Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. ...Ever since Twilight came out in the cinema, I seem to have developed a bit of a fascination with vampire fiction, having read many books, incluing many Anne Rice, the whole Twilight series, Let The Right One In, the Historian, and of course, the original - Bram Stokers Dracula . I bought my copy for £3.49 new from Amazon, but the jacket price is £6.99, as with most books now, if you shop around you are pretty much guaranteed to get a deal on it, and I know that it's much cheaper used. At present the first five books are available in paperback, the sixth (Tempted) was released in hardcover on October 27th 2009, and should be available in paperback 7-10-2010. A seventh book, Burned, has been announced with an expected release date of May 2010. **History and background** This is another saga of teenage/young adult vampire fiction, a genre which regularly comes back into vogue. Hunted down...but not quite as enjoyable!

Advantages: The next book in the series.
Disadvantages: Not as strong storywise as the previous books.

Graceling - A fantastic heroine

Advantages: A great heroine, lots of action.
Disadvantages: Ending slightly anti-climatic.

...still be in danger. This is a fantastic debut novel from Kristin Cashore. For me, its main strength was its heroine, Katsa. She was violent and ruthless, an exceptional fighter, and strong and determined. She also cared deeply about others, and struggled to find her place in the world. Watching her ability to trust and her self-esteem grow other the novel was wonderful. The love story was equally as good, sweet and heart-warming, while staying as unconventional and unashamedly feminist as the main character herself. Po, too, was a great character. He was never threatened by Katsa's strength, but instead respected her skill and power as a fighter. Throughout the book he tried to help her learn to accept herself, and to help her come to terms with her Grace. Katsa was definitely the heroine, and the strongest character in the book, but...
