Advantages: A Beautiful Place In A Lovely Setting

...Roche Abbey lies approximately 13 miles to the East of Sheffield and 9 miles to the West of Doncaster in Maltby Beck, in South Yorkshire. Although the Abbey is now in ruins it is a place that is well worth a visit if you are ever in the area, and though it was one of lesser known Cistercian Abbeys of its era it is nonetheless a very typical example of a 12th century Abbey. THE HISTORY Roche Abbey was built in 1147, it was a joint foundation by Richard de Busli, Lord of Maltby, and Richard Fitzturgis, Lord of Hooten, and was in this respect rather unusual. Otherwise, the Abbey's development was in many ways similar to that of many other Cistercian Abbeys in England, enjoying a steady period of growth during the twelfth and early part of the thirteenth centuries followed by a gradual decline and its eventual dissolution in 1538...

Disadvantages: no good if you like a shocking detailed story

...unloved- peter roche a true story of a stolen childhood the story begins and ends with a photograph taken when i was two years old. finding it was like discovering that i really did exist after all. it was as if someone was saying, 'no, it wasn't all in your imagination, that childhood really did happen, and it happened to you.' opinion- i really do love a good true story and have found that since reading a child called it by dave pelzer they seem to have become very popular and anyone can write one nowadays, now i am not saying that these people did not suffer but some of these books tend to be based more arond the shock factor of telling the tale of the awful abuse they suffered rather than telling the tale of how they came out at the other end. this book is very well writen and doesn't bore you too much with the details...

...On our recent trip to the Loire Valley Mr Tart and myself arrived in Tours quite late on our first night. We drove down to Tours from Paris. We were going to stop for something to eat on the way but in the end decided to make our way straight to Tours and get settled in the hotel and then find something close by. A couple of minutes from our hotel we came across this place and were really glad that we did. LOCATION: La Chope is located at 25 Avenue Grammont. Our hotel was on the same road so we just came across it. It is about a ten minute walk from Tours? old town. The restaurant doesn?t stand out and the sign is not particularly bright so make sure you look out for it. La haine attire la haine: hatred attracts hatred

Disadvantages: You'll need the subtitles, even if your French is decent

...La Haine is a powerful film in French cinematic history. Giving a stark outlook on racial inequality, police brutality and the way youths are influenced by their suuroundings. Set in the banlieues (town suburbs) of Paris, it follows three friends for a day, in the aftermath of riots that has left one of their number dead. Thirsty for revenge, we meet Vinz (Vincent Cassel), an extremely violent character who gets hold of a police gun and is all mouth. Cassel plays him effortlessly, and is scarily convincing. I have seen the actor in a number of English speaking roles, but this is a brilliant performance. Said Taghmaoui plays Said, a violent teen always looking to get his money back from various sources. ...La Rochelle is a town on the West Coast of France. It is a large harbour town, and at one point in its history it was the largest harbour in France. We visited La Rochelle twice during our stay in France, one day was spent in the Aquarium which I have reviewed separately, and one day was spent around the market and the harbour. Driving into the town is relatively simple, the car parks are well signposted, and we decided to park right on the harbour front. The charges for the car park were very reasonable, at least compared to car parks where I live; it was just a couple of Euros for a full day. From the harbour car park we walked approximately 10 minutes into the shopping precinct. There was a small outdoor market in the centre, mainly selling fruit and vegetables. There was also an indoor market which also has fruits...

Maybe they'd missed me just a little bit because they decided we should go out for dinner - a nice dinner - this time. I'd spent the previous evening burning the roof of my mouth on a rather unpleasant cheese pizza in the hotel bar, so I was definitely in the mood to go out. The film was released in 1995, and was a huge success in France, so much so that the (then) Prime Minster, Alain Juppé requested a private screening, he then instructed, actually it was more of an order than an instruction, his entire cabinet to watch it. The director went on to win Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival Awards in 1996, but apparently the police guards present turned their backs on those involved with the film, as a protest to the way that they had portrayed police brutality in France. ...If i need to buy lingerie there is only one place that I go to and that is La Senza. La Senza is great and stocks everything from underwear, bras, slippers, nightwear and dressing gowns. They have great bra's im many different styles and colours that have matching underwear you will always find what your are looking for. They have the multiways bra's and the bra solutions too, which is great especially if you are planning on wearing say a backless dress for example. I have learnt over the years that you can get great offers in La Senza on there buy one get one free, or the buy so many items for a set price. Which is fantastic as you otherwse find that a few sets cost you over £50. I would also recommend that you try the bra's on as i find that i am a different size bra in each different style.
