Just go out and listen to the Kef Q5.

Advantages: Great Sound
Disadvantages: Not within everyones price range.

...have tried to put the speakers on the ground and found that at the bass end of the sound there is a muffled sound. I have also raised them off the ground on CD boxes; this gives a slightly better sound than putting them on the ground, but was totally unsatisfactory in terms of aesthetics. The best way to use the speakers is on the spikes provided. Conclusion. As you can see from the picture I have the speakers mounted on a wooden floor, in the rest of the room there is softening furniture, which keeps the distortion to a minimum. These are a mid price range of speakers which I would recommend to anyone who wants to listen to a good quality sound in their home. The speakers can be used for the hi-fi in a listening room or they can also be used as a home cinema and a bass bin could be added to give that full cinema experience. Kef...

KEF KHT 3005 SE

Advantages: Look great sound great easy to install
Disadvantages: need a good amp to get the most out of them

...Hi there ! We own the new verson of the kef KHT 3005 whats known as the SE version(we used to have the old model). The new version is a vast improvement on the old model with the addition of the new tangerine tweeter. Power handling also seems to have improved. They fill the room with rich deep base from the new HTB2 sub woofer and they look absolutely fantastic ! We managed to get them at a fantastic price from The brotherhood of sound in Chesterfield at almost £200 off the RRP. It is noted that we are using Hi def audio from the new onkyo 875 receiver and from the PS3 blue ray movies are incredible! Overall well worth the money!!!!...

KEF 2005.2 with Onkyo 606

Advantages: Style, sound and build quality
Disadvantages: Bigger than expected

...I picked up the eagerly anticipated Onkyo 606 a few weeks ago; I have paired it with a KEF 2005.2 5.1 surround speakers, both in silver finish. I purchased both from A1 Audio based in Sheffield, who supplied direct to me in Glasgow. I also bought 2 set of KEF floor stands to mount the speakers on. The Onkyo/KEF system replaces a budget Sony out of the box DVD/surround 5.1 system... and what a difference, just a totally different experience. I have hooked up the Onk with my PS3 via HDMI for gaming, DVDs & Blu-ray use. Am not gonna put anything on the spec of the 606 here, as that is pretty widely available elsewhere. I have connected the KEFs to the Onk with QED silver micro speaker cable. Out of the box everything feels very well put together, very strong and sturdy quality build. But everything is also big, much bigger...

KEF IQ9 Speakers

Advantages: Excellent sound quality at all frequencies, well built and good looking
Disadvantages: Would be imposing in a small room

...Bought my KEF IQ9s a year ago to replace my ageing Mission bookshelf speakers, and am still loving them. They are driven by my Mission Cyrus 2 Amp and are used to play a wide range of music mostly rock and pop both from CD and records . Having tested the IQ range these were undoubtedly the best from bass through mid range to treble, and for sound quality, performing well at low, as well as higher, volumes. I could have saved £150 and bought the next model down but I knowI would have regretted it. They are handsome and stylish floor standing speakers, all of the KEF IQ range are available in a range of three different veneers to suit your style. Apart from extracting them from the packaging (I had to crawl into the box to get them out), they were easy to set up and have been totaly reliable since purchase. A year on - not a single...

Hi-Five for the Hi-Fi

Advantages: Sound Quality, Simplicity, Remote Control, Portable
Disadvantages: Weight, Flimsy Dock Connector

...few of them are able to be powered by batteries, so aren't portable. When I stumbled across the official Apple iPod HiFi on the on-line Apple Store, I was intrigued. It looked the BUSINESS, it took batteries and it was made by Apple, so probably had a good sound. At £200 it was a slight more expensive than a lot of other options, but I had confidence in Apple to put something together that would do my music justice. I couldn't find a local retailer with one in stock to have a listen to so it was something of a leap of faith. Weighing in at a hefty 8kg, it's a heavy old thing - heavier than I expected (not having read the small print on the website). This heaviness is not without reason though, it is extremely solid in its construction which means there's no rattling, and squeaking or unwanted flexing that would otherwise spoil...

