... Why did I buy this watch? For 5 1/2 years I worked at Goldsmiths in Cardiff and always sold nice watches to everyone else apart from myself! So for my 18th birthday I decided to invest in a timepiece that would last me a lifetime and not date, like other fashion watches. Why a Raymond Weil? You may ask. The previous year I went on a Raymond Weil training seminar and learnt allot about Raymond Weil's distribution in England and learnt more about the customer satisfaction they try to provide. i.e the turn around of a new battery (which is 10 days)- very quick compare to others, the organization of the company to aid good customer service, wether it be over the telephone when a customer wants to find out a question or to a supplier to order a new strap. Diesel - one to watch!

Watching Me, Watching You

Advantages: Elegant yet robust looking, a good size for my tiny wrists, keeps good time

......so I bullied...sorry, that should read 'cajoled' my husband into buying me one, and he chose the Wittnauer Laureate 12M02 ladies' watch. You've never heard of Wittnauer? I'm not surprised, though the company has been around since 1872. The reason you may never have heard of it is that although the watch is indeed manufactured in Switzerland, so can legitimately claim to be a Swiss watch, the company was formed to service the supposedly more demanding (and cheaper - the watches were and still are cheaper than the more well known Swiss brands) American market. A watch for the 21st century

Advantages: Technical features, no batteries, accurate, good looking, Japanese
Disadvantages: None at present

...I once took my battery operated watch to a well known high street jeweller to have the battery replaced, I was told it would only take 5 minutes & cost £4.99, it actually took 30 minutes & cost me £9.99 as they had problems with the battery. When I took it home the small stop watch function wouldn't work & the built in alarm didn't work either. I took it back & explained it was OK before they touched it, but they refused to accept liability so I was left with a watch that never worked properly again. On another occasion another jeweller presented with a different watch stated that the movement was faulty & would cost approx £75.00 to replace, I left the shop & purchased a battery for 99p from Maplin, fitted it myself (this one had a small slot on the back to access the battery) & has worked perfectly since. Charming little watch

Advantages: charges constantly when its in the light
Disadvantages: i work at night and usually dont see the light

...My 'friend' decided i needed a special present this year for christmas and bought me the Citizen Ecodrive Charm bracelet watch. It's one which has been advertised quite alot in womens magazines, and it is very pretty and a bit different. The bracelet is a basic silver coloured bracelet, attatched are five small handbag charms, one is plain silver colour, the other four have stones in different design 'handbags', the colours are pink, blue, yellow and clear. The watch itself is a slightly larger handbag shapewith clear 'diamonds' around the face and a blue pearly looking face. Its pretty and sparkles nicely which keeps him as amused as it does me, but then again hes amused by some very simple things - british money for one. The second of these watches that I own is also the silver coloured version but this time has shell shaped charms...

The environment friendly watch

...My last watch has been with me for more than 10 years. It has been reliable until the past couple of years. It started mis-behaving, require constant battery changes, (a sure sign that the watch is dying), and frequently stopping whenever I fly. So last Christmas, I decided to buy myself an eco-driven citizen watch. An eco-drive watch uses light energy to run itself. The light source can be sun (solar) or an incandescent lamp (such as in an office environment). The watch uses a solar panel, in this case, its the face dial, to convert light into electrical energy which is stored in a special energy cell. This allows the watch to last a long time without seeing any light, suitable for those of us who hibernate (Ha!); for those of us with very long winters and constantly wearing long sleeve clothes or just forgetting to charge it up...

...Three Men and a Little Lady Last time we saw Mary she was a cute little baby and her mother had just decided to stay in New York with Mary's three daddies, Peter, Michael and Jack, instead of moving back to England. Peter, Michael and Jack, Jack being MAry's real father, had grown very attached to Mary, despite their previous bachelor lifestyles and couldn't imagine thier lives without her. Fast forward 5 years and the guys and Mary's mother Sylvia have got their routine down perfectly. They all take her out for a walk, they have a special rap they sing her as a bed time song and life is good. However, we all know that when things are going well and life is settled and content, generally something happens to stir things up. The thing is Edward, Sylvia's fiancee and he wants to marry Sylvia and take her and Mary back to England...

The Lady Vanishes - Or Does She?

Advantages: An enjoyable Hitchcock thriller with a fair bit of comedy
Disadvantages: Some might find it dated

...has seemingly disappeared and none of her fellow passengers admit to ever having seen her. Iris is determined to find out where Miss Froy has gone and manages to enlist the help of Gilbert even though he seems to doubt her sanity Where did Miss Froy disappear to? Was she ever real or just a figment of Iris? imagination? Why on earth would anyone want to harm a little old lady who seems so pleasant and harmless? The film starts off in quite a humorous manner with most of the British guests in the hotel coming across as being rather pompous and expecting special treatment. The characters Charters and Caldicott (played by Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne respectively) seem most annoying as all they seem concerned about is getting to Manchester so they can watch the cricket. They even try to call home to get the current cricket scores...
