It is the first album The Killers released. The album cover front is light blue and on the middle of the front it says 'the killers' in big white letters. 'the' is in small letters on top of the 'k'. Underneath this it says in smaller, spaced out, dark blue capitals it says 'H O T F U S S'. At the bottom there is a picture of the tops of some blue sky scraper buildings with lights on them. - As you can see in the picture (just to make sure you have the right one). More Killer tracks from the Killers

Advantages: Some very catchy songs with good beats, mostly upbeat tracks which I like
Disadvantages: Some 'fillers'

...I first noticed The Killers when I saw the video for their song Somebody Told Me, which was a really catchy light-ish rock song and I enjoyed the other singles from that album. I didn't hear much from the band (who hail from Nevada, USA) for a year or so until I heard the single Human from this album, Day and Age, on the radio. It was also really catchy and up beat and so when I found out about Amazon offering £3 worth of free MP3 downloads on Christmas day and boxing day, I decided I wanted to purchase this album as part of that deal, so I was glad when I found out that it was available for exactly £3. For £3 its extremely cheap, as it turns out that this is IMO a very good album, with a number of catchy tracks that the more you listen to, the catchier and better they become. ...Dear readers, I have no remorse in recycling, I heard it's good for the enviroment, and whats good for the enviroment is good for me. Advantages: a couple of good songs
Disadvantages: too many cover versions, B sides and cast offs

...It was a pleasant surprise that in Nov 07 The Killers released their latest album, Sawdust. After the world wide success of their previous two offerings, Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, both of which had made it to the top of my iPod playlists, I was positively drooling with anticipation. I made the classic mistake of picturing it as a surefire winner before the first listen. I was left deflated, disappointed, frustrated and pondering into how the band can allow the record company release this album or how can the record company allow the band to. Whoever made the decision to release the album has clearly done it on a whim and it smacks of obnoxious arrogance. The naivety in Hot Fuss was endearing. The consistency of Sam's Town enduring. The cynical gap-filling of Sawdust has done nothing other than to provide ammunition to the people waiting...

A Fantastic Album marking the Killers out as a special band

Advantages: Brilliant album full of classic songs, great originality and music
Disadvantages: The inlay design is nothing special

...Hot Fuss was the debut album by the Las Vegas based band, The Killers, released in 2004 it was instantly acclaimed as a very special album, reaching number one in America and the UK and remaining in the charts for a ridiculously long time. It appeals to fans of pop, indie, electronica, glam rock, trashy punk and old fashioned 80's synth music. The band are made up of lead singer Brandon Flowers, Mark Stoermer on Bass, Dave Keuning on Guitar and Ronnie Vannuci on drums. The band play incredibly tight and exciting live sets and are a joy to see in that setting. Album Tracks Jenny was a Friend of Mine Starting with a reassured manner, this tune is incredibly catchy mixing pop and 80's synth music in a way that would later become synonomous with the Killers, this is a great song, Brandon Flowers lyrics and vocals are superb...

One Killer Of An Album!

Advantages: Feels like I'm back in Vegas! Guitar heavy anthems
Disadvantages: As ever...not long enough!

...As somewhat of an a guitar based rock chick in my spare time, I have been a fan of The Killers since I first heard 'Somebody Told Me' on Radio 1 a number of years ago. The mix of edgy vocals teamed with complex guitar rhythms gave The Killers a spot in my heart which had previously been favoured by the Manic Street Preachers, a place which had only just been vacated because Nicky Wire had snubbed my attempts to get his autograph when I saw in a branch of Starbucks! The Killers are everything a 21st century band should be, edgy yet clean, twisted but not bitter, different yet appealing to the masses. There was something indescribable about my first encounter with The Killers and something that even now, on the second album, I can't quite put my finger on... So?Who makes up 'The Killers'? Killer Hot Spots

Advantages: Great Singles
Disadvantages: Weak Finish

...I have liked The Killers tracks I heard on the radio and for many months meant to by their debut album 'Hot Stuff' and eventually got round to it last week when it was reduced to £6 in the HMV sale (their second album 'Sam's Town' is now out hence the reduction) and I'm very glad that I did  The album is made up of 11 tracks (which in my opinion is just about right got an album) with the first track being 'Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine', which is a solid start to the album and with its indie / rock feel, heavy drums and bass. The next few tracks are, in my opinion superb - 'Mr Birghtside', one of a number of tracks from the album which were released as singles, is a track with something almost intangibly unique about it as it documents a drunken one night stand. Track 3, 'Smile Like You Mean It' was also released as a single...

The Killers - Sawdust(2007)

Advantages: inspired song writing
Disadvantages: a few mediocre tracks

...this band above most competition and the majority of tracks on this album are top quality songs in their own right. If you are a die hard fan of "The Killers" or just discovering them for the first time I highly recommend this album. 1. Tranquilize - Lou Reed provides the vocals backed up by a childrens choir for this introspective song - a solid opener. 2. Shadowplay - A Joy Division cover, the rolling drum beat and laid back vocals provide an updated sound to this classic track and breathes new life into an old song. 3. All The Pretty Faces - A B Side from the single "When You Were Young" deserved to feature on the album and showcases "Brandon Flowers" powerful voice. 4. Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf- No idea why this song was never released, one of the highlights on the album and a re-discovered jem. 5. Sweet Talk...

Another Direction For The Killers

Advantages: Hard Rock, Amazing Vocals, Intriguing listen
Disadvantages: No Poppy Numbers

...An album that defines Roosevelts words of "Bold Experimentation". Hot Fuss was played safe with soft, playful melodies leaving you hooked on songs such as "Somebody told me", "Mr Brightside" and "Smile like you mean it" brightening up our summers. The playful side of The Killers has now however all but deceased along with the tagline of "The Best British Band to come out of America". Sams Town contains more meat and less fluff almost desperate to become a group renowned for hard, progressive rock getting rid of the cheesy image and beginning to write with deep ideology and meaning. The killers however fail to completely get rid of their former image with the clever and concise "read my mind" fulfilling fans with a recurring poppy chorous and a likeable sound. The dissapointing "bones" also follows the same formalitys although likeable...

The Killers take a new direction

Advantages: A few catchy tracks, ability for new fans
Disadvantages: Too many forgettable tracks, ability to lose fans, short life span

...As a fan of Hot Fuss, I feel inclined to compare it to Day and Age. In reality there is no comparison. For a start Day and Age moves completely in a different direction. Leaving behind the likes of 'Indie Rock and Roll' for an electro style 'Spaceman'. The song that caught my attention was 'Human', which at the time I thought was a come back single for Chris De Burgh! That I think says it all. Day and Age is a album of loose ends, shifting from catchy tunes to simple track fillers. The songs with potential soon reach their playability limit and become forgettable. Overall, Day and Age might be the cross road indicating a new direction for The Killers' but personally I think it might send them to a dead end....
