Kenwood KM010 - royalty in the kitchen
Advantages: It's simply the most powerful and majestic Kenwood
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...If I was totally honest it would be fair to say that I needed a new Kenwood like a hole in the head - after all how many virtually retired batchelors really need a food processor?
But over the decades I collected unpteen very usefull accessories and no less than four Kenwood mixers of mixed vintage, all of which were excellent for one task or another. However none were compatable with all the tools I owned, and visa versa!
In a fit of enthusiasm last Christmas I hunted the Internet and decided to treat myself to a new Kenwood. Days of deliberation [and umpteen special deal offers later] I plumped for a Kenwood KM 010 Titanium.
When it arrived, in a positively huge box, I really enjoyed myself unpacking every item and comparing the impressive new machine with its stainless steel accessories to the many "antique" versions in my...

Kenwood Major - A major success
Advantages: Large bowl, pulse capability, bowl cover
Disadvantages: Bowl cover is not very strong.
...Q: Kenwood Major or Kenwood Chef?
A: It depends on your needs!
Advantages of the Major over the Chef:
- Larger bowl makes large mixing possible, less messy and easier (6.7L over 4.6L)
- Flexible beater included
Although that may seem like a very small difference for such a difference in price, for me, it is well worth it. When baking or mixing something for large quantities the Major gives me the capacity that the Chef would struggle with.
As with the Chef, the Kenwood Major is a very high quality appliance. With the flexibility of being able to attach the most amazing attachments, from sausage makers to food processors the Major flexes its dynamism. This is a very robust machine that in my experience does not scratch easily. If you are toying up whether to get a Kenwood over another brand I would suggest the Kenwood for a number...

Kenwood Major - Rugged and Reliable, Great for Bread.
Advantages: rugged and powerful, big capacity.
Disadvantages: need to stop mixing and scrap bowl sides to ensure thorough mix.
...Overall an excellent mixer. I purchased this mixer primarily to mix bread dough and it has performed beyond expectations. Every week for the last 4 years I have used the Kenwood to mix 2 - 3 loaves of bread, which is heavy work. I have not had any problems, in fact, I love using this machine. It is much quieter than then older Kenwoods and more power than you could ever want. The mixer will stay put when mixing a single loaf, but tends to 'walk' around the benchtop when mixing a double loaf., so watch it.
The only problem with this type of planetary mixer (kitchenaid is also a planetary mixer) when mixing cake batter etc is that you have to constantly scrap down the sides of the bowl to ensure a thorough mix, which means stopping the machine, raising the mixing head, scraping the sides with a spatula, then lowering the mixer...

Cooking with the Big Kids
Advantages: Strongest mixer on the market, quiet, versatile
Disadvantages: Heavy; blocks cupboard doors when the head is raised
...forward a few years to last Christmas. My DB, who forgets literally within a minute of picking up the mail where he put it down, remembered my lustful gaze - the one I'd bestowed on the Kenwood, not him - and surprised me with the biggest, hugest, strongest, most powerful model they make, the Major Classic KM800. I was ecstatic, and remain so to this day.
No, this isn't put out by Sears; that's KenMORE. KenWOOD is the English company, known for their audio equipment. For reasons unknown to me, they also make kitchen appliances, including the strongest and best-designed stand mixers in the known world. And now I'm the proud possessor of one.
FEATURES
The body is brushed chrome, the better to stay clean.
The controls are the essence of simplicity: a single knob that you turn to control speed.
The mixer head tilts back...

King of the Kitchen Machines
Advantages: It's a Kenwood!
Disadvantages: Expensive and some might find it heavy
...What a wonderful piece of equipment!
I got this marvellous machine for my birthday (after months of dropping hints) and am absolutely thrilled.
As one would expect from the Kenwood brand this machine is a joy to have in the kitchen. Previously I just had a Kenwood Food Processor (now 12 years old but still working perfectly having been passed on to my brother) but really needed a mixer as well because I love to make cakes.
Now I can churn out cake after cake with ease - much to the enjoyment of my children!
My husband found this on offer in House of Fraser but ordered it from Amazon as the package is far too big to bring home on the train. The box is truly massive which shows how well packaged this lovely piece of kit is. The package contains the machine itself, the wonderfully big 4.6 litre metal bowl, splashguard...

For this Chef, its a Kenwood
Advantages: loads of attachments, large bowls, planetary mixing leaves items thoroughly mixed
Disadvantages: have to make counterspace but well worth it
...I love to cook. I like making homemade cakes, pies, yogurts, you name it. Generally I try to avoid feeding my family processed foods. Making everything from scratch is not only cheaper, but healthier as you control what goes in it. The down side is that when trying to do it all by hand, it is a lot of hard work and time consuming.
Enter the Kenwood Chef. With its large capacity bowls, I can make large quantities of biscuit dough, large sponges, etc. without tiring my arms and constantly having to mix yet another batch. This means I can make enough biscuit dough in one go to actually bake enough biccies to fill our tin. Result: I only have to bake biccies once a week now, meaning loads of time saved with little ones about.
The unique planetary action to the mixing mechanism means that there are no unmixed ingredients left in...

A Great Professional 1000w kenwood mixer
Advantages: Quiet and very professional, copes easily with large loads, easy to clean.
Disadvantages: Honestly couldn't find anything wrong.
...a superior 'planetary' mixing action.
It has an easy lift action.
A Quieter running sound compared to the older models.
A stuffer box incorporated for cord storage.
There is also the amazing versatility with over 20 optional attachments available such as mincer, ice-cream maker, shredder, slicer, juicers, liquidisers, and many more.
When I got it you also got a free Kenwood recipes book worth £19.99....

LG KM900 Arena - An iPhone Rival
Advantages: Good camera, small and light phone. QWERTY keyboard for texting
Disadvantages: Screen switches itself off after too short a time
...I recently upgraded to my new LG KM900 Arena from my current LG KF600 Venus after a bit of an argument with my (now) former provider.
I got a great deal from Orange so I'm now the proud owner of the Arena.
It's a candybar phone with a completely touch screen interface. I was a bit wary about not having a keypad but this phone is very responsive and I haven't had any trouble so far. My phone has a screen protector on it so it doesn't get scratched and this hasn't affected the way the phone responds to touch.
It has the unique 'S-class' interface which has four different screens - the widget screen which is completely customizable, the contacts screen which displays your favourite contacts, the shortcut screen which is again customizable to your own choice and the multimedia screen which displays your favourite tracks...

Head Chef
Advantages: Reliable, versatile, good-looking
Disadvantages: Price, possibly more than you need
...This is a serious piece of equipment. Try lifting it! So the first point to make is that, unless you have much more storage space and much bigger muscles than me, it is going to be sitting permanently out on your work surface. Is it good-looking enough for that? Definitely. Light battleship-grey in colour, which adds to its serious, purposeful aura, and with shiny chrome trim, it's an asset to any kitchen.
The Kenwood Chef has not changed a great deal over the years. There's a 30 year-old one in my family which is not very different from mine, give or take the colour, some new curves and re-designed accessory fittings. And that one is still going strong, having only had one small repair in that time. Not only does it look good, it's going to be with you for years. The build quality is excellent, everything about it feels...
