Review of Konica Revio

KONICA KD 400Z - A nice compact camera.

Advantages: Small, compact, good display screen, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Red eye control is poor, and pictures can be grainy when taken in poor lighting

...I thought that it is about time I updated this review again, so I have added a bit more info. Having broken my last camera, which was a 1.3 megapixel Oregon Scientific with no LCD screen, it was time to start looking around for a new one. The prices of cameras have come down dramatically over the last couple of years, and so we decided to go for a 4 megapixel camera. We trawled the internet looking for a good deal, and found the Konica. I paid £247 for this camera, but have seen them on the net since for £174. This camera has since been superseded by the Konica KD 410Z which my husband has bought. (But that is in anotherreview.) The Konica KD 400Z doesn?t come with a lot of memory, so we bought a 256MB memory card for it. On a 256MB card, I get 144 pictures at the highest resolution, but even on a 64 MB card, you can get 40...

...The Konica Digital Revio KD 100 was the first Megapixel Digital camera with an LCD preview screen to retail on the U.K. High Street for under £100 and as a camera has been around for quite a while. Whilst its there's now around half a dozen or more 2 megapixel cameras on sale for the same price as the revio, with Konica recently introducing it's own 2 megapixel DC 25 retailing at only £10 more, is the KD 100 a good buy or not? Looking around the over 25 reviews of this camera on review centre.com it seems to come in for a hard time from buyers with battery life, image quality driver problems and niggling faults being the main reasons for criticism. Some people were unhappy with the image quality that they returned the camera to the store for a different model, whilst others were disgruntled at the the apparently short battery life...

Review of Konica Digital Revio KD-100

Revio KD-500Z - Good Value for money

Advantages: Small, fast, Good quality
Disadvantages: custom battery, auto-focus can be slow

...computer equipment so I've stuck with 128MB SD memory and get around 100 pics from that with normal compression at max resolution. The battery lasts well enough for this. As it uses a custom battery its worth purchasing an extra one if you are going to be away for a while although the charger is fairly small and is auto-voltage sensing. The small size does mean that I can carry in my jeans pocket and as the lens fully retracts into the body with the case protecting it I dont worry about damage. I had a battery charger that went bad after about three months but Konica quickly dispatched me a new one and I have not had any problems since then. Well worth considering!...

Small and practical

...I am the proud owner of a Konica Revio with a 48mm zoom. A real advantage of the camera is its small and ergonomic shape. The design is quite elegant and the metal case makes the camera robust and quite indestructible. If it really has to, you can even fit it into your jacket or trousers ? although it is quite uncomfortable. The Revio is quite easy to use, but some buttons are a bit on the small side. If you want to change the picture format, just push the switch. The pictures you get are really good and I especially like the Panorama format. But beware of using Panorama all too often, because it is the most expensive to develop. The Revio does well when compared to other competitors, especially price-wise. Canon?s Ixus series costs considerably more. The only downside on owning an APS-camera is that the pictures take longer to...

Not a bad bargain

Advantages: Build, picture quality, ease of use
Disadvantages: Flash is a bit harsh, not much flexibility

...I have a confession to make first of all. I put next-to no thought into buying this camera. I'd just got very lucky and had won some money on an online casino, so was feeling very flush. I decided one lunchtime to go to a camera shop and buy a digital camera with my winnings. And within 2 minutes, I was walking back out of the shop with a Konica Revio 410. That was January 2003, and I paid £300 for it at the time. A few weeks after I'd bought it, I found out it had been getting pretty good reviews, so I seemed I hadn't wasted my money after all! I'd always been sceptical of digital cameras, being an avowed 35mm user. The resolution wasn't good enough to make prints come out with decent quality, and I was very dubious about the picture quality. However, having owned one for about a year now, I think they're fantastic...
