There is an accordian which as the credits state is being played by Novesolic- with, I assume, Cris Kirkwood (of the Meat Puppets) stepping in on bass. 4. The Man Who Sold The World (4.21) This David Bowie cover starts with electric guitar played by Pat Smear (Formerly of Germs, Nirvana and currently a member of Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters). This is a very good cover, giving the song a bit more weight than the original. Although there is electric guitar, it doesn't detract from the feel of the album as a whole. 5. Smells acoustic, nevermind.

Advantages: The soaring emotion
Disadvantages: Not a thing

..., the way they have been stripped to the core by Cobain's rough vocals and lonely acoustic guitar make them memorable all the same. The next three tracks have a slightly more upbeat feel - country/folk inspired acoustic rock. 'Plateau', 'Oh, me' and 'Lake Of Fire' are amazingly performed and extremely catchy. These tracks may have been written by Cris Kirkwood (not a usual member of Nirvana although a live performer on the night) but were cemented in unplugged history through the torment of Cobain's vocals off-setting the positive undertones. The two closing songs of the performance, 'All Apologies' and 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night' took searing, uncut and painful emotion to new heights as Cobain hacked through the melodic qualities of each track with unusual appeal. Kurts So Good

Advantages: Nirvana Live In Your Sitting Room.
Disadvantages: The Dying Of The Light.

..., this is one of the greatest reworkings of all time. Cobain rarely falters throughout the performance. He does struggle to get to grips with the vocal strains of 'On A Plain' at first but recovers admirably. His humour is very much in evidence highlighting the comfort he took from performing even when he was experiencing excruciating stomach pains. 'All Apologies' is the only track that lacks a killer edge. The version on 'In Utero' is one of Nirvana's crowning moments but here it sounds a tad tired. Nirvana perform 3 songs from the Meat Puppets 'Oh Me', 'Plateau' and 'Lake of Fire'. To add a taste of authenticity Curt Kirkwood from the Meat Puppets plays guitar on all 3 tracks. Each song seamlessly fits in with the unplugged notion. 'Lake of Fire' is particularly impressive, Cobain adopts a croaking southern drawl and the chugging...

Disadvantages: Presenters... the awful studio backdrop... the overall whiff of cheese...

...long (they end up repeating themselves... but I suppose it *is* the news, and different people grab different 15-minute sections of it through the morning) SO WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT IT? I think we'd best number-list this section. 1. The "script". By which I mean the way that when one of the two presenters utters a news nugget, the other one has to look across, nod and exclaim something like "Mmm...yes" or "Yes, that's right". Why? WHY? If I hear a news item I'd like to hear it uninterrupted, without two different presenters murmuring meaningess agreement over the validity or otherwise of the soundbite. 2. That awful, awful weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood. Apparently she won an award as TV weatherperson of the year, so perhaps I'm in a minority here, but she is *so* annoying. Nobody, nd I mean *nobody*, has a right to be that cheerful...

Nirvana - MTV Unplugged

Advantages: so many I couldn't honestly list them all

...complained to Nirvana and wanted to know why certain songs (teen spirit, lithium etc) were not on the playlist. The simple answer is that there are certain songs that just would not sound right when done acoustically. When Kurt mentioned to MTV that he had plans for a couple of guests to take part in the performance, the MTV heads went into panic wondering who it was that Kurt had got to join Nirvana on stage. Rumours circulated that it was Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, but they were to be proved incorrect (as if you could see those two on stage together anyway). It was infact Curt & Cris Kirkwood from the Meat Puppets that Kurt had persuaded to come along. Once the MTV people found out they were less than pleased, expecting a huge name performer and getting a couple of people that not many would know the music of, surely that wouldn't help MTV...

Dracula In Space

Advantages: It Ended
Disadvantages: Direction, script, plot, characters, actors You name it, it was terrible

...characters was often flat and uninteresting. The rest of the cast was made up of Coolio, Erika Eleniak, Tom Lister and Langley Kirkwood to name but a few. All pretty Z list film stars but probably paid vast sums of money to star in this terrible film. None of the characters really stand out and instead of identifying with any of the characters, hoping they survive or Dracula kills them all, I just found myself not really caring. Overall this has to be the biggest waste of time and money. At just over an hour and 40 minutes, you'd be much better going and finding another film. It's a real let down as far as Vampire movies go and offers nothing really interesting. I'm not sure if this has appeared in British cinemas or if it's going straight to video. I wouldn't recommend renting this, buying it or even watching it on TV unless you really, really...
