Kenco Coffee love it or hate it.
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  JamesBrock

Advantages: Tastes and smells like coffee
Disadvantages: None really

...I know that this phrase applies to a lot of things but its true with coffee. You either love it or you hate it. Now i never ever used to drink coffee as i am a huge tea fan. So i do not really know what drove me to indulge in a cup of coffee. Maybe it was the dreamy aura of the coffee or maybe i was being pulled into the dark side. Ive smelt coffe before and i have to say some of the smells are absolutly putrid but this one seemed to be different. Its called Kenco Really Smooth Instant Coffee. When you open up the jar of coffee the smell of the beans are not overpowering but in contrast are quite pleasnt. The taste of the coffee is also pleasnt and i found that when i had a cup of coffee it helped me relax. Myabe its just me but i also find that it helps get rid of headaches (even those nasty hangover ones... Read review

A Quality Instant Coffee
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  ashford

Advantages: Nice taste. Nice aroma. High quality
Disadvantages: A tad more expensive than some other brands

...Today Kenco Instant Coffee is owned and produced by Kraft Jacobs Suchard but theorigins of Kenco Coffee Company goes back to 1923,when it was established by a co-operative of Kenya coffee growers, in order to distribute high quality coffee beans to Great Britain. They set up a popular coffee shop in Sloane Square and founded a mail order firm, John Gardner (London) Limited,to supply the increasing number of hotels and restaurants in London. In 1987 Kenco was bought by Kraft Foods to form the largest ground coffee company in the UK. Among the products introduced were the Superior Quality blend of quality freeze-dried instant coffee, the Rich Dark Roast Instant Coffee and in 1999 Kenco Rappor instant coffee was launched. In the year 2000 Kenco introduced their Purely Organic Instant Coffee brand which I have yet to try. I find... Read review

Nearly fresh Coffee in an instant
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  klofron

Advantages: Great taste - Great aroma
Disadvantages: More expensive that some other brands

...We Brits are still learning about coffee. Talk to many continentals about instant coffee and they would have you ditch the lot in favour of freshly ground 'proper' coffee. Indeed, I must agree that freshly ground coffee is by far superior to instant coffee in most cases, both in smell and in taste, but instant coffee is far easier to prepare and less messy, especially if you are at work or busy at home. I like to strike a balance with coffee and drink both instant and freshly ground. I've tried most types of instant coffee and like some far better than others - some I believe should be taken to task by the trading standards people for actually labelling their products as coffee - 'yuk'. Kenco, in my opinion, is one of the better varieties of instant coffee and certainly deserves to be classed as coffee. I will always try new... Read review

Instant coffEE!
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  L0BSTER_QUADRILLE

Advantages: One of the better 'instant coffees'
Disadvantages: too bitter.

...Instant coffee is a poor substitute for the real thing! However, It is an essential ... NO! its just essential for coffee drinkers with a busy or lazy lifestyle. I feel loyal to kenco, I like the adverts, the packaging, the variety, the smell, the look of ........... I WANT TO LIKE KENCO COFFEE!!! Kenco instant coffee lets me down! Theres such a variety, yet ... always, it tastes bitter! It has such a grand build up and indeed reputation that you expect something special. But even the kenco smooth tastes bitter. I don't want to put you off !!! Of all those who produce instant coffee ... kenco is 'up top'. In my opinion it is at the top, besides one unbeatable competitor. I like strong coffee, using more than one spoonful of kenco in one cup; the bitterness is just too intense! With instant coffee, it depends what your... Read review

The best tasting instant coffee
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  goodematthew

Advantages: Wonderful aroma and taste!
Disadvantages: It's instant coffee

...I may not be a coffee connoisseur, but I do know what good coffee tastes like. Now, as you are probably well aware, you’re not going to get Starbucks or Costa standard coffee off your supermarket shelf, but I have to say Kenco is the nearest to ‘proper’ coffee you are going to get. Having tried many brands of instant coffee, I think that Kenco’s Really Smooth coffee has a very soothing aroma – the type of coffee you want to curl up with in a comfy sofa and watch a movie late at night. The smells that evaporate off reminds you of your favourite coffee house, and are nice and relaxing. I always have my coffee with one sugar and milk – the overall taste is wonderful! The Really Rich variety is the ideal coffee for the early morning jaunt to work or to school, if – like me – you haven’t picked up your GCSE’s yet! The caffeine boost... Read review

TASTES LIKE REAL COFFEE SHOULD
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  flashpointz

