakers, and am still loving them. They are driven by my Mission Cyrus 2 Amp and are used to play a wide range of music mostly rock and pop both from CD and records . Having tested the IQ range these were undoubtedly the best from bass through mid range to treble, and for sound quality, performing well at low, as well as higher, volumes. I could have saved £150 and bought the next model down but I knowI would have regretted it. They are handsome and stylish floor standing speakers, all of the KEF IQ range are available in a range of three different veneers to suit your style. Apart from extracting them from the packaging (I had to crawl into the box to get them out), they were easy to set up and have been totaly reliable since purchase. A year on - not a single...

Review of KEF IQ9
Advantages: Solid, Value For Money, Excellent Clarity Disadvantages: Colour ( but that is only my opinion! )
...Having just purchased an AV surround processor & surround speakers, I decided a center speaker was required to obtain the full effect.
Looking at my budget, I could not really spend more than about £90, having just forked out for an AV amp, various cheap center speakers were considered, and rejected due to poor performance & build quality. The KEF COD 80 caught my eye, as it was a special deal on the Richer Sounds web site at £69.99, observations elsewhere showed this model to be £130+.
I ordered one hastily, but expected to wait about 10 days for delivery, but I was surprised to find it arriving within 2 days.
(I suppose Richer Sounds must have a warehouse full to sell them so cheaply).
The only colour they had was the ?Light Maple? type ? but this did not bother me as I generally don?t buy stuff to match the sideboard, but...

Review of Kef Coda 80
Advantages: Style, sound and build quality Disadvantages: Bigger than expected
...I picked up the eagerly anticipated Onkyo 606 a few weeks ago; I have paired it with a KEF 2005.2 5.1 surround speakers, both in silver finish. I purchased both from A1 Audio based in Sheffield, who supplied direct to me in Glasgow. I also bought 2 set of KEF floor stands to mount the speakers on.
The Onkyo/KEF system replaces a budget Sony out of the box DVD/surround 5.1 system... and what a difference, just a totally different experience. I have hooked up the Onk with my PS3 via HDMI for gaming, DVDs & Blu-ray use. Am not gonna put anything on the spec of the 606 here, as that is pretty widely available elsewhere.
I have connected the KEFs to the Onk with QED silver micro speaker cable.
Out of the box everything feels very well put together, very strong and sturdy quality build. But everything is also big, much bigger...

Review of KEF KHT2005.2
Advantages: Great sound quality, Look good Disadvantages: High price, trouble of hiding wires (as with all wired speakers)
...The KEF KHT 3005 is a 5.1 surround sound speaker system, which consists of one large subwoofer and 5 individual speakers. Subwoofers simply allow you to playback low bass frequencies at high levels. Without a subwoofer you may not be able to listen to some sound from a video or an audio program or file.
All KEF speaker systems including this one use Uni-Q technology in order to produce high-quality and concentrated levels of audio output. The single Subwoofer and the 5 individual loudspeakers (tweeters) work together as a single audio output source so that sound is dispersed equally around the entire room.
The subwoofer and the individual loudspeakers interlink their sound output to cover the entire room in order to allow experience of sound from anywhere in the room. But you have to consider how you arrange the speaker system...

Review of KEF KHT 3005
Advantages: Look good Disadvantages: Poor sound quality
...B) and they sounded just as loud as the Cresta's, even though I hadn't touched the volume dial.
So even if you're looking for highly efficient speakers, I'd at least audition these before buying, or perhaps just look elsewhere. Kef might have a good reputation but. on this evidence, it's not very well deserved....

Out of the box the 606 is pretty imposing, it is a large and weighty piece of kit, and feels well put together. As i said, it is big, really big, much more so than I appreciated when I ordered it, I had to remove a shelf from the tv stand to allow it to fit, still, that serves me right...
