Advantages: Super roomy car with bags of extras
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too safe in style

...I recently had the opportunity to attend a press launch for the new Kia cee'd. I entered a competition and won the chance to test drive the car in the South of France for a weekend! (I think I want to be a car reviewer in my next life........) Anyway, part of the comp was to right about the c'eed and try to win one for a year. Didn't win - but here's my thoughts on the newest family car in the Kia range. It was very surprising - I didn't have a great opinion about Kia before - probably due to ignorance, but really impressed by this one! If this car was stripped of its brand, who would you guess had built it? The answer may now surprise the thousands of people who were asked this when the car was displayed in malls across the UK last year. Out of Focus or a hole in one?

Advantages: 5 star NCAP rating, equipment, easy to drive, smooth powerful engine, quite roomy, economical
Disadvantages: hard ride, over-light steering, instrument lighting, engine noise

I had to think for a moment as I only had the car on hire but I thought I'd seen a list price mentioned on the hire agreement (in case I had to pay for it I suppose). "No it's Korean. Don't knock it til you've tried it!

Advantages: Lots of room, good equipment level, looks good.
Disadvantages: Kia badge tends to get dismissed by a lot of people, can be a little slow.

...I was given a Kia Ceed as a hire card, which I had to try out for several days. I had the 1.6 LS edition. When I heard that I would be getting a Kia, I was quite disappointed. I didn't, and still don't, consider Kia as a top marque car manufacturer. However, I found the look of the car quite appealing, and to be honest it looked quite sporty in red! Inside, the cabin has plenty of room. Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on the boot space, as I never really examined this in much detail. However, there was very good legroom for both front and back passengers, and an excellent driving position was very easy to obtain. I am quite tall, and at 6ft 2 there are not many cars that I can get very comfortable with whilst in the driving seat. The Kia Ceed was an exception. ...Having 5 children we needed some thing a bit bigger than the rover we had. We started to look around and visit web sites for a people carrier. We also looked at the ones that we passed on the road and saw the Kia Sedona. It looked very spacious, a nice smooth curvy body. We went to our local Kia dealers and had a look at the different models of Sedona they had. We didn?t want a second hand one in case anything happened to it we would not of had a fall back plan. We looked at the Kia Sedona SX and decided that this was the one for our family and us. We could fold all the back seats down and push them forward and have a large backspace if we needed it, also when the seats were upright and pushed forward there was quite a lot of space in the boot department, which we were surprised about. The Kia Sedona is a nice car but...

Advantages: Good Fuel Economy, Interesting Looks

The wonderfull Kia Picanto

Advantages: A wonderfull nippy, well designed and comfortable car with surprisingly a lot of room
Disadvantages: Small boot (but it has storage under it)

...We purchased our 2.9 CRDi Kia Sedona in May this year. Why, oh why did we not do it sooner. How many journeys did we endure with the tedious whining of "Are we nearly there yet?" " How much further?" "Mum, he/she/its hitting me...?" - if you have children you know the sentences... We've just come back from a camping holiday in the UK that involved a 3.5 hr journey, and I can not wait to go to France involving a 10 hr journey in 10 days time, yes, I can not wait to do such a long journey, with our children. Kia Sedona 2.9LX CRDi 2002 Model

Advantages: Cheap to buy, roomy, versatile.
Disadvantages: Expensive parts and servicing, poor quality trim.

...Sedona is on its 3rd pump, injectors and pipes. (10000mls and 24000mls)and I know of one other locally.Dealer was not allowed to tell me how many others are involved. Another thing to consider is the warranty. Mine is 3 years unlimited mileage and now it is 3 years 100000mls for new purchases. If you breakdown and the vehicle is off the road, you will be supplied with a loan car, but only for 2 days! It will not be a comparible vehicle, just a small hatchback and you have to pick up the insurance bill for it yourself(£9.00 + vat per day). I had to beg KIA Assist to let me have a vehicle for the duration of my hols which they did, but has cost me £130.00 insurance. Overall, the car is good value for money, offering more space than its rivals but I think would benefit from being fitted with the 2.5 engine as fitted to the Sorento...

...My husband and I have two Kia's, technically mine is the Kia Carens and his is the Kia Rio (well on paper anyway), but it is me that drives the Kia Rio 1.3 - mine is in metallic blue. We initially brought it as ex demo mobile when it was 5mths old with only 2000miles on the clock, me being the hard business woman (from watching all these car programmes on tv with my hubby), negotiated the price down from just over £6399, down to £5,300 and they fitted my cd player in it as well for nothing, plus taxed it for 6mths.
