One nighter before Eurostar at London Kings Cross Travelodge
Advantages: Convienient for Eurostar
Disadvantages: Not much worked.
...This Travelodge is close to Kings Cross station, London. We stayed one night before catching a Eurostar from St Pancras early the following morning. We booked online several months in advance and paid £49 for a double room, more than we would usually pay for a Travelodge, but this was central London. We were offered breakfast when we checked in but declined as we were leaving so early.
I thought that the building was the nicest Travelodge we have ever seen. The receptionist told us that it was old housing offices. This conversion did however mean that our room was on the fifth floor, and the lift only went to the fourth floor, we then had to walk up some very windy stairs and narrow corridors to reach our room. Part of the charm for me, but could be difficult for anyone not so steady on their feet. Only one of the two lifts was...

Only One Towel? No Wonder The King's Cross...
Advantages: Cheap and central
Disadvantages: Bit noisy, bit grimy in places
...Getting massively discounted tickets to the World Gymnastics Championships was an offer too good to pass up, but I assumed at the time that our good luck would end there and it would still not be the cheapest of weekends down in London. However, I managed to find train tickets from Manchester for £8 each way, and a room in this cheapie Travelodge for a too-good-to-be-true £35, turning our mini break into a bargain of a weekend.
I hadn't stayed in any London Travelodges before, but the city is crawling with them, and my first tip is to make a note of both the name and address of where you are staying. Walking from Euston this is the second one you'll come to (the other is directly next to the station) but we were coming in the other direction from a brief shopping jaunt to Covent Garden and, even though we were physically on Kings...

Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge
Advantages: Great Prices Available
Disadvantages: Make sure you are in good time for brekkie
...As with hotels in this chain you are able to get some really good rates. We recently stayed there for £26!! This is unbeatable value especially for 3 adults. THe hotel is about 5-10 mins walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and is not difficult to find. The rooms are quite large in comparison to other hotels in the chain we have stayed at including a lot of storage space. The room was clean and tidy with a wet room/ bathroom which was also clean. The only fault we had was with the breakfast, it is supposed to be served from 7-10 am. WE arrived at around 9.30, what was left was cold and some of it there wasn't enough to have a portion, they did start to clear away at 9.55 so we had to eat up quick to get decent value. Other than that the stay was good and cheaper than more centrally located hotels...

Cross with Brent Cross
Advantages: Free parking
Disadvantages: Out of fashion shopping mall
...INTRODUCTION
Brent Cross Shopping Centre was one of the first shopping malls to be built in the UK. It was opened in 1973.
Brent Cross is archaic compared to modern shopping centres such as Bluewater and Lakeside Thurrock.
The shopping centre is situated in Northwest London.
BRENT CROSS AND ME
From the mid 1970s to the early 1980s my parents and I regularly visited my uncle in East London.
We combined almost every trip with a visit to Brent Cross.
Most of the time I had nothing to buy so I simply followed my parents like a bored teenager.
In 1980 my school gave me some book vouchers as a reward for running the school tuck shop. I spent these vouchers in WH Smith at Brent Cross.
In 1987 I took my mother to Brent Cross via tube. My father was in India at the time attending his brother’s wedding.
In...

The Foxes and Foxy Ladies of King's Cross, London
Advantages: A treasure trove of acting and writing for Minghella's fans to embrace
Disadvantages: If you are not a fan of the director, you probably wont like it
...of London known as King?s Cross. Will and his partner Sandy (played by ?The Office?s? Martin Freeman) are architects who are determined to make the area ?greener? and ?more efficient,? despite the fact that King?s Cross is rife with burglary, drugs, prostitution. Will?s partner of 10 years is Swedish-American and her name is Liv (Robin Wright Penn); she has a 13-year-old autistic daughter named Bea (Poppy Rogers), an amateur gymnast. The relationship between Will and Liv has been crumbling during the past few months, and the events that will unfold will test their union in more ways than one.
The firm which Will and Sandy have set up in King?s Cross suddenly finds itself invaded by burglars, who have been able to steal all of their assets twice before the police had arrived. Determined to put a stop to it, they decide to stakeout...

