My favourite Kenwood Chef - A701A

Advantages: retro appearance - best food mixer for cakes, pastry and dough
Disadvantages: size and weight often need to store it away

...Over the years I have had several Kenwood Chef food mixers and I still have two of them a 701A and an 901A but my favourite one is the oldest one - the 701A. I think it dates from the 1970s, is retro in appearance and it is still in amazingly good condition and the motor works well and quietly. I prefer the older model because it is really heavy so it does not bounce around when you run it fast. It is blue and white in colour and I think it is becoming very collectable as well as excellent to use. The original Kenwood Chef was developed by Ken Wood and was launched in 1950 . It was originally made in the UK but now it is made in the Far East. The basic shape of it has stayed very similar over the years and today there are six different chef models made with different power outputs but I personally would prefer to find another 701...

My Kenwood Chef - we couldn't live without it

Advantages: Makes great cakes, drinks, pastry, biscuits, you name it, it does it
Disadvantages: Takes up lot of space

...This may not be the most modern of food mixers but I inherited mine from my mum and it?s still working perfectly. Yes they are cumbersome, yes they take up space, but compared to my food processor, my kenwood chef is brilliant for many things, especially meringues, which, try as I might, I had never been able to master in my 39 years!!!! I remember days spent as a child, in the kitchen with my mum on a Sunday, making delights such as bourbon biscuits and shortbread in her kenwood chef. After she died in 1995, the chef was given to my grandmother, as at that time I had my food processor and was happy with that. For this Chef, its a Kenwood

Advantages: loads of attachments, large bowls, planetary mixing leaves items thoroughly mixed
Disadvantages: have to make counterspace but well worth it

...I love to cook. I like making homemade cakes, pies, yogurts, you name it. Generally I try to avoid feeding my family processed foods. Making everything from scratch is not only cheaper, but healthier as you control what goes in it. The down side is that when trying to do it all by hand, it is a lot of hard work and time consuming. Enter the Kenwood Chef. With its large capacity bowls, I can make large quantities of biscuit dough, large sponges, etc. without tiring my arms and constantly having to mix yet another batch. This means I can make enough biscuit dough in one go to actually bake enough biccies to fill our tin. Result: I only have to bake biccies once a week now, meaning loads of time saved with little ones about. ...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth... In no particular order; let's begin 1. Fish -Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity. Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on! Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...
