Reviews of kwik save
good bargains
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
supermac
Advantages: good prices
Disadvantages: could be a little more appealing
...Kwik save has always been my favourite supermarket and i was quite annoyed when Somerfield took over and wiped our local store of the face of the planet. Somerfield are much more expensive as are other shops and if kwik save was marketed better and didn't play secind fiddle to it's other half then it would make more pfofits just like it used to. Overall this store has great prices and ii is a store that targets people who like no fuss or fancy packaging, just good quality, low price food and goods....

Kwik Save....You Gotta Be Joking
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
wilsam00
Advantages: See Opinion
Disadvantages: See Opinion
...My local Kwik Save store is located there my house, which is quite convenient for me to pop in and grab a few bits and bobs which saves me driving a 3mile journey to Tescos or Asda. Kwik Save is a shop a little like Aldi’s or all days. Kwik Save is for the basics of food but not for the weekly shop.
History of Kwik Save…
1959 The company began trading as Value Stores Ltd.
1965 The first Kwik Save store opened in Rhyl, North Wales
1970 The company was floated on the stock exchange
1970-1978 The company expanded through organic acquisitions and the takeover of other super market stores such as Cee’n’Cee.
1981 Kwik Save acquired Coleman’s Ltd, which manages food and non-food items.
1986 Kwik Save. Acquisition of Tastes Ltd.-A small market chain known as late shopper convenience store.
1989 Kwik Save...

Is it Somerfield or Kwik Save no one knows
Review of Somerfield (Shop) by
galls
Advantages: a good store network
Disadvantages: different prices and names of stores
...Somerfield were a decent chain BEFORE they made a complete horlicks and bought the ailing Kwik Save chain .
As soon as they did this the share price of Somerfield started to decline and in total at the worst point the group lost eighty percent of it's value .
They have recovered slightly and the worst may be over but the Kwik Save episode has been a complete and uttter mess.
Kwik Save was a decent brand before Somerfield got their hands on it and now they don't know what to do with it . The Somerfield named stores sell a different range of goods and at higher prices than the Kwik Save named ones .
What a carry on ! They should decide what they want to call themselves and stick to it . Then they will not be taking customers for a ride as they are now and things will begin to settle down.
The management team has changed and thank...

Kwik Save will always be way behind the big stores
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
Benniash
Advantages: Good deals, never too busy
Disadvantages: Poor staff and layout
...My local Kwik Save is handy due to it's closeness and offers some good deals quite regularly but unfortunatley the cons out way the pro's by a long way.
For some reason the store appears to be grubby and unorganised but the biggest problem are the staff. As a businessman myself I feel that alonside customers, the staff are the key to a successful business. Not only do the staff run the everyday operations of the store they are also representatives of the company. Now I don't mean to be rude, and I am generalising to a certain extent, but the quality of staff in my local branch are not up to scratch. Thats not a personal thing, I believe it is a training problem and stems from the management down. The staff are ignorant when it's comes to products and need to be more clued up on what is sold in the store and the general running...

Stuck in a 1980s TIMEWARP
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
brianlfc
Advantages: There are lots of other Supermarkets about
Disadvantages: Scruffy, Smelly, 1980's timetrap, horrible and Miserable
...Minty, Scruffy, Smelly, Stuck in a 1980’s time warp, oh well enough about me, I am only joking of course. Anyway, the thing I am talking about here, is that well known NOT SO super-market called the “Kwik Save”, what the hell has happened to this shop, I remember when it was not too bad, but that was a very long time ago.
Why do I dislike the “Kwik Save” so much?
Well, where do I start, firstly, we are now in the year 2001, but has anyone noticed that their local “Kwik Save” looks exactly as it did in the 1980’s, so why is this? in the age of the mega modernised Asda’s, Tesco’s, etc, this store seems to be caught in some sort of time trap, even when a new “Kwik Save” pops up, it seems to have the exact same look. As a matter of fact, your hard pushed to find...

Quick switch to Kwik Fit
Review of Kwik Fit by
philglen
Advantages: Cheap, Free MOT, Service Excellence
Disadvantages: None so far
...was initially swayed by the price which saved me about £50.00 a month in total but on reading the documentation in detail, the cover is excellent too, with Legal cover included too, often missed out on many other insurance policies. A huge benefit of the policy is that you get a free MOT Test every year saving you a further £43.00 each year, with 2 cars that's £86.00!
Finally they operate a great recommend a friend scheme where they offer £20.00 of your monthly direct debit for each recommended person who signs up, which is always a nice perk. Its great to see that this Scottish company is passing on the good old fashioned Scots penny pinching to the customers, Well done Kwik Fit!...

A Kwik trip around Kwik Save
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
duskmaiden
Advantages: cheap prices
Disadvantages: staff, not enough check outs, some stores a bit grotty, no premium range
...Grocery shopping. It is boring but very very vital. I seem to have flitted about and flirted with most of the big and not so big names in supermarket shopping including Aldi, Asda, Iceland, Tesco, Sainsburys, Kwik Save and Safeways. This opinion is going to be on the much maligned Kwik Save.
What is Kwik save?
Kwik Save is a budget supermarket. I think they were or still are part of the Somerfield group. They are common throughout Britain. I have used Kwik Save in Dumfries, Bridge of Allen, Rusholme Manchester and our current one on Birchfields Road Manchester. Being a broke student I tend to divide my shopping trips between Asda and Kwik Save. There is an Iceland next door to our Kwik Save so that is another plus for going to this particular branch of Kwik Save. Today feeling particularly broke and not needing a lot of shopping...

Don't be so hard on Kwiks
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
LiamWebb
Advantages: It's cheap and cheerful!
Disadvantages: The Orange colour can put you off!!
...prides itself on being the cheapest supermarket.
Kwik Save is seen as a store for those who have to live off baked beans, and because of this it doesn't get much recognition, and people tend to slag it off more than anything.
Summary:
It's cheap, cheerful, and much improved through store refurbishments (AT LAST!!)...

Small isles but a quick SAVE
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
begum
Advantages: IMPRESSED BY PRIZES
Disadvantages: WAY TO SMALL TO DO WEEKLY SHOPPING..A SHAME REALLY
...It has been years since I had been into Kwik Save, so I was shocked as I looked for a loaf of bread at the prices. The drinks was amazingly cheap, Pepsi bottles for 64p, half price. That was amazing, there was nothing wrong with it, just that it was amazingly cheap and on offer.
As I went down the isle and looked at the prices I could see items much cheaper compared to Asda on the same original brands, some 20p difference, I was really surprised.
I wouldn’t do my weekly shopping here, simple because it’s too small, and I don’t see it as a supermarket rather a convenience store.
But, if you just need a bagful then Kwik Save it the store, there are some really good savings to be made.
However, I don’t understand why Kwik Save don’t get the stores bigger, it’s impossible to get a trolley round...

Small save
Review of Kwik Save (Shop) by
india1
Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...Kwik Save as a store has vastly improved over the years in my view, I go in about twice a month, and find some really low prices, and their guarantee of refunding you if you find products cheaper anywhere else. This encourages shoppers. They have a good variety with their own brand, which is good, value and top brand names.
I still find that isles could be bigger, because say two people are shopping in one isle, their doesn’t seem to be many more room for other’s to shop there. And if you have a pushchair or a disable person wants to pass through you find yourself cramped.
I always find the staff helpful, I always seem to get stuck as to where products are, so I end up asking, and the always take you to the place, instead of guiding you. I’m a vegetarian and somehow managed to put the wrong product in my basket...
