Mixed bag
Review of Konica Minolta Dimage Z2 by
Bradgate1
Advantages: Good quality pictures
Disadvantages: Unattactive back
...Actually this is a good quality camera as you might expect from Konica. It looks great from the front very professional looking and solid which it is. It is big and definitely not pocket sized. The back looks strangely unfinished and flat. The on off switch is awkward for largish thumbs as well, and we have yet to find out how to turn off the very irritating noises it makes, although we have turned them down. The pictures are very high quality and software good, although on the usual CD-ROM. The batteries (4) last for a very long time and of course it uses rechargeables as well. The lens cap can be easily knocked off however and it is best carried without it. Pictures are easily transferred to any medium with the enclosed USB cable. Also you do not need to use its own software, my Kodak software acepts it just as well....

A great camera
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50 by
cazbo71
Advantages: Easy to use - large screen
Disadvantages: You need to buy a bigger memory card
...The Konica Minolta X50 is very small and slim and yet has a 2 inch screen. It has 5 megapixals. It is very easy to use - you just point and click, and the pictures are superb quality even on a lower setting. You can also take a small amount of video which is great for catching those moments with the kids. The battery life is excellent - I carry this camera around with me all the time and I recharge the battery once a week - you just clip it on the charger and it takes about 20 minutes. You do need to purchase a bigger memory card and it does not come with a case but apart from that this camera is great. I would definitely recommend this camera for people who are scared to go digital as it is very simple to use. It also comes with PictBridge. I print my photos out on the Epson PictureMate which I just slide my memory card...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE X by
fish1n
Advantages: Super easy to use, light and portable and a great first digital camera for all
Disadvantages: The software is unsatisfactory, and the SD card included is far from what it could be
...This camera is perhaps one of the most user-friendly cameras that I have encountered. It avoids the trap of many other digital cameras, with only a few buttons which are multifunctional, as opposed to lots of one-use buttons. This combines with the easy navigation of the camera menus to make the DiMAGE very easy to use.
The LCD display is also impressive. The refresh rate is much faster than on other digital camaeras. As a result, it maintains a sharp picture when moved suddenly. However, like many LCD displays, it is only visible face on, with a very small angle view. Moreover, fingerprints greatly affects the view and, although I haven't damaged the screen yet, it is prone to damage, especially from excess pressure on the screen.
Other features help to make this camaera an all round good buy. The quick start up time, literally 1...

The Weatherproof Digital Compact
Review of Olympus µ[MJU:] 300 Digital by
Ormazd
Advantages: Gorgeous design, weatherproofing is a plus, easy to use
Disadvantages: Few override options, no sound on the video mode, loses out in the value stakes these days
...Olympus' Mju series of 35mm compact cameras have been hugely successful, and it was only a matter of time until Olympus applied the same winning formula to their compact digital range. The Mju 300 packs in three million pixels and a 3x optical zoom lens into a tiny, ultra-compact metal body that also has the added bonus of being weatherproof. This is not genuine waterproofing, but the Mju will survive a light shower intact. The Mju 300 was very successful when it was released, appealing to people through its good looks and pedigree and its pretty good image quality.
That was nearly two years ago, though, and things have changed. We've seen Pentax and Casio dominate the ultra-compact market, and other companies such as Konica (now the Konica Minolta G series cameras) vastly improve on the image quality and operating speed. Today, the Mju...

Konica Minolta A200
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 by
psilk
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, range of functions, lens quality, anti shake function
Disadvantages: Viewfinder not the best, low light autofocus
...Although Konica Minolta have now ceased making cameras, there are still a few of these around (and warranty/service has been handed over to Sony).
The A200 is the last of KM bridge mount digital cameras in the pro-sumer market. It has a 8m pixel CCD and 28 to 200 (35mm equivalent) manual zoom lens - much better than a motor driven lens which tend to have noticeable "stops".
Although fairly big (not quite as big as a D-SLR) and quite heavy, the range of functions available from fully automatic to fully manual with a number of programme modes in between means that you get pretty much all the benefits of a D-SLR in a smaller, more convenient package. It's no pocket camera however.
A number of items standout:- the excellent quality lens (which has very little barrel distortion or vignetting) and which can take both wide...

Dimage Z5. A camera that's not too snappy
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z5 by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Light weight
Disadvantages: Anti-shake not too hot
...Part of my job involves taking photographs. Previously I had used a heavy but exceptionally good and hardworking semi-pro Canon Powershot G2, but this was replaced with a Konica Minolta Z5. In theory this should have been better. It was somewhat lighter, and had higher resolution with 5 mega pixels.
That was the theory, but the truth is somewhat different. The view screen is useless when used outdoors, as it cannot be tilted (as that on the Canon can) so is not useable whilst in direct sunlight.
Whilst the camera is reasonably easy to hold (it is clear that attention to detail has been given to the ergodynamic design of the camera) it has been designed in such a way that it is not easy for left-handed people to use. The menu, however, is easy to access and fairly easy to use.
The flip up flash unit is a good idea and works...
