...After my negative last printer review, I?ve decided to review another of our collection. The Kyocera FS 680 is my personal favourite. Which is a strange thing to admit under the circumstances!! About a year ago while in the process of finding new printers my boss suggested this one, to which I recalled what the hell is the point in buying it?We need A3 minimum and definitely something capable of printing colour. My boss inevitably ignored my comments and headed straight out to purchase this. Incredibly this printer has since become a god send. Although only able to print A4 and black and white, this printer consistently chugs away day after day without a glitch. Kyocera FS 5030N, brilliant color laser

Advantages: Very reliable, low cost per page
Disadvantages: None

...drive, compact flash memory, high capacity output tray. Kyocera has one more ace in its sleeve - drivers. Imagine that they developed one super-driver for all printers/copiers they produce. That way once you installed any Kyocera printer, you can add more and don't care about driver; it's already there. And now from my experience with FS 5030N. We use 5030DN models (network interface plus duplex unit). No problems what so ever. Never failed. Installation is dead easy, just like with the rest of Kyocera products. Paper jams are very rare and in most cases are human related (average user can't understand, that you are suppose to put paper into tray neatly, and not just throw it in). Great, economic color printer forworkgroup use....

Kyocera Finecam S4

Advantages: Small, compact and robust. Good battery life when new.
Disadvantages: Slow to write images to disk, short battery life after prolonged use

...We bought the Kyocera S4 about 3 years ago after doing a lot of research into camera. Not being keen photographers, we wanted a camera that was easy to use but that took good quality photos. At first we were very pleased with the S4. The picture quality is great and at 4 mp the files are reasonable sized. The 16mb card that came with the camera had to be replaced as at "fine" quality we could fit about 10 photo's on there. We bought a 256mb and can fit about 80 photo's on. The battery is a rechargeable one and this is one of the reasons to buy the camera. We had previously bought a Pentax camera and were very disappointed at how quickly we were going through AA batteries. The S4 had a quick recharge time and long life, enabling you to fill the memory card before needing a recharge, however 3 years on and the battery last...

Kyocera Finecam S5 1 year on

Advantages: Picture Quality, Ease of Use, Small Size
Disadvantages: Auto Focus in Dim light, Slow to write to memory

...Bought the camera just over a year ago when my wife gave birth to twins. I was a keen photographer, but always on film before as I felt digital still had some way to go. The Kyocera has a 5MP resolution and gives truly staggering picutres for a camera of this size. I would say that the results are comparable to 35mm film at sizes up to 10x8 inches and far superior to my APS canon IXUS, which I no longer use, in fact I no longer use film!! Crisp Pictures with excellent colour rendition, low noise and good quality. The camera has a range of compression and resolution options, but with memory prices coming down, I take everything at the best possible quality. I have had no problems with the battery life or general reliability/operation of the camera. Build quality is extremely good, but you would expect that from the same company...

THE PERFECT COPIER.

Advantages: PERFECT COPIES EVERY TIME.
Disadvantages: NONE AS YET.

...who use discs will know that occasionally batches of other makes do have defective discs in the pack which create not only disappointment but also waste of time. Out of all the makes available on the market, Verbatim came out top in tests using different copiers and I would tend to agree with that claim which is found on their website. I have used these with three different CD writers and each time, the results were consistent. Why Verbatim ? Because they are what the name implies, i.e. Capable of copying a perfect copy. Labelling your discs. I perform this function with software that makes adhesive labels to give my discs a professional finish, though watch this space - Verbatim are now working on a disc where you can create an image on the surface of a CD rom, which looks very much like where the future is going...

Advantages: affordable & reliable

...Adaptec CD Copier, Easy Cd Creator & Direct CD, are amongst the best CD Rom copy utilites around. Backing up data to CD rather than Zips, floppies or other media is far simpler and more efficient than other methods. Keeping your important files on CD takes up less space and is ideal to keep all those downloaded programs on too. The program allows to to make your own compilation music CD's too. I am also in the process of transfering all my vinyl collection of singles and albums onto CD. The suite of programs is easy to install and very simple to run and allows you to copy 'on the fly' (disk to disk) or copy to hard disk first. You can even test copy first to ensure that there will be no problems when backing up those original disks. Still with CD's as cheap as 29p each the odd disastor is not costly these days. A great...
