...havinng owned the bat for the last two seasons and using it almost religiously in this time i feel my review is a good benchmark for looking into buying this cricket bat. The new kahuna cricket bat was realeased prior to the summer o 2008. The kahuna range is very high profile within cricket with pro players using the range such as Australian captain Ricky ponting. I was drawn to the big kahuna by the promise of a big middle and a huge profile on the bat that will still have great handling and pickup, i was skeptical at first as it was a rather cheap price of £89.99 which for a big bat is bargain. When the bat arrived i was amazed at the sheer size of the blade itself , people were even commenting on the thickness of the edges and middle. The bat weighed in at 2 pounds and 11 ounzes which is alot of weight to throw around in a bat but...

Got Wood?

...Being a love of all things cricket, I have gone through my fair share of bats. I get bored easily or find faults easily. In fact, I often end up blaming poor performance on the bat if times are bad. So, in a nutshell, a good piece of wood is key to cricketing satisfaction. This was, unbelievably, my first Kookaburra bat of any description. It was purchased for me by a family member so I cannot honestly be sure of the cost of it but I knew from when I first picked it up that it was of good quality. Being a very aggressive player, I rely on the bats being chunky in order for them to be regularly hit for the maximum and this bat is definitely chunky alright. A common balancing problem is that a bat will be really chunky and therefore very heavy which makes life uncomfortable for the batsmen, unless they possess extreme power...

Can You Do The Cancan?

...I just came across this book in the school library the other day and it was the thought of a cancan relating to a children's book that drew me to it. Julia Jarman wrote this book after two trips: the first to her son's wedding in Australia where she saw kangaroos, kookaburras, possums, wombats etc and the second was a trip to France and while sitting in a French cafe the following words came in to her head: " Kangaroo went to France and saw a great dance....." ~ The story ~ It begins with the sentence above... ...The Bat The Bat is a very good Bat. The middle is'nt very big, although when you hit it, boy, its beautiful. Its so natural and i would probably say when you hit the middle it is delicious. the bat is made of high quality kashmir willow, and because it is kookaburra you can bet that it was very well made. All bats are pre-knocked in, but kookaburra do recommend at least 1 hour of knocking in. Feel The bat feels very good. Its light and very manuverable. Its very good if you like light bats, like myself. the only bad thing i could say about the feel, is that as soon as you dont hit the middle, you get that horrible feeling in your hands, which is not unusual, but it happend alot more with my kookaburra, compared to my new woodworm. A zoo for all the family! Tropical Wings

Disadvantages: Only half a day, can be crowded

...hot in there so I would not wear a sweater! The house has many beautiful butterflies and also lots of interesting tropical plants. In the tropical house there is a big pond with some massive (the biggest fish I have seen.) koi carp which can you feed for 30p a bag. Also in the house were a couple of large iguanas, tortoises and some birds that were not parrots that could speak! Other great parts to visit were the Savannah Plains which is home to 3 enormous sulcata tortoises which are the third largest type of tortoise. The reptile house has tanks with more tortoises, lizards and some cocoons which were all very interesting to look at. Around Tropical Wings there are many birds including parrots, owls, vultures, lovebirds, kookaburras, macaws and many others. Also here are many farm animals such as goats, guinea pigs, a few loose chickens...

...the 4000 to the 5000 is that the 5000 is lighter pressed, and therefore has greater power. I plumped for the 2lb 9oz model, which is a little lighter than average for a cricket bat, but means you can swing the bat faster! The Price I purchased my bat for £120 from a small chain of cricket shops called Romida. Although this may sound expensive for a single piece of sporting gear, my previous bat was a Kookaburra bubble and lasted me 4 full years, so cricket bats really prove the rule that you get what you pay for. I looked around and could have got the bat for maybe £10 cheaper had I purchased online, but I prefer to have a feel of a bat before purchasing, and I have been to Romida before and they have always offered good service. Experience of the Product Thus far, I have only used the bats for one or two matches...
