At the moment he has two: Charlie, a Chocolate Labrador and Roger, an Old English Sheepdog, before them there was Jasper, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Magic, Border Collie and Cassie a German Shepherd. ...We bought our king charles cavalier as a puppy just over a year ago. In that time we have grown extremely attached to her and cannot believe what a well behaved dog she is. She is a tri colour and her name is lady, we have found that having a king charles cavalier attracts alot of attention when out on walks and lady loves nothing more than people fussing over her! She very quickly learned to wlak alongside us without the lead and waits for her lead to be attached when told to. She is very friendly towards other dogs and is by no means frightened by other breeds. We have trained her with very little trouble at all, she is house trained and has learned various commands such as sit, lie, paw, stay and so on. ...I had always had Jack Russell dogs but when my last dog Beauty died a few years ago I decided I would not buy another dog because it was so painful when they died. However, my daughter, who had a Springer Spaniel persuaded me to go and look at a litter of CKCS. Molly was the only bitch in a littler of six and I immediately fell in love with her. She is the Blenheim CKCS. Unfortunately, Molly was the "runt" of the litter and she has had health problems. She has dry eyes and I have to give her Optimmune twice a day. I did have pet insurance with Tescos but have now changed it to Saga. Tescos will only insure one ailment for 12 months so beware! Molly also had to have a serious operation for ingrowing hair on the left side of her head. She was very poorly but has made a very good recover. Six months after buying Molly I decided... ...I was flicking through some reviews today and saw one for a breed of dog (which type eludes me for the moment), but it made me think of my beloved pet, Oliver....... All through our childhood, my brother and I longed for a dog. We would repeatedly badger my parents, to no avail. However, most Sundays our hope would soar, when our Dad used to say he was off to "see a man about a dog" - it took years for us to realise that he was actually talking about going for a pint! Eventually, when at about the age of 15 my parents decided they were going to buy a dog, we were ecstatic! Seeing as this occurred over 20 years ago, you will have to excuse the lapses in memory, one of which being why my parents decided on the breed they did, namely the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. ...I remember the day we got you, didn't have a clue what to call you, you fitted in the palm of my hand and because you'd never been in a car before threw up all over the floor when we got you home! You were funny. We named you Wiskey, someone left the "h" out of your name and it stuck. You were a ruby cavalier king charles spaniel, very dopey but absolutely lovely. You would follow my parents around like shadows even to the extent that you got shut in the understairs cupboard one day after following my mum in there and didn't bark to be let out, we found you about 10 mins later just staring up at us, it was very funny. ...At first, when a friend recommended getting a dog cage for our Cav. King Charles Spaniel, Monty, i thought is sounded a bit cruel but now, i'm so glad we got one! Dogs in the wild would naturally sleep in a den and dog cages immitate that den. These wire cages come in a variety of different sizes for all breeds of dogs. These cages are basically made up of a strong plastic tray for a base (so it's really easy to clean) and then, a wire cage over the top. The really good thing about these is that they fold up really compactly so you can take them on holiday with you. To make it really snug and comfy for your dog, you can buy 'Vetbed' which is made especially for dogs, out of a fleecy material so you can line the base of the cage with it.