Norwegian Magic and a Night in a Palace for £9.
Advantages: Cheap and well decorated with an immaculate bathroom.
Disadvantages: None although some rooms could be noisy due to nightclubs and traffic.
...Just recently our house was buzzing with great excitement. Hubby and I are intense followers of a prog rock band from Norway called Gazpacho-nothing to do with the tasty chilled soup of the same name, but a highly talented group of musicians who were playing their own gig for the first time ever on UK soil.
Having purchased tickets we sought eagerly to book an overnight stay in London, because although it is perfectly possible to get home to Chelmsford, where we live, it is always a mad rush to Liverpool Street after the show, and a really late mid week night which renders us shattered, now we are not quite as youthful as we were!
So it was with great delight that for the silly price of £9 I secured a Travelodge offer and booked one night at the Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge. Now I have stayed in most of the London lodges...

A great little place to stay
Advantages: Generally cheap, very nice, friendly staff
Disadvantages: The London Underground!!!
...I returned from a short theatre break in London yesterday after staying overnight in the Kings Cross Travelodge. We had opted to stay here as in December last year we had a similar DIY theatre break and had called in here to ask for directions to the Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge. We had all agreed at the time that it looked nice, however we had booked the Kings Cross Royal Scot as it had triple rooms. After staying at the Kings Cross Royal Scot, however, we were appalled (see separate review). Because of this we opted to stay in a simple family room at the Kings Cross Travelodge as apposed to stay in the Royal Scot which was absolutely awful.
CHECK-IN
Checking in was very good. We arrived at the hotel at around 11.15 and asked if we could check in early. Early check in was not supposed to start until 12, however the reception...

A place to sleep!
Advantages: clean, good location for transport, helpful staff
Disadvantages: some rooms are very noisy
...I stayed at this Travelodge for a weekend with my parents. It was Dad's birthday so we all met up in London so he could look around the museums, galleries etc. I chose this hotel as their train came in at King's Cross and it seemed an easy location for them to be able to travel around the city from. We stayed form the 22nd until the 25th of February 2008.
I must admit I read a couple of reviews after I had booked it so I was a bit nervous and had images of my mother shouting at me for booking them in to some hell hole! However, when I arrived any fears I had were proved unfounded. The Lobby and bar area all looked as if they had only recently been done and everything looked clean and new. The staff at reception were friendly as I checked in and when I got to my room it was clean and a good size.
The website did warn that due to...

I'VE FOUND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Advantages: Checkin was needlessly annoying
Disadvantages: Apparently doest bookout, as just experienced with a test booking
...* 200 YARDS FROM THE TRAIN STATION
This past weekend saw myself and three friends embark on a trip to London, the reasoning behind it was actually to attend the auditions taking place for Big Brother at the Emirates Stadium, and for some reason this led us to staying at the Kings Cross Travelodge.. I'm not sure if it was actually the closest place to stay considering where we wanted to go, but it was supposed to be close to the train station nonetheless. Apparently there are two Travelodge's in close vicinity to the Kings Cross train station, 'the main hub for London, right?' Those two Travelodge's are Kings Cross and Kings Cross Royal Scot, looking at the pictures it appears they would be difficult to get mixed up as the latter seems to have a much more up to date exterior - I never saw it infront of my eyes, to my knowledge, so it...

Brent Cross Shopping Centre
Advantages: 120 shops and restaurants, clean, all under one roof, free parking (for now!), easy to get to
Disadvantages: can get crowded
...Well this is my local shopping centre so should give it a review?
Brent Cross Shopping Centre is located in North West London, close to Staples Corner. It is easily accessible by car, train or bus. Currently car parking (for 6500 cars) is free but they may start to charge (plans are £1 for up to 2 hours stay, £2 for up to 3 hours stay and so on, so not too bad).
Brent Cross Shopping Centre was opened in 1976 and was the first enclosed shopping centre to be built in the UK. It started out with 75 shops. With expansions in 1995, including a multi storey car park, it now has about 120 shops and cafes. Some of the original retailers which are still there include; John Lewis, Fenwick, WH Smith, Mothercare and Russell & Bromley. In 2002 it became a non-smoking area. The toilets have recently been refurbished and kept nice and clean...
