...I had always usually relied on the sun for a tan but had always worried about the effect of it on my skin. I had always disregarded fake tan because i though it didn't work and was expensive but then i saw L'Oreal sublime bronze on the shelves and at a price of 9.99 it was incredably cheap! i applied it as soon as i got home. The directions were simple and easy to use resulting in the gel going on smoothly and more or less evenly. The fake tan hardly rubbed off on my sheets, clothes or in the shower. The appearance was slighlty streaky so i recommend that if you're going to use this product that you purchase additional tan corrector wipes for just 50p each from boots. The product claims to be fragrance free but the smell was quite distinctive and lingered on my hands for about a week. I also suggest that you lay a towel on the floor...

Sublime Suntan

Advantages: subtle, even, healthy glow
Disadvantages: don't think the bottle will last very long

...The only fake tan I had ever used was Johnson's Holiday Skin lotion, and whilst I liked the results it gives, you have to apply it pretty much every day to get noticeable results and maintain your tan. As I am too lazy to apply tanning lotion every day, when this bottle ran out I decided to try something a little stronger that would have a little more staying power. I had no idea where to start, not wanting to pay loads, but not wanting to cheap out and end up looking like a tangerine! Eventually I decided on L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning gel, as I thought of L'Oreal as being quite a trustworthy brand. Tan-Fastic

...well knows sun care companies and cosmetics giants. Creating a nation of bronzed gods and godesses is big business it seems. One product that caught my eye was a self-tan in gel form. This looked like it might be easier to apply than traditional lotions and it had a third off the price so I was convinced! The product in question was L'oreal Plenitude Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel. This is a new addition to the L'oreal tanning range and claims to have the added benefit of smoothing the skin leaving it 'velvety soft' (which would be very weird when you consider the feel of velvet - if you skin suddenly starts feeling like that, I suggest you consult a doctor!) Normally this product retails at £9.99 for 150ml, which may seem quite steep, but you only use a really small amount for each application so it does last. At the moment...

...First thing is that this fake tan has an instant colour so if your running late this is perfect for a quick fix! but this isnt just a quick fiz, it is a long lasting lovely colour. doesnt make you go orange and people even thought i had been on holiday!! only problem is that it makes you skin go dry so would reccomend eiether putting moisturiser underneath or moisturising every day. it has a shimmer in it which gives you a nice, healthy glow. the bottle also lasts a long time so its great! altogether i would definately reccomend this product just be caeful how you apply and make sure that u moisturisee! because otherwise it will go patchy! oh and exfoliate before use, definately needed with this product!!...

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel: very even tan!

Advantages: Very very even, gives a lovely colour and easy application!
Disadvantages: Takes some time for it to be absorbed.

...I have been using this tan for several years now and I recommend it to anyone! Application: Firstly I start by putting body butter on my feet and ankles, knees and elbows so they don't go bright orange. I don't like using rubber gloves with this tanning gel as I find it makes it more difficult for it to be thoroughly absorbed into the skin. What I do is I start at the bottom and work my way up, regularly washing my hands. I do one leg, wash my hands. Do the other leg, wash my hands. Then the body, and then the arms. After washing the hands at the end so I don't look like I have white gloves on I put a little of the product on some tissue and smooth it over the tops of my hands. Results: A natural even colour which is easy to intensify with just one more application. It does have the fake tan smell afterwards but its not as strong as...

Superb Sublime!

Advantages: No Streaks
Disadvantages: Bottle is slippery whilst applying - not very gripable

...brown freckles on your legs with nothing in between. It's entirely up to you whether you moisturise before you tan, it all depends on how dry your skin is. I find that the best way to do it, if you have dry skin, is to dilute the tanner with the moisturiser before application. eg. As you are about to apply the tanner, squeeze the tanning gel onto the palm of your hand, about 10p coin, and the same amount of moisturiser, then rub your hands together until it is blended in together then apply straight away. You don't have to measure the moisturiser and tanner half and half, it all depends on the type of skin you have, you will have to play with the amounts until you get it right. If this is your first time that you are self tanning or its the first time that you have used sublime then I would half the measurement with moisturiser...

Shimmerific tan

Advantages: Nice shimmer, easy to apply, no nasty smell
Disadvantages: Tricky over heels and feet, bottle doesn't seem to last very long

...didn't expect it to be so good on both body and face. Its shimmer gave a nicely sun kissed look immediately after application. The final result was a little oranger than I would have expected from the guide colour (which was more bronze). However, it didn't look fake and was a nice healthy tone. Its hard to judge how this would work on other skin tones, I'm very pale and have cool skin tones so self tan is always a bit risky, but this came out very nicely. It's really excellent to use on top of a real tan to extend it. This is what I did once I got back from my holiday to cover up my tan lines and make everyone just a little more jealous! It worked wonderfully! I would definitely recommend this product. In fact, my mum was so impressed that she offered to buy it off me....no chance, I'm keeping this one!...

good, not exeptional, but good fake tan.

...Produces good and quite dramatic results. It's good for first time tanners as it is slightly tinted and this allows people to see where there have applied tan and where they haven't, this helps to ensure even coverage. the smell when you first put it on isnt too bad, although when the tan starts to take effect the "fake tan" smell becomes quite strong. i recomend this product for face tanning but i have found that it doens't work as well on your body as it dries really really quickly so it hard to rub in to large areas like you back or tummy without producing streaks. It does feel quite sticky and does stain clothes so you cant put anything on your skin for a while. I feel it works best when you do it at night, but the next morning you do have to have a shower as you can still feel a layer on the skin that hasn't absorbed but when you do...

L'Oreal Self -tanning mist - no need to rub in!

...Now that the sunshine has finally appeared it's time to bare the legs. I bought L'Oreal's self tanning dry mist spray from the local supermarket for £5.99 when we had a spell of warm weather, but I noticed that it has now gone upto £7.36! so it might be worth shopping around. For this you get 150ml in a gold coloured cylindrical can. It appealed to me because it is a self tanning dry mist, so there is no need to rub in. I always have problems getting an even coverage so I decided to follow the instructions very carefully. Apparently the dry mist sprays micro-particles which are much smaller than the traditional self tanned sprays so the formula should not feel wet on the skin. The instructions are wriiten in very small writing so if you struggle to see them you might need a magnifying glass!! However, you are told to shake...

A true all-over tan

Advantages: Natural colour, effective on scars, nice smell
Disadvantages: Packaging not great, even fair skins require 2 coats

...I did an op on another fake tan brand and said that I would follow up with one on a brand that actually tans scars as well...here it is. L'oreal sublime bronze gel is a light non-oily gel with quite a nice fresh scent (makes a change). It is suitable for face and body and gives a light glow after one application. I have very pale skin and if I use 2 applications 24 hrs apart I get a lovely bronzed colour. To be honest the first application does very little other than give a nice healthy glow so if thats all you're after great, but if you want to apear tanned give it 2 goes. As I have said before I have quite a few scars and not all fake tans cover my scars. This one does but again it does take 2 applications.
