...This is the most convenient, quick to erect and roomy tent on the market and is excellent value for money. Now with an opening like that the review better prove it to you. But I am so convinced of my words that this is the first new product I have suggested to ciao and as such thought it only polite to be the first to review it. The khyam rapidex ridgi dome system is revolutionary, gone are the days of feeding the poles through the canvas before you can put it up, or standing inside a tent holding it still while someone else does the boy scout thing and pulls the canvas over the top. Essentially the main body of the ridgi dome tent is permanantly attached to the canvas and it has quick release joints that just pop into place, once this is done the tent is practically up. Review of Khyam Ridgi-dome classic XL

Khyam Vector PoP Up Tents.

Advantages: So auick & easy! Saves you getting wet when others are still constructing...
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

...'s run over a car in St Malo (as mine was!) Although I bodged it together for the rest of the trip you'll be glad to know that parts were readily available on my return & the prices weren't bad either!!! Mine is the older door each side design which has since been changed to a door with single zip on the opposing side - not as usefull & a shame in my mind. My sister has replaced the fly on hers with one of these new models & although not as good as the two full doors it is still better than most. Weighs about 2kg or just over I think & pack size is sausage shaped measuring approx 500mm long with a 200mm Diameter which just about fits on a pannier rack or in a pack. There are many tents in the Khyam range; the Vector is about the smallest going right up to a double bedroomed affair which has living space, where it is tall enough...

The ups and downs of a family tent.

Advantages: Lots of space for everyone.
Disadvantages: No longer made.

...The Khyam Michigan 12 was only made in 2007 so can be hard to come by now. But if you are after a large, well set out tent, and you find one of these then grab it whilst you can. The tent is an outer pitch first, or all in one. Personally we leave the inners in place which reduces the pitching time. The tent itself is large and can be difficult and heavy to put up. Saying that I am under 5ft and have limited mobility so if me and hubby can put it up between us then I'm sure others could easily. We have reduced the pitching time to around 30 - 45 minutes now, which is not bad considering. One good thing though, is that although the tent is large it still fits on most pitches so no extra charges. The tent has 3 inners. All or some can be removed if wanted. The largest is 6 berth. This is used by our 4 children and is just big enough...

...and overall the whole thing feels very airy and not at all restricting. As you would expect from a quality make the tourer 400 also is very waterproof and Khyam supply a repair kit and a selection of spare parts with each tent. We also bought the relevant footprint groundsheet which would be a wise investment to help protect such a great tent. Price and availability: When packed away, which is also an easy process, the tourer 400 packs down into a quite small bag considering its size when pitched, although some may need two to lift the bag as it is relatively heavy. Khyam tents are not the cheapest on the market but you really do get what you pay for with them. Our nearest camping shop had them at what we thought was a reasonable price but we saved a further £40 by searching and shopping online. Some retailers also offer seconds...

...Well, it is December, so I will write a review about a - TENT! The Gelert Eiger 3 is a three man budget tent, designed for weekend use or backpacking. It is actually only made to last between two and three seasons, but of course it depends on how you use and abuse it. The bag - this is made from the same material as the tent, and measures just 16 x 53 centimeters. It weighs four & a half Kilos, and can be worn on the back like a rucksack. Inside the bag, you will find fibreglass poles with elastic inside, these are "idiot proof" so they are easy to assemble. You will also see the tent itself, consisting of a flysheet, an inner tent with integral groundsheet, and 18 metal tent pegs. Sewn into the bag, is an instruction sheet printed on material, this is a good idea as you can not lose it. The instructions are well written...

Robust, spacious 6 berth tent

Advantages: very spacious, steel frame
Disadvantages: large pack, heavy

...than the width (so the tunnel arc is from front to back rather than side to side if that make sense). This means you have wide bedrooms and a very wide living area. Has sewn in groundsheet, but the "lip" at the doorway can be hooked up or down, so you don't get the trip hazard you have with other tents with bucket groundsheets. There are 3 doors so it is well ventilated. Downsides - large pack - need a big boot or trailer. Heavy (though the pack has wheels). We;re very pleased with it and feel it was good value for money, especially for a steel-framed tent....

Review of Vango Breckenridge 600 Family Frame Tent

Coleman Savannah - Ideal family tent.

Advantages: Easy to erect
Disadvantages: Can be dark inside

...The Coleman Savannah is a 6 person frame tent. It has an iside height of200cm high which is ample height for the average family! The tent is a kind of octagonal shape with the bedroom area taking 1 half & living area the other. We found the tent very easy to erect with colour coded steel poles which feed through from the outside of the tent, then legs attatched to lift the flysheet & place the tent in positon ready to be pegged down. There is then a groundsheet for the living area. The inner bedroom tents have an integral groundsheet & the whole thing is hung inside with colour coded hooks. What we particularly like as well is that there is a separate 'storage' area like a zipped up compartment where the cool box & bags ect can be stored. SoulPad 4000-ease - Good For The Soul

Advantages: Loads of space, incredibly sturdy, takes less than 15 min to put up!
Disadvantages: No netting on the door.

...At the beginning of 2008, after a disastrous camping trip in Glastonbury where our tent literally took on tons of mud after a week of violent thunderstorms and torrential rains, I vowed that I would never again go camping? not unless we purchased a proper tent. Ah well, proper tents being somewhat out of our reach financially, and with our old tent having been binned in Glastonbury because we just didn?t have the courage to squeeze the two tons of mud out of it, and try to dig out the separate groundsheet where it had been buried, we said goodbye to camping. I wasn?t too sad, especially as camping had become somewhat of a nightmare regardless that the tent we had was NOT cheap. It was a family tent with two sleeping pods at each extremity holding three adults per pod, and a centre portion that could be used for cooking or storing...
