...We have owned a speaker-phone for many years but never really found the voice quality and reception very good at all. In fact I would say it was practically impossible! At the time we had bought one of the most expensive models we could find thinking it would give the best sound quality through the speakers and microphone, at best the caller's voice was muffled and the microphone would only pick up our voice if we stayed within about a foot of it and spoke more or less into the microphone. Not good at all when wanting to have a telephone conversation at the same time as preparing a meal. After a bit of research on-line and visiting a friend of ours who already owned a Panasonic cordless phone, we decided to get the Panasonic KX-TG8324E. Talk a lot? Think - Panasonic KX-TG 8222

Advantages: Stylish, feel good and great functionality.
Disadvantages: Very susceptible to finger prints!!

...The Panasonic KX-TG 8222 is a brilliant home phone and no mistaking; I do most of my communicating by telephone via my mobile and even then only when I have to. I am not one of those people who pick up a phone and chat endlessly to someone because I have nothing better to do but when I do need to use a phone I like it to feel comfortable to hold and not to crackle in my ear, those were my only real lookouts for a phone but I didn`t realise how bad our old house phones really were until we bought these. The Panasonic KXTG8222EB digital telephone is of course cordless and has a large LCD screen, illuminated keypad, 200 name and number directory and an answering machine function which will allow you to record up to 40 minutes of messages ( a good 20 minutes more than my last phones offered). Funky Panasonic Phone

Advantages: Clarity of sound, lots of useful functions, easy to use, funky lookin
Disadvantages: backlight wont turn off when on charge

After much searching I decided upon the Panasonic KX-TG 8220. It had everything I wanted and more to boot, the only downside was the price. We bought the 3 handset pack for £109.99 from Argos. Model Names Here is a brief explanation of the Panasonic model naming system. The KX-TG8220E refers to the model that consists of the answer phone base unit and one handset. I bought the KX-TG8223EW, the 3 meaning it comes with 3 handsets and the W at the end meaning the colour of the model is white. The model is also available in black and these model numbers will have a B at the end instead of the W. A twin pack will be 8222 and a quad pack will be 8224. They are all the same model but...

Finally a decent cordless phone

...First I had a BT studio phone - rubbish. Then I had a Binatone - even worse. I was seriously considering going back to a corded model when I saw a favourable review of the Panasonic KX-TG 8122 Twin Colour DECT Phone, my sister also had an earlier Panasonic model and spoke very highly of it. Ligo Electronics had the model on offer at a fair price and promised fast delivery so I ordered it from them. 3 working days later the phones arrived as promised and I put them on charge. As soon as I was able to use the phones I connected them and started putting numbers into the memory following the easy to understand instructions, it is also very simple to transfer the phonebook from one handset to the other. I like the feature that allows you to categorise your phonebook, thereby limiting the contacts that can disturb you after a certain time...

better than the new model KXTG7223ES

Advantages: very stable on its charger
Disadvantages: will not work if there is a power failure (unlike conventional corded phones)

...I wanted to by this model because of the favorable reviews I had read. I went to the local Comet shop where the only had the KXTG7124 model (with 4 handset: more than I needed) or else the newer KX-TG223ES with 3 handsets. I could not quite identify any significant technical difference between the newer 7223 and the older 7123, but I immediately noticed that the newer7223 has extremely poor stability: a minimal shake would knock the handset off the basic unit or charger ! On the contrary the older KX-TG7123 could be shaken vigorously without falling off. I went back home an order the older but more stable 7123 from an online retailer, where it is still available. Having used this phone for just a few days, I can say so far there are many PROs and 1 CON. PROs: works well, I like being able to enter phone numbers on one handset...
