KEF KHT 3005 SE

Advantages: Look great sound great easy to install
Disadvantages: need a good amp to get the most out of them

...Hi there ! We own the new verson of the kef KHT 3005 whats known as the SE version(we used to have the old model). The new version is a vast improvement on the old model with the addition of the new tangerine tweeter. Power handling also seems to have improved. They fill the room with rich deep base from the new HTB2 sub woofer and they look absolutely fantastic ! We managed to get them at a fantastic price from The brotherhood of sound in Chesterfield at almost £200 off the RRP. It is noted that we are using Hi def audio from the new onkyo 875 receiver and from the PS3 blue ray movies are incredible! Overall well worth the money!!!!...

Gust Front

Advantages: Sci-Fi

...Gust front. The Posleen have invaded the Earth. They are big reptilian looking aliens and they hate humans with a ferocity. The book is essentially a war/ resistance type novel with lots of battles and counter insurgency rear guard actions. The book follows differing teams of human fighter as they each have a story and a battle to fight. Some are successful and some disastrous slaughters. The Polseen are nasty aliens and no empathy comes across in the book, they want to totally dominate the humans and take over the Earth. The characters draw your pity as they fight against overwhelming odds and weapons so advanced only trickery and humans sacrificing themselves can help to defeat the Polseen commandos. There are a couple of sub plots and equally a couple of twist but they are not much to speak of and for me...

Hanko Front Museum - a labour of love

Advantages: Interesting, well researched, great for history buffs, different to other museums
Disadvantages: Lack of captions in English; you may not be into military history

Strictly speaking the Front Musuem in Lappohja in Southern Finland should have been closed for the winter when we visited the area in September 2007; in fact mid-September onwards is very much seen as the "off season" for most attractions in Finland, other than those in the heart of the cities (and even some of these close down for several months too). However, our Lonely Planet had been wrong before so we enquired at the tourist information office in the nearby town of Hanko. The tourist officer contacted the curator of the museum and arranged an appointment for us to visit the Front Museum later that day. This is a very widely known song and has a great tune which accompanies some very good lyrics. 16 - Three Times a Lady - This track runs for 3.35 minutes and was produced by James Anthony Carmicheal and The Commodores. ...this colour will match most furniture from Ikea! I have found out that the CODA 80 is also available in ?Black Ash? and ?Dark Apple?. Upon opening the packaging, I was delighted with the overall build quality; the case was beautifully finished with rock solid feel. A removable cloth grill was fitted to the front, easily pops off (fitted by some neat plastic bushes) to reveal the elegant cones. What I really liked were the binding posts, these were as solid as wheel nuts (of stainless steel appearance), none of this plastic nonsense. Positioning and connecting the speaker was a piece of cake, as it fitted snuggly on top of my set, I affixed the supplied ?stick on rubber feet? to prevent chaffing. They are driven by my Mission Cyrus 2 Amp and are used to play a wide range of music mostly rock and pop both from CD and records . Having tested the IQ range these were undoubtedly the best from bass through mid range to treble, and for sound quality, performing well at low, as well as higher, volumes. I could have saved £150 and bought the next model down but I knowI would have regretted it. KEF 2005.2 with Onkyo 606

Advantages: Style, sound and build quality

...I picked up the eagerly anticipated Onkyo 606 a few weeks ago; I have paired it with a KEF 2005.2 5.1 surround speakers, both in silver finish. I purchased both from A1 Audio based in Sheffield, who supplied direct to me in Glasgow. I also bought 2 set of KEF floor stands to mount the speakers on. The Onkyo/KEF system replaces a budget Sony out of the box DVD/surround 5.1 system... and what a difference, just a totally different experience. I have hooked up the Onk with my PS3 via HDMI for gaming, DVDs & Blu-ray use. Am not gonna put anything on the spec of the 606 here, as that is pretty widely available elsewhere. I have connected the KEFs to the Onk with QED silver micro speaker cable. Out of the box everything feels very well put together, very strong and sturdy quality build.
