...In a bid to lose a few pounds after uni (too much alcohol & too many takeaways) I was looking for a good all round exercise machine, and elliptical trainers were recommended by some friends. "Why?" I enquired. "The answer is simple" came the reply, "they are a great cardiovascular work out and the pedals mimic the body's natural movements when running, so essentially you are running, but there is no impact - saving your joints and bones!" "Genius!" I replied. And so my quest to buy a machine began. After looking at a variety of makes and models, I decided upon the York 3100 Elliptical Trainer & Cycle. It looked the sturdiest, could handle the most maximum weight (16 stone - not that I was this large, but obviously the larger the maximum weight, the stronger the machine), was from a brand that I had heard of and trusted...

Like walking on the Moon!!!!

Advantages: Smooth, comfortable, challenging, lots of programmes, Robust!
Disadvantages: A bit expensive, but I still think worth it

Advantages: Durable, rugged, great value for money, easy to use.

Tunturi C30 elliptical. A great deal from Fitness superstore!!

...I decided to purchase a Tunturi c30 elliptical cross trainer from Fitness-Superstore and this really is the king of crosstrainers so if you have the money go for it. I am 17 stone man, so I am by no means small. I have purchased a few home crosstrainer in the past and I tend to give them a real beasting as you would in a real gym but they simply fell apart. This machine is well built strong and can take 135kg or 23 stone and has survived me! lol, it has loads of programmes, heart monitor and is whisper quiet and I mean quiet!!. Tunturi are simple the best when it comes to cardio equipment so DO NOT waste your hard earned money on anything else, you will be dissapointed!! The machine speaks for it's self and I don't really need to say anymore about it. I have noticed a few comments below about delivery from this company...

Argos Tipper Trike vs Kettler Maxi

...Our oldest daughter already has a Kettler Maxi Trike from Argos, but I wanted something suitable for our younger one (19 months). After some searching, I settled on the Argos Tipper Trike. Unfortunately, like all the other trikes I'd found, it is still a bit big for her little legs to use. I didn't expect her to pedal it, but was hoping her feet would reach the ground easier than they do. Not to worry, she loves it, but what really surprised me was how much her sister loves it. We got the Kettler Maxi trike for her as a 2nd birthday gift, it was £40 and is very heavy, being made of metal not plastic. Although it is marketed as suitable from age 2, in my opinion it is not.
