Konica Minolta 2550 - a step up from the entry level printer

Advantages: Quality prints, quiet
Disadvantages: A little expensive to run

...The Magicolor 2550 is positioned as one of Konica Minolta's entry level colour laser printers, well almost entry level, as it offers some very nice features without taking the price of the device too high. The specification on offer from this full colour model is a cracking 20ppm (pages per minute) in monochrome and 5ppm in full colour. The native resolution is 600dpi with a x4 dithering method which beefs this up to an effective 2,400dpi. The model on review here is the standard model, which has 128MB of memory, is network ready and offers Postscript 3 printer language in addition to PCL6 and PDF support. The 2550DN which is the next model up adds a built-in duplexer and has 256MB of memory, it also adds Pictbridge support for direct connection of a compatible digital camera. Both models are capable of handling a monthly duty cycle...

Konika-Minolta Magicolor with magical printed colours

Advantages: Vivid colours, reliable, prints beautifully
Disadvantages: Photo printing quality is only 7/10 in my rating

...We bought our Konika Minolta Magicolor 2350 laser printer four years ago. We use it at home but I print quite frequently. We decided to buy this printer because it is specially designed for optimal performance in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other environments as well. This was important for us, as I use Windows but my husband is an IT professional and uses several other operation systems on his computers and sometimes also he wants to print something. He worked for a company where there were a lot of printers of this type and he had really good opinion about them. This opinion hasn?t changed since then. Price of the printer and cartridges When we bought it, it was on offer, so it was ?only? £650. It was a serious discount because its full price is £900. There are four cartridges in it plus the drum cartridge, we had to change...

Konica Minolta A200

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, range of functions, lens quality, anti shake function
Disadvantages: Viewfinder not the best, low light autofocus

...Although Konica Minolta have now ceased making cameras, there are still a few of these around (and warranty/service has been handed over to Sony). The A200 is the last of KM bridge mount digital cameras in the pro-sumer market. It has a 8m pixel CCD and 28 to 200 (35mm equivalent) manual zoom lens - much better than a motor driven lens which tend to have noticeable "stops". Although fairly big (not quite as big as a D-SLR) and quite heavy, the range of functions available from fully automatic to fully manual with a number of programme modes in between means that you get pretty much all the benefits of a D-SLR in a smaller, more convenient package. It's no pocket camera however. A number of items standout:- the excellent quality lens (which has very little barrel distortion or vignetting) and which can take both wide...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X

Advantages: Super easy to use, light and portable and a great first digital camera for all
Disadvantages: The software is unsatisfactory, and the SD card included is far from what it could be

...This camera is perhaps one of the most user-friendly cameras that I have encountered. It avoids the trap of many other digital cameras, with only a few buttons which are multifunctional, as opposed to lots of one-use buttons. This combines with the easy navigation of the camera menus to make the DiMAGE very easy to use. The LCD display is also impressive. The refresh rate is much faster than on other digital camaeras. As a result, it maintains a sharp picture when moved suddenly. However, like many LCD displays, it is only visible face on, with a very small angle view. Moreover, fingerprints greatly affects the view and, although I haven't damaged the screen yet, it is prone to damage, especially from excess pressure on the screen. Other features help to make this camaera an all round good buy. The quick start up time, literally 1...

Can Konica?

Advantages: Tiny, very cute, great pictures
Disadvantages: Viewing screen size and quality

...You might have read my reviews of other digital cameras recently, I seem to be a bit obsessed with them! Anyway, this is my latest acquisition! Well, it was really a gift for my daughter, who requested a digital camera that was "small and cool looking" for Christmas. This was the choice that I made for her. In the interests of research for this review, I have used the camera on several trips and am now very familiar with how it operates. The first thing that I must mention is that this is a SMALL camera!! It makes my other cameras look and feel like bricks. It is the size of a pack of cards, but feels quite solid and substantial. Its small size doesn't make it feel cheap and lightweight. The body is silver and mostly metal with a plastic sliding cover for the lens. The camera is supplied with a lanyard but no case/pouch, this...

Review Minolta Z2

Advantages: Infinately (well almost) settings, accurate settings, only for the keen photographers
Disadvantages: autofocus and metering inaccurate, not good for occasional snappers

...I bought a Minolta Z2 about 6 months ago. I have been an avid amateur photographer for years, done the photographic clubs etc, got bored with the expense of processing etc and I have always had Minolta cameras. But then the digital cameras came along and changed all that. There aint nothing wrong with Minolta?s reliability, but there?s certainly an air of cheapness of the finish when it comes to Konica, but times are hard, they?re squeezing more and more out of nothing and that costs nothing. But it seems to me that as Minolta are still in control of the upper markets (e.g. 7Hi). It looks like Konica have stamped their position on the lower end cameras, i.e. this one and its predecessors: Z1, Z10 blah, blah. The workings have definitely the stamp of Minolta, I just hope that the Konica haven?t compromised with the quality...

Review of Minolta DiMAGE A1

Dimage Z5. A camera that's not too snappy

Advantages: Light weight
Disadvantages: Anti-shake not too hot

...Part of my job involves taking photographs. Previously I had used a heavy but exceptionally good and hardworking semi-pro Canon Powershot G2, but this was replaced with a Konica Minolta Z5. In theory this should have been better. It was somewhat lighter, and had higher resolution with 5 mega pixels. That was the theory, but the truth is somewhat different. The view screen is useless when used outdoors, as it cannot be tilted (as that on the Canon can) so is not useable whilst in direct sunlight. Whilst the camera is reasonably easy to hold (it is clear that attention to detail has been given to the ergodynamic design of the camera) it has been designed in such a way that it is not easy for left-handed people to use. The menu, however, is easy to access and fairly easy to use. The flip up flash unit is a good idea and works...

SUPER LENSES!!!

Advantages: Clear vision, stablity, allows more oxygen to eyes
Disadvantages: Price

...I am so glad i found these lenses!!. I have tried at least five different toric lenses, these are by far the best. The vision is much clearer than any of the other lenses i tried and they hardly rotate compared to others. I would definetly advice to try these lenses, trial them for free from your opticians. When i first tried these lenses they felt weird on my eyes and a bit uncomfortable as they are a bit thicker than other lenses but after a couple of days my eyes adjusted to them and now i am over the moon that i have finally found a pair of lenses that i can see clearly out of and do not need to wear glasses in the daytime anymore ( i wear glasses only when i take the lenses out usually evening time) They are a bit costly but they allow more oxygen to the eyes compared to others....