KEF CODA 80 >> Built Like A Rock <<

Advantages: Solid, Value For Money, Excellent Clarity
Disadvantages: Colour ( but that is only my opinion! )

...Having just purchased an AV surround processor & surround speakers, I decided a center speaker was required to obtain the full effect. Looking at my budget, I could not really spend more than about £90, having just forked out for an AV amp, various cheap center speakers were considered, and rejected due to poor performance & build quality. The KEF COD 80 caught my eye, as it was a special deal on the Richer Sounds web site at £69.99, observations elsewhere showed this model to be £130+. I ordered one hastily, but expected to wait about 10 days for delivery, but I was surprised to find it arriving within 2 days. (I suppose Richer Sounds must have a warehouse full to sell them so cheaply). The only colour they had was the ?Light Maple? type ? but this did not bother me as I generally don?t buy stuff to match the sideboard, but...

KEF Coda 70s speakers take rear guard action

Advantages: Small, really packs a punch !
Disadvantages: A tad heavy for my wall brackets :-)

..., and having *failed* to find the Nxt's in a low cost version, I sort of fibbed a bit, and said I would make sure the rear speakers were "inconspicuous". Then the real fun started - actually finding a small compact speaker that fitted my sonic requirements. Back we go to the HiFi shops in Brum and Shrewsbury, listening to probably a wider range of speakers than I have had to audition previously.... This is a BIG market area with a huge range of choice. Two main features were on my list : small and punchy (OK, 3 : they also had to be cheap as possible). Others in the range included offerings from Mordaunt Short, Mission, good old Wharfedale Diamonds, but I also felt that I had to be fair and have a listen at some of the slightly more pricey Tannoys, B7Ws, the new small Quads etc. Well, it took me a lot longer than I anticipated, but in...

Kenwood 21 series hifi package

Advantages: High quality sound, versatile,
Disadvantages: Expensive, size

...The hi-fi package comes with:- *Tuner/Control center *Amplifier (M-A100) *Cassette Deck (X-5300) *5 CD Changer (Carrousel) *5 way speaker system (left/right/center/2x surround) The control center is the brains of the hi-fi, from this you can select any of the units as the source of the media. The unit has a main display which when in off mode has a clock. When you switch the unit on it displays the current selected unit, example, CD, Tape, Radio, VCR and AUX. It also displays the volume level when you adjust the volume. The unit has a drop down panel that opens by a motor. Behind the panel are buttons to set the clock, radio, send settings and voice activation. Yes ?Voice Activation? is fitted to this hi-fi. You can teach it a word so that when you say it, the hi-fi will switch on and play either CD, tape or radio...

So Get Your Ears On Cause Im Hi-Fi

Advantages: The Distance
Disadvantages: Over too quickly

...Right well this is my third op on A and it brings me to the last album Hi-fi Serious. named after a Sketch on Steve Coogan?s cult comedy Serious Alan Partridge (You know the one he bought the Bang & Olufson CD player/sound system. Well he gets it from Hi-fi Serious the shop). Well the lads originally from Leeds found real success with this album and got the first decent chart position?s they have had but of course that doesn?t really mean much the way the charts are. Well A have now been around a while and this album was probably going to be make or break for them. However nothing can take away from the fact that A are a terrific Live band. I saw them at Reading Uni just after this album was released and they were superb. Of course this was the fourth time I had seen them but the first time they had played the new stuff. Just...

American Hi-Fi

Advantages: catchy tunes, smooth vocals, clean sounding songs
Disadvantages: a little to formulated.

...This is the first and self titled album from the american band American Hi-Fi. I bought this album after just hearing one the singles released from it; "flavour of the weak." When I fist heard this song I couldn't find out who it was by and every time I listened to it on the radio and became more obsessed about finding out who it was! That is how good it was. The sound of the 4 piece from boston is a mix between good old fashioned rock and roll, with a slght indie feel and maybe a slight bit of emo concerning the lyrics. If you were to compare them to any other bands you are probably looking at nickleback or muddle of mud. Although American Hi-Fi are a MUCH better version of these. But that is the style of "formulated" sounding songs that they write. The the lyrics through out most of the album are melodramatic and usually...
