Konica Minolta 2550 - a step up from the entry level printer

The specification on offer from this full colour model is a cracking 20ppm (pages per minute) in monochrome and 5ppm in full colour. The native resolution is 600dpi with a x4 dithering method which beefs this up to an effective 2,400dpi. The model on review here is the standard model, which has 128MB of memory, is network ready and offers Postscript 3 printer language in addition to PCL6 and PDF support. Magicolour but not Magical! Konica Minolta Magicolor 2450 Printer

...As with most ICT departments in schools we have the need for occasioanl colour laser printing and to this end we purchased a Magicolor 2450. The initial purchase price was reasonable (£450 ish) and the feature list impressed us. The Product The printer itself has a fairly small footprint it is about 19 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 18 inches high. A cheap, high quality colour laser printer

Advantages: Small, excellent quality output, takes glossy paper and networkable too

...Having paid £250 for this printer, I have found it to be an outstanding quality colour laser printer for home use. To start by looking at it's size, the printer takes up much less desk space than my previous colour laser printer. It is 430 mm wide, 395 mm deep and 341 mm high. On the front of the printer is a fold down tray were you feed in the paper, which then comes out at the top. Above the paper tray is another fold down area where the toners go. In terms of print QUALITY this printer gives an excellent finish with a semi-shiny appearance. Having compared it to printers costing over twice as much (such as the OKI 5000 series) the print quality is as good, in my opinion. These printers are an absolute nightmare...

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Clunky, Noisy, Toner Leakage, Paper Pickup Problems, Sensor Problems, Cheaply Built, The List Goes On...

...We bought 6 of these printers back in early 2005 and after 1 year, were riddled with different problems - e.g. paper not picking up, numerous paper jams, "cyan/magenta/yellow/black toner not installed" error messages (will get to this one later), video underrun error (which basically colour washed the whole page it happened to be printing at the time.) Even after a month we had to call konica minolta to send out a printer engineer because 2 of our printers refused to pick up any paper, and these 2 still have trouble picking up paper even now. The insides of these printers can get very dirty with toner which will cause a whole load of other problems like the "X toner not installed" error messages mentioned above. KONICA KD 400Z - A nice compact camera.

Advantages: Small, compact, good display screen, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Red eye control is poor, and pictures can be grainy when taken in poor lighting

Having broken my last camera, which was a 1.3 megapixel Oregon Scientific with no LCD screen, it was time to start looking around for a new one. The prices of cameras have come down dramatically over the last couple of years, and so we decided to go for a 4 megapixel camera. We trawled the internet looking for a good deal, and found the Konica. I paid £247 for this camera, but have seen them on the net since for £174. This camera has since been superseded by the Konica KD 410Z which my husband has bought. (But that is in anotherreview.) The Konica KD 400Z doesn?t come with a lot of memory, so we bought a 256MB memory card for it. Dell 725 color printer

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: does not print in true black ink color

...This printer has NEVER printed in true (or even close...) black "color". Contacting Dell support, I was told "your printer is no longer under warranty", so they would not even offer assistance. I never used it much (it was bundled with the laptop), so now when I needed it for a project, it is very disappointing that it does not work. I have downloaded and installed the "latest" driver (from 2006!) and that still did not help. I re-ran the printers test pattern and head cleaner, and no black ever printed. The test pattern is blue, pink, yellow and brownish-green. Given other's comments here about the black being a greenish-grey, I would never buy another single-cartridge printer again. I would definitely suggest you purchase a printer that has a dedicated black cartridge. Fast speed accounts for nothing if the colors are screwy!...
