Super Duper Kuala Lumpur!!
Advantages: Larger than life bustling city, lots to do and see
Disadvantages: Not for anyone who likes an early night, long flight
...could walk to the local markets, restaurants and bars. There are hundreds of hotel in Kuala Lumpur and you would definitely not be stuck for somewhere to stay while you are there. There are literally hundreds of skyscraper buildings. As we were only in KL for three days, I am unable to comment on the accommodation that much as we did not really visit any hotels aside from the one we were staying in. As mentioned before, our hotel was in a prime location, offered excellent customer service and the rooms were very clean and comfortable.
CURRENCY
In Malaysia, their currency is the Ringgit. While we were out there, the exchange rate was £1 for RM 7.00
GETTING AROUND KL
Getting around KL was very easy indeed. We found that the main town, although large was quite compact so you did not have to walk for miles between shops...

Take me to the Hilt. Take me to Hilton Kuala Lumpur!
Advantages: Modern, Clean, Luxurious. Great price!
Disadvantages: Having to say goodbye. Too much choice for food!
...If you have read my Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur review you may question why I would even contemplate staying at a different property. The answer to this would be price. Hilton managed to entice me to stay at their flagship Asian property In February and March this year due to a 70% discount promotion. Given the nature of the recession I thought it was best to slim my expenditure down to size and took a Grand Executive Suite at £110 a night. The usual price for this would be in excess of £250 a night and when you see the room, you can clearly understand why.
Hilton KL opened in 2004 and established itself as a major player in the KL hotel market and was soon crowned the accolade of Hilton?s flagship Asian property. When you visit it is easy to understand why! The hotel is always in the top three of hotels in KL on trip advisor and it...

5 Star Luxury starting at £20 a night! - Renaissance Kuala Lumpur
Advantages: Cheapest 5 star property in KL. Excellent western property. Great facilities and staff.
Disadvantages: Not as fresh as other 5* properties but at this price, who cares??!
...When I first moved to Malaysia I didn?t realise how cheap the hotels were out there. It was only once I got talking to the locals did I realise how cheap you could holiday for in Kuala Lumpur. A good 4* hotel room could be as cheap as £15 a night! I soon decided to investigate this further and look at what you could actually get for your £ in this amazing city.
When I lived in Malaysia I lived about 1hr from Kuala Lumpur in a small town. On the weekends KL is where it was ?at? so I soon began staying in hotels there for the weekend. My first foray into the KL hotel scene was with the Renaissance, a good western brand that is part of the Marriott group.
In September 2005 I decided to give the Renaissance a go and here is my story.
Booking
Before I booked I spoke to the hotel reservations team directly to discuss the differences in...

Kuala Lampur - Where you dont find Kuala
Advantages: People, Shopping, Food, Spots
Disadvantages: Crime
...I'v been here last year in January for my Management Training, was there for 5days out which 2 days were my training & rest i was exploring KL With my friends.
Kl is the capital of malaysia, and singapore & thailand are its neigbouring countires. There are people from different places over here, like English, Chinese, Malay,Indian & so on.
The language spoken over here is Malay or English. I stayed in the Prince Hotel which is 4 star hotel & its really good one if you see the services they give you 325Ringates.(Ringates its the local currency of Malaysia 4Ringates=$1). so the price of staying at such a hotel was quite cheap. My room was at 12th floor so was having a good view of KL, also petronas Tower is quite near to it.
The KL Internationa Airport is just brilliant, once you land over here and you see the architecture...

Kuala Lumpur
Advantages: Cheap, friendly, culture shock
Disadvantages: Can be very humid
...we went to KL in spring this year, following recommendation from my father. we did not know quite what to expect, having never been to S.E Asia before. On arriving you are greeted by a fabulous airport, and then travel several miles through old plantation land, which is currently being transformed into 'Cyberjaya', where hi-tech businesses are being encouraged to settle, and a range of housing.
KL itself is bustling, and admittedley is grubby, and congested, but is a fabulous place to visit. It still has an air of times passed, even though Malaysia, and its capital are very into electronics etc. It is quite easy to find old colonial buildings, some of which house restaurants and bars.
You should not miss Chinatown (Petaling Street) at night when the stalls are set out, it is an experience, haggling over the price of something...

