Kenwood XD-352... Is it worth it?

Advantages: Looks good, Sounds good, Made by Kenwood
Disadvantages: Mine broke

...Ok, before I begin, I would just like to say that the model I have is different to the picture. I don't know if this is because it is the Australian version, or because it is the wrong picture, but mine says XD-352 on the front and looks different. Selections are made with a large round dial in the center of the unit and the switchgear is in different locations. The layout is the same though, and I assume it is the same product under the skin. I got my XD-352 as a present from a mate...because it swallowed his cassettes and refused to return them. He pulled it apart, couldn't get his casssettes out, so gave up and gave it to me, in pieces, and with the two cassettes still held prisoner. After reassemblng the unit, I discovered it still worked fine playing CDs and the Radio and Auxillary functions. However, the cassettes are still...

* Say XD (instead of cheese) . .

Advantages: Getting cheap now.
Disadvantages: None unless you lose one.

...These cards are 2Gb XD memory cards made by Fujifilm, they are the latest in the line of a new storage system. XD stands for eXtreme Digital, the cards are made for digital cameras, plus other devices like digital voice recorders. The cost of these is very competitive, you can buy them for about £22 online. Remember though, this is plus P&P of course. You can buy them on the high street as well of course, but at a much higher price. They are often described as "Postage stamp" size cards. The size is 20 mm x 25 mm x 1.78 mm, and each card weighs 2.8 grams. You also have the option of going for non branded cards, although I would not use anything but original cards in my camera. You then are safe in the knowledge, that you have the genuine item, and your warranty is still valid. There are two types of these XD cards, M and H...

Kenwood Steams Ahead

Advantages: works very well
Disadvantages: none

...Kenwood KB9188 Steam Iron... I have always had really cheap irons until I decided that the time spent ironing was twice as long with a cheap iron. I paid out only a fraction more than I would usually when this Kenwood iron was on special at £10 from Argos. Its original price was around £15 but considering I usually only had Tesco Value Irons for less than a fiver this one cost the price of a couple of irons would usually do. I would have to say however that it was a total brilliant purchase on my behalf. The price paid was a bargain and I can't believe that I have been using cheap irons all this time. The Kenwood iron is heavy in weight and high in watts (2000). This means that it is able to sail through the ironing at a super quick time, I am not having to push hard on the clothing or go over it several times with just one swoop...

Kenwood Major - A major success

Advantages: Large bowl, pulse capability, bowl cover
Disadvantages: Bowl cover is not very strong.

...Q: Kenwood Major or Kenwood Chef? A: It depends on your needs! Advantages of the Major over the Chef: - Larger bowl makes large mixing possible, less messy and easier (6.7L over 4.6L) - Flexible beater included Although that may seem like a very small difference for such a difference in price, for me, it is well worth it. When baking or mixing something for large quantities the Major gives me the capacity that the Chef would struggle with. As with the Chef, the Kenwood Major is a very high quality appliance. With the flexibility of being able to attach the most amazing attachments, from sausage makers to food processors the Major flexes its dynamism. This is a very robust machine that in my experience does not scratch easily. If you are toying up whether to get a Kenwood over another brand I would suggest the Kenwood for a number...

Store your Memories on the XD

Advantages: Stylish, small size, reliable
Disadvantages: More expensive than other brands, small capacity

...The 16MB Fujifilm XD card comes free with all the Fujifilm digital cameras I have come into contact with or know about. Basically its a memory card that slots into the camera to store a minimal amount of images. Seeing as Fujifilm digital cameras do not come with any storage space on the camera itself, the 16 MB XD card is ideal for new users who have just just bought or received a camera and want to start taking photos straight away. On a 4Megapixel camera the average size of a good quality photograph is around about 1MB (maybe slightly over), so this card will hold roughly 16 images, or more at a lower level of picture quality. The physical design of the XD card is one of the main selling points, particularly for the larger capacity cards. They are very small compared to most memory cards (I'd guess 2/3 of the size) and are...

A Toast to Kenwood!

Advantages: Simple controls, easy enough to use, toasts 4 slices in one go!
Disadvantages: Struggles on home baked bread, body doesn't always stay cool in use, availability

...Kenwood; there's a name I haven't seen for a long time. I used to have a Hi fi unit with the name of Kenwood and although it wasn't the best it took me a few years to realise that the company who make kitchen appliances and Hi Fi's are not the same people! Doh! Well its harmless enough mistake to make given that the look of each brand emblem is virtually the same. These days however I have moved onto better things and replaced my old Hi Fi with an all in one unit, half the size and twice the amount of features. The same goes with my toaster. Having had a few cheapie brand names over the years such as Hinari, Bush and JMB from then, Index catalogue stores (bought over by Argos) and another similar toaster from Poundstretcher, one day my cheapie toaster no longer toasted. The problem was the fact that through 4 toasters throughout...

A toast to Kenwood

Advantages: Good price, nice toast, looks good
Disadvantages: None yet

...Debenhams. We had £100 worth as a wedding present and still had £25 left - the fact that it is our third wedding anniversary on 16th April is immaterial! We're not shopaholics then! I thought that it would be expensive at Debenhams but figured that it was worth a look; however I was in for a nice surprise. They had a Kenwood TTP103 four slice toaster in white for £20! So know you know why we needed a toaster, how and why we chose it and where we got it from I'm guessing you'd like to know a bit about it! Features It has a crumb tray into which will drop the crumbs from the toast. It slides out of the base of the toaster so that it can be emptied - I always put the resulting crumbs out for the birds. I also usually turn the toaster upside down and give it a bit of a shake to get the crumbs out that don't fall into the crumb tray...

Kenwood Comes Up Trumps Again

Advantages: Customer Service Website very helpful.
Disadvantages: I am now addicted to baking!

...I had coveted the thought of a food mixer for ages but could not justify, to myself, the cost. However, my breadmaker finally bit the dust and it was really annoying anyway to have the hole in the base of the loaf due to the beater in the pan. I only ever let it do the hard work of kneading, letting it rise in a loaf tin and baking the bread in the oven. Rather defeats the point of a breadmaker! So to make bread, cakes, etc., I decided to kill two birds with one stone and plumped for this extremely nice looking, retro-style Kenwood Patissier Mixer. I chose the cream to go with my new kitchen but, you can get it in red as well. Best of all, I could not believe the price! Much cheaper than I imagined. Isn't it great treating oneself? There it sits on the worktop looking stylishly important! It comes with a large (4 litre...

kenwood FP580 - Compact

Advantages: standard size but takes up little space
Disadvantages: not all accessories available to UK

...I have had my kenwood FP580 for a couple of months now and I love it. I only have a small kitchen and it sits in a very small corner - which means it is accessible at all times. It comes with many accessories including a dough tool, 3 cutting discs, whisk and blender. The 3 cutting discs store away safely in a disc holder. The main base has inerchangeable bowls and the blender. These are very easy to swap, although initially are quite stiff to remove but this soon loosens up. The 2 sizes of 'feeding' tubes in the lid of the main bowl, enables you to feed individual or handfuls of fruit/veg into the the processor to be ccot by one of the chosen blades. This is very safe, quick anf efficient. The instruction manual is just an A4 paper sheet but does list all the contents. The only downside I felt was that it lists all available discs...
