This four-star city retreat is opulently designed with an interior of Italian marble and traditional Florentine style furniture. Via Tornabuoni and its environs are densely populated with tratorias, delicatessens and bars, but should you wish to dine in, the American Bar in the lobby serves light lunches and dinners as well as a selection of fine wines and spirits. American and continental breakfasts are served every morning at the Hotel de la Ville.

We stayed in the centrally placed Hyatt Regency hotel and arrived there late in the evening after our five hour flight from Vancouver, just in time to meet up with our host, Monsieur Montreal. I have many fond memories of growing up in Montreal, but the most memorable are those hot, lazy summer days spent in La Ronde with my best friends. At the time, in the early 70's, there wasn't much happening in Montreal, and activities for children enjoying a summer off...
