Advantages: Nice comfortable hotel in a lovely location.
Disadvantages: Very expensive to eat inside the hotel, don't bother!

...Although I have been to London a few times, my most recent visit would be the first time I would be staying in a hotel there, as I usually stayed with a friend just outside of London. Hotels in London don't come cheap with many hotels starting at around £130 per night, and going upwards from there! We decided to stay in London for 3 nights, which isn't long enough for me but it was proving to be too expensive finding somewhere half decent for 4 nights. Searching throguh Expedia and Lastminute I actually found the Marriott Kensington to be one of the cheapest, but only because they had an offer, stay 2 nights and get 1 free! ...of things she was obviously bracing herself! It is now 1am, and I decided that enough is enough and that I will be changing rooms, so I went down to the guy in reception to request a new room. After 5 minutes of trying to wake him, he instead suggests that he would phone up and tell them to be more considerate, but I pointed out, and I said it in these exact words: "Look mate, you can't do that - you're gonna put him off his stroke man! It's not their fault that the sound insulation in your hotel is RUBBISH!" Anyway, after about 10 minutes of arguing with the guy, I bullied him into allocating me a different room on the floor above and off to the right! However, after that I found it quite hard to get off to sleep - but at least I wasn't where all the action is! At 3 am, I heard an altercation between between porno room...

Good London hotel in Kensington

Advantages: Excellent location and lovely clean hotel

...I booked this hotel for me and my friend when we visited london for her birthday. The hotel is located at the far end of Hogarth Street from Earls Court Tube station (you can walk to the hotel in approx 3-4 minutes from the entrance to the station.) One thing that was not explained when i booked the hotel online was that you actually check in to the sister hotel 'Best Western The Shaftesbury London Kensington' located just around the corner....on the website these are shown as separate hotels so why would i think to check in there! When locating our hotel we were very confused as to why we could not get in and it was only on enquiring at the other hotel we established that this is where we need to check in. When you check in you are given 2 small cards the size of a bank card. I don't stay in hotels that often so i presumed these...

Disadvantages: 2 star hotel and it deserves them

...the corridor cupboard doors have a leatherette cladding, the ones on our corridor were very obviously peeling away from the doors and looked tatty. Our room door stuck and had to be slammed shut. The bathroom extractor fan did not work hence the peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. Glazing was poor with lots of street noise able to come into the room. Lumpy pillows. Good bits. The breakfast was wholesome and fresh, the pork and leek sausages were lovely. The resaurant although looked clean felt sterile with no atmosphere. Maid service was good. Nice clean towels. Good location right opposite Kensington Palace and just along form Hyde Park. 15 minutes walk from Harrods and Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge. 2 minutes walk from Kensington High Street and Tube Station....

Situated just round the corner from Gloucester Road tube station near Kensington in central London, the hotel takes up much of the whole block. = BOOKING = I was in London for work as part of a large party, so the booking arrangements were handled by the people organising the trip. I have looked at the website, and booking seems very straightforward on there, with an easy form with drop-down menus with options for the quality of room. Our group were all given standard rooms, which cost £130 per night, not including breakfast. Since it was a work trip, this was in the ballpark of costs for the type of hotel that MEPs would consider acceptable. I know London is hideously expensive for hotels, so £130 was not that outrageous when compared...

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made...

Cosy Kensington Close Hotel!

...My fiancé and i stayed here in January 2006 as part of a theatre break in London. The location of the hotel is nice, just a 2 minute walk from High Street Ken and the gardens, although the initial impression of the hotel isnt great as it looks very 80s american! I think it would have been a very grand entrace at one time but the outside could do with a refurb now. Inside, the hotel is huge, with lots of bars and seating areas with comfy chairs, and some nice prints on the wall. as the place is massive the staff are very well orgnaised and despite queues to check in we were quickly dealt with. Our room was tiny!!!!very clean, etc, but really, really small! im pretty sure the bed wasnt a full size double, and one side was up against the window so we both had to slide in the same side! I know london is famed for small hotel rooms...

Superb London Budget Hotel

Advantages: Beautiful setting in a buzzing part of London
Disadvantages: Not suitable for disabled people - no lift

...The Ashley Hotel is a superb, well-priced B&B hotel in a gorgeous location in central London. It is situated in Norfolk Square, Paddington, and is just 2 minutes walk from Paddington station. Paddington itself is a buzzing district of London adjacent to the West End, and is packed full of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Norfolk Square is an oasis of tranquility amongst this. It is a square (obviously) of tall, elegant Victorian mansions, all of which have been turned into budget hotels. The hotels are painted white and cream, and have tall windows and beautiful old railings outside. In the centre of them all is a railed garden. Obviously, it was once a place of residence for people of means in the Upstairs-Downstairs tradition. The Ashley Hotel comprises 3 mansions made into one, and has 50 (I think) rooms. Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding

Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End

...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav! On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere...

...I stayed at this hotel when i was on a school trip. The hotel is situated close to a street of shops, yet surrounded by buildings, leaving not much view. The rooms were ample sized, yet not very big. Many would say it was too small. The bathroom was clean and pleasant. The beds also weren't very comfortable. The breakfast in my opinion was horrible. Ive seen much better breakfasts. It was unclean and not very good selection. The hotel was big allowing plenty of space to sit comfortably and relax. There was also a bar and spa facilities yet i didnt get the chance to use them - but they did look like!! The hotel had internet facilities which was good as not many hotels ive stayed at have. It also had a shop with sweets and gifts in, which was quite nice. Overall i wouldnt really stay here again but on a cheap budget...