Advantages: smells and tastes just like freshly 'perked' coffee
Disadvantages: none - forget the price, its worth every penny

...I virtually live on Coffee – no two ways about it. I seem to have lost my supposed traditional English taste for tea and gone all transatlantic. You just can’t beat a great cup of freshly percolated coffee - or if you are in one of the recent plethora of recently sprung up Coffee houses – a latte, cappuccino and nice comfortable to seat to relax in. But if you are in a hurry, at home, and don’t want the trouble of firing up the Coffee machine, far and away the best option is KENCO Instant coffee granules. I can remember those TV Ads with the Kenco coffee rep touring the South American bean farms, “But here try this” as she hands him a cup of Kenco instant. “it’s the real thing”. OK, I know that catch phrase was from the Coke adverts, but surely you remember – you know... Read review

Coffee with a Conscience?
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee by  paulhanton

Advantages: Good taste, cheap, sustainable development.
Disadvantages: Air miles?

...The particular Kenco instant coffee I am writing about is their 'Sustainable Development' variety. I could have asked Ciao to allow me to review this as a new product as this particular 'flavour' has not been reviewed, but as plenty of Kenco reviews exist I thought it would be okay (and less greedy) to simply review it in this category. I don't drink coffee much as I see it as a treat and I like my coffee strong enough for the spoon to stand up in, with (I use Elmlea light) cream. I also like it so hot it burns my lips, which is probably not too good for me, hence, the rare treat. Sustainability: I first tried this brand and type out about 6 months ago and was attracted to the fact that it boasts a 'Rainforest alliance' certificate and aids local farmers earn a fair deal. In fact the coffee comes from a cooperative in El Salvador... Read review

Kenco can (well almost)
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee Granules, Decaffeinated Freeze Dried by  bizzetto

Advantages: Tastier than most decaffs
Disadvantages: Still not as tasty as real coffee

...It has long been said that it is impossible to produce a deccaffeinated coffee without losing the strong flavours inherent in real coffee. This seemed to me to be a very sad state of play and so, with this in mind, I recently decided to try one of the more expensive and respected brands on the market in order to dispel the myth. Read on to see whether I succeeded (although I know that the title is a bit of a giveaway) These days everybody is a coffee expert and so it is easy to dismiss everything that is not either percolated or sold by a high street coffee store to be of inferior quality. Kenco have, however, throughout this period still managed to maintain a respected position at the top of the instant coffee and so it was their product which I opted for. And so I popped down to my local supermarket and paid the princely sum... Read review

Coffee at its best.
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee Granules, Decaffeinated Freeze Dried by  markcollins

Advantages: Great taste, good value for money
Disadvantages: Expensive but all coffee is nowadays.

...As you go out shopping for the weekly shop you will prabably have coffee on your list. I would recommend Kenco and this is why... TASTE Subtle and calming but too much in one cup is too strong. A small teaspoonfulin a mug should do the trick. WHERE TO HAVE IT It is the perfect coffee blend for having as an accompanyment to dinner parties and a great drink for when you are reading. PRICE In general, a small jar of this coffee retails at around £1.50 but you can get it cheaper from places like Costco and Home Bargains. PRODUCT INFORMATION The product is made by the Nestle corporation who also make other brands like cheerios breakfast cereals and well known chocolate bars. MY POINTS Although this coffee is not the cheapest on the market I find it fresher and tastier than any other brand... Read review

Kenco Decaffeinated - Nice try
Review of Kenco Instant Coffee Granules, Decaffeinated Freeze Dried by  ilaskey

Advantages: Better than most decafs, nice jar
Disadvantages: Still too bitter for me, funny back taste

...I get through unhealthy amounts of coffee at work. The stuff dispenced by the vending machine isn't actually too bad (ground to order & wait 1min for the cup to appear) but at 30p/cup it soon mounts up. Accordingly, I've started bringing in my own coffee & partaking of the 'dispense hot water' option on the vending machines. I've now settled on Kenco Really Smooth Roast but in a fit of 'healthyness' I did have a go with Kenco's Decaf. Previously, I put on my good citizen hat and picked up a jar of Co-Op Fair Trade Rich Roast. I'd like to say nice things but this was the most god-awful coffee I think I've ever drunk. One cup could ruin your day and certainly turns *my* mouth inside out. I then moved on to Kenco Decaffeinated. The jar gives me a good feeling with its distinctive green cap, octagonal jar and nice gold & green label... Read review
