...I had always usually relied on the sun for a tan but had always worried about the effect of it on my skin. I had always disregarded fake tan because i though it didn't work and was expensive but then i saw L'Oreal sublime bronze on the shelves and at a price of 9.99 it was incredably cheap! i applied it as soon as i got home. The directions were simple and easy to use resulting in the gel going on smoothly and more or less evenly. The fake tan hardly rubbed off on my sheets, clothes or in the shower. The appearance was slighlty streaky so i recommend that if you're going to use this product that you purchase additional tan corrector wipes for just 50p each from boots. The product claims to be fragrance free but the smell was quite distinctive and lingered on my hands for about a week. I also suggest that you lay a towel on the floor...

Sublime Suntan

Advantages: subtle, even, healthy glow
Disadvantages: don't think the bottle will last very long

...The only fake tan I had ever used was Johnson's Holiday Skin lotion, and whilst I liked the results it gives, you have to apply it pretty much every day to get noticeable results and maintain your tan. As I am too lazy to apply tanning lotion every day, when this bottle ran out I decided to try something a little stronger that would have a little more staying power. I had no idea where to start, not wanting to pay loads, but not wanting to cheap out and end up looking like a tangerine! Eventually I decided on L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning gel, as I thought of L'Oreal as being quite a trustworthy brand. Also, the Sublime Bronze range had 1/3 off at Boots, so I paid £7.32 for a 150ml bottle instead of £10.99. Superb Sublime!

Advantages: No Streaks
Disadvantages: Bottle is slippery whilst applying - not very gripable

...brown freckles on your legs with nothing in between. It's entirely up to you whether you moisturise before you tan, it all depends on how dry your skin is. I find that the best way to do it, if you have dry skin, is to dilute the tanner with the moisturiser before application. eg. As you are about to apply the tanner, squeeze the tanning gel onto the palm of your hand, about 10p coin, and the same amount of moisturiser, then rub your hands together until it is blended in together then apply straight away. You don't have to measure the moisturiser and tanner half and half, it all depends on the type of skin you have, you will have to play with the amounts until you get it right. If this is your first time that you are self tanning or its the first time that you have used sublime then I would half the measurement with moisturiser...

L'oreal Sublime Bronze Fake Tan Fresh feel gel

Advantages: Does not streak at all, non greasy, dries quickly, does not transfer, quick results.
Disadvantages: Requires several applications for noticeable colour change (maybe not for everyone)

...L'oreal say: Fresh, non-sticky gel, natural-looking tan, even result, containing vitamin E, quick dry, smoothing effect, easy to apply, velvety touch. I can vouch for all of these. On the shelf, some may be put off by the rather glowing tangerine colour of the lid of the bottle. This does not inspire much confidence! However, appearances are deceiving and do not be put off by this as it is not the colour you'll achieve! I have natural blond hair and slightly olive skin that does tan in the summer. However, despite my legs and arms tanning easily, other areas are much harder to change colour and i do not want to damage my skin with over exposure to the sun. L'Oreal Self -tanning mist - no need to rub in!

I bought L'Oreal's self tanning dry mist spray from the local supermarket for £5.99 when we had a spell of warm weather, but I noticed that it has now gone upto £7.36! so it might be worth shopping around. For this you get 150ml in a gold coloured cylindrical can. It appealed to me because it is a self tanning dry mist, so there is no need to rub in. I always have problems getting an even coverage so I decided to follow the instructions very carefully. Apparently the dry mist sprays micro-particles which are much smaller than the traditional self tanned sprays so the formula should not feel wet on the skin. ...well knows sun care companies and cosmetics giants. Creating a nation of bronzed gods and godesses is big business it seems. One product that caught my eye was a self-tan in gel form. This looked like it might be easier to apply than traditional lotions and it had a third off the price so I was convinced! The product in question was L'oreal Plenitude Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel. This is a new addition to the L'oreal tanning range and claims to have the added benefit of smoothing the skin leaving it 'velvety soft' (which would be very weird when you consider the feel of velvet - if you skin suddenly starts feeling like that, I suggest you consult a doctor!) Streak-free Bronzing

Advantages: Nice colour & dries very fast

.... I also use the gel on my face about twice a week. I use a small amount over my normal moisturizer, avoiding my hair line and eyebrows. I have recently discovered that L'Oreal have brought out an alternative Sublime Bronze gel for specifically designed for use on the face, I will definitely be giving this a try. The gel feels refreshing and light on the skin, which makes a nice change from more heavy, sticky creams I have used in the past. It sinks into the skin quickly and dries almost instantly Like with any fake tan you must wash your hands after using it! I find a quick wash over and scrubbing my nails briefly with a nail brush gets the tan off completely and leaves my hands looking normal the next day. I find that because the gel does sink in quite quickly it's a good idea to wash hands immediately after use, not giving it...

A sublime tan!

Advantages: streak free, value for money, nice smell, natural look

...I have been an avid fake-tan fan for about 10 years now and have used pretty much every product on the shelves so I feel fairly well-equipped with fake-tan know-how. I was until fairly recently a St Tropez devotee. The St Tropez mousse in particular provides a natural, streak-free tan with easy application. However it is expensive and have always been on the look-out for a cheaper alternative that offered as good a result. Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel exceeded my expectations when I tried it for the first time a month ago and since then St Tropez has been off my shopping list for good. Sublime Bronze Gel is suitable for both the Face and Body which makes it great value for money as often you have to buy 2 separate products. I purchased it for £11.50 on offer - I think it is normally £15.00 but this is still a bargain...
