Sony VAIO SR29XN/S - Expensive - But Quality First,Cost Second.

KV28FX20 A good all rounder.

Advantages: Good Picture, reasonable Sound.
Disadvantages: Relatively high price in comparison to other manufacturers

...Sony have always been a manufacturer who like to stay at the top of the market and the launch nearly 18 months ago of the FX20 in its current form merely confounds this. Incororating Sony's WEGA technology, the picture is exceptionally good for a "basic" 50hz television, and coupled with a DVD player the effect is simply stunning. The set is catered for in the sound department with a simple Nicam setup which although not particularly technologically advanced, is effective none the less. If you're really looking for a Pro-Logic set, Sony also manufacture the KV28FS20 which is identical in every way except that it has a Dolby Pro-Logic setup in preference to it's Nicam equivalent. In summary, the FX20 is a fantastic set, though if you can afford the 100hz set then you will obviously reap the benefits (the KV28FX60). If you're looking to...

The Panasonic NV DS29B - What Its Like.

Advantages: Good Average Weight, Very Simple To Use.
Disadvantages: Menus Quite Hard To Navigate.

...understand. The main two difficulties I found with the camera was navigating the cameras menus and remembering which cables go where when connecting it to the television. When going thorough the menus you use the vertical scrolling wheel that is also be pressed to select. Unless you press it properly you may turn the wheel as well, this can get very annoying indeed! However, overall it is fairly easy to use. I would say that the durability on this camera is very good but to make it like this Panasonic have also had to add weight. However, it is has an average weight, which is good for average time filming. If you do wish to make longer movies, e.g. 15+ minutes, I would recommend buying a tripod. Sony KV28LS60

Advantages: Excellant picture quality at an affordable price
Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of space compared to LCD or Plasma

...There are two versions of Sony's KV28LS range a 35 and 60. The only difference as far as I am aware is that the LS60 has a scanning rate of 100HZ, rather than the 50HZ of the 35. I purchased the LS60 approximately 18months which at the time cost just over £600, no doubt it has fallen in price since then. I opted for the LS60 because of the enhanced scanning rate and the difference in price was negligible. This is actually the second LS60 I have owned, when the first arrived two of the scart sockets did not work. However, within a week Comet had delivered a new TV which (touch wood) I have had no problems with. Additional point here, order from Comet's website rather than store for a significant discount, you retain the benefit of being able to go into a store if you have any problems but get a significant discount when ordering...

...I've only had this TV for a couple of weeks now but so far I'm well impressed. I'd heard very good things about it before buying but once I got it home I was blown away. My previous tele was a 29" 4:3 Panasonic so I was used to a big tele but it was the picture quality which was so impressive. Combined with a Sky Digibox the colours are really sharp and vibrant. The reason I've finally gone for a widescreen tele is that a lot of stuff is now being transmitted in widescreen (football & cricket on Sky, most BBC and Channel 4 programs) plus I've got a DVD player. There are also settings to cope with letterbox transmitions and 4:3 and 14:9. There are 3 Scart sockets on the back of the TV plus an S-Video and composite input on the front.