Amazing Kuala Lumpur
Advantages: Amazing city with spectacular views
Disadvantages: The humidity
...I visited Kuala Lumpur (KL) in October 2003 after spending a week on the wonderful island of Pangkor. When I arrived I was slightly shell shocked at the size of all the buildings and almost fell out of a taxi because I was so pre-occupied with the amazing skyline.
Our hotel, The Mandarin Oriental, was right next to the Petronas Towers and the KLCC shopping centre. It is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in and we got a great deal for the room. The service was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Most of the shopping plazas are full of designer shops that i was not expecting. You can save quite a bit of money on the designer labels that can be had but they are not cheap. The best value for money items that I found were make up and perfume from the department stores and, strangely enough, luggage. I bought 2...

Kuala Lumpur the place to be...
Advantages: Great shopping citty
Disadvantages: A bit far away
...If you want to go shopping and you have the money for a plane ticket, then you sould definetly go to Kuala Lumpar, in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpar (KL) is in central Malaysia and it is very hot and sunny.
KL is perfect for shopping and you'll find anything and everything, plus everything is so cheap.
If you go to the little shops and small buisness's you can even barter, which is even better.
You can even visit the famous Twin Towers in KL, it's a wonderful building to go up and see... It's an amazing piece of architecture.
You should definetly go to KL if you are any where near it...
It would definetly be a crime to miss out on this wonderful city......

Want to Live in Malaysia?
Advantages: Modern facilities, conveniently located, friendly people, lots to do
Disadvantages: None
...We were in Kuala Lumpur, commonly known as KL, sitting in an Irish pub (for a change!) when we spotted a copy of "The Expat" magazine. Having expat-related business ventures ourselves, although not Malaysia-based, naturally we were interested to read this glossy magazine - it turned out to be an excellent publication - and discovered that there was to be an Expat Expo in the nearby Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 29 and 30 September 2007.
Well, we were in KL on holiday, had no business materials with us, and no smart clothes. But we decided to go and have a look anyway, as we're always interested in expat-related things. It was well worth while.
This was the first Expat Expo organised by "The Expat", but the general consensus among the attendees seemed to be that they hoped it would become an annual event. Certainly if it...

Flying Free In Kuala Lumpur
Advantages: Natural surroundings, lots of species, excellent value for money
Disadvantages: None
..., Butterfly Park and some beautiful landscaped gardens so you can combine all the attractions and only pay the one taxi fare and make a day of it.
Opening Hours
The Bird Park is open all year except for any religious holidays. Opening hours are 9am 6.30pm every day including Sundays and Public holidays.
Admission Prices
Tourists pay higher admission fees than the locals do. Locals pay 12 ringets for an adult and 6 ringets for a child. Tourists will pay 22 ringets for an adult and 15 ringets for a child which is £3.30 for an adult and £2.60 for a child in English money. As you can see the prices were more than reasonable.
About The Bird Park
The KL Bird Park was opened in 1991 by the Queen of Malaysia, Tunku Bainun.
The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is the largest walk in aviary in the world. The bird park is set across 8 acres of land and is...

Not So Super Lumpur
Advantages: A Modern City On The Way Up.
Disadvantages: Lacking The Intensity Of Many Other South East Asian Cities.
...with men. Many girls and women still wear the traditional head gear but it is styled like a scarf and not like the balaclava as worn in the Middle East. While resorts like Batu Farranghi in Penang continue to suffer in the downtown the tourists will eventually return.
Being so close to the equator the climate in Malaysia can be stifling hot and in the hours around midday it is hard to be out in the open at all. While the heat is bearable if you are lying on a beach it can be too much to take in the big cities. The 3 main cities in the country are the historically colonial Georgetown in Penang, Melaka near the south and the capital Kuala Lumpur.
With such an exotic name as Kuala Lumpur (the Malaysians call it KL) it is easy to be disappointed when you actually arrive in the city. Compared with other capitals in South East Asia, KL (like...
