...The first time I heard of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was when a trailer was played before a screening of Night Watch (awful film, don't go and see it). Anyway, I thought it looked good and quite funny, but after that I didn't really think much more to it. Several months later, I picked up a copy of the DVD and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I'm quite ashamed to say, being the supposed major film fan that I am, that this is the first film I have seen either Val Kilmer or Robert Downey Jr. in. ...Sometimes a movie comes out with little fanfare, disappears with barely a murmur but will go on to be a success as cult viewing at home. It's happened before, mainly with John Carpenter movies and is likely to happen with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The movie was seen as a tough sell for Warner Brothers and despite good reviews they only gave it a small release in the US. A lot of good web buzz couldn't prevent the movie from only scraping together a third of its budget in its theatrical run. That's too bad as it's a pretty good romp with some of the best dialogue you've ever heard. Robert Downey Jr plays Harry Lockhart. A petty criminal who robs stores in New York to get by. ...Can a film noir have hot colours and be a comedy? Can a screenwriter direct an excellent movie at the first attempt? Can Val Kilmer perform as a gay cop? Well the answers in this case are: yes, yes and… yes! "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is Shane Black's debut movie. The name probably doesn't sound familiar, but I can tell you he is a follower of the buddy movie style, and the creator of scripts like "Lethal Weapon" (1987) and "The Last Boy Scout" (1991). The production of Joel Silver and a reduced budget (Warner Bros. was willing to produce the movie with a larger budget if Harrison Ford were to play Gay Perry, the detective) proves to be of extra value and attracted a trio of actors in their comic moment. ...The directorial debut of Lethal Weapon screenwriter Shane Black, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a comic film noir that takes its genre seriously enough that it never becomes a spoof or self-parody like so many recent efforts. Rather it's a deft and original spin that stills packs a few surprises, great leads, and is consistently funny. Disadvantages: Generally only plays r&b and rap music

...Years back Kiss used to be a pirate radio station, and kept on banging out all all of the latest and greatest tunes, soon boosting it's popularity to an all time high. Record companies wanted their songs to be played, people wanted their dedications read out and so the station soon became so popular in fact, that they had to make it a legal, authorised Radio Station. Personally, I think, that after that point came it kind of lost the excitingness of listening to a pirate radio station. They kept on playing all of latest tunes though, so that kept the people happy :) Nowadays, I really don't liten to it that much. This is because they only play a few types of music, r&b, rap and hip hop. Sure these might be found goddly by some people, but nothing really happens for me. ...of them work really well together, sparking off each other, and it is a pleasure to watch them. Hmm, maybe I will give Batman Forever a try after all. Harmony is played by Michelle Monaghan. She looks great and does a pretty good job of the role, although I wasn't exactly bowled over. The emphasis was very much on Harry and Perry though, so that is perhaps not her fault. I love film noir, which I can best describe as rather gritty, or hardboiled, crime fiction with a dark, murky setting. It often involves a cynical private detective who, like Harry, has a past, but is basically good. Although Kiss Kiss Bang Bang certainly has the cynical Harry, it doesn't particularly have the dark, depressing settings, and although it is gritty, it also has a comedy value that I certainly can't remember from the more traditional film noirs I have seen... ...and if it is applicable, pay for entry. When you exit the 'lobby' you are now in the club. The bar is straight ahead of you, good size and always well staffed. On the wall to the right of the bar there is a seating area. The dancefloor is in the middle of the room and is fairly big for the size of the club. There is a big step onto the dancefloor so be careful if you're there. It's about a foot, maybe more. All around the dancefloor at the edges of the room there is more seating and also the DJ box to the left of the entrance next to the dance area. Massa does all different nights including Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Flaunt, Miss Moneypenny, etc. The clientele are an attractive bunch and you will struggle to find an ugly member of staff. If you are not completely comfortable with yourself perhaps Massa isn't the place for you.... Read review
