Fantastic hotel in Lake Garda, reasonable price and great staff

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities
Disadvantages: A little too far from town if walking, pool covered

.... The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean. The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go. Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel. However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without. On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that. In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano...

My Lovely Lagos

Advantages: A Great Atmospheric Town Bubbling with Life and Colour
Disadvantages: None

...I don't know why it has taken me so long to get round to writing about Lagos. I guess when you live in a beautiful place you tend to take your surroundings for granted. It's six years now since I left Portugal but there isn't a day when I don't miss the colour and ambience. On days like today when Warsaw is a sea of grey I really miss the colours blue, white and yellow - sky, white-washed houses and sand. The first stop for visitors arriving in the Algarve will be Faro airport. Faro is a fine town ans has a lot to offer for a day trip but the first thing most visitors will want to do is to get in a cab or a hired car and drive to their hotel or apartment in the sun. There will be time to view Faro and its alleyways and harbour- front another day. My first memories of living in Lagos are when I lived on a boat in the fishermen...

Bardolino, Lago di Garda

Advantages: Good Wine, Good Food and beautiful scenery
Disadvantages: Holidays are too short

...Bardolino is a small town on the edge of Lake Garda, famous for its Bardolino Wine and Soave. The climate is mild and in the summer gets hot - the perfect place to eat the best icecream in northern Italy. Bardolino is a lively yet small and relatively traffic-free resort. There are plenty of street cafes and restaurants catering for the tourist and locals alike. There are lots of small good quality boutiques and gift shops and plenty of excellent hotels. We will shortly be visiting Bardolino for the 4th time. It doesnt have the gaudy nightclubs and bars of many European resorts - Its more a place to sit and people-watch, eat good food and drink good wine. We're in our late 20's but I'd recommend Bardolino for anyone up to age 150. The Lake itself is huge, - there are plenty of boat trips to explore the other Garda towns and villages...

Lagos in the Algarve!

Advantages: sunny!! friendly, relaxed, picturesque
Disadvantages: can be a bit too hot, not much shade, constantly people trying to sell daytrips

PERSONAL TIP: dont go to the chinese restaurant in the centre of lagos! terrible service, cramped room with tables right beside each other and they laughed at us when we spoke!!!!! -----MY EXPERIENCE----- I went to Lagos for a week with my boyfriend last summer. It was a brilliant experience! You pronounce Lagos as Lagosh. The currency is in Euros. About an hours drive in the bus from Faro airport. Pleasant jouney in the Thomson bus provided. Brief tour involved in this journey as the holiday rep gives details on the area and interesting facts, I still remember that talk to this day. Hotel Europa Limone, Lake Garda

We stayed in Limone in August 2006, We Didn't know what to expect as i book it on Last mintue.com , which cost £299 half board for 1 week and our hotel was allocated on arrival. Advantages: Stunning scenery, glorious climate......... an almost perfect holiday
Disadvantages: Rather touristy in places

Lake Garda is a popular centre for watersports and there are plenty of opportunities for sailing, windsurfing etc. Mountain bikes are also available for hire. There are local tennis courts where racquets (rather ancient ones, in our case) are available to hire. There are some pleasant walks among the steep, verdant terraces of the surrounding area, although it's a bit too hot for too much exertion. A shortish climb from our hotel took us up to the casa natale (birthplace) of local missionary and saint Daniele Comboni, where there is also an interesting museum dedicated to him and his work. Lagos, Ideal Holiday for the Lazy.

Advantages: tree lined streets bars and cafe
Disadvantages: does get steep in places.

...restaurants specialising in seafood, so fresh you get to pick you meal while its still alive, there is a small Nightclub with Bouncers, but little in the way of trouble. Cobbled streets lined with mainly Lemon and Orange tree's a beautiful sight and a full array of shops. The locals are very friendly and will go out of their way to assist you, and the café owners will always do their best to prepare meals your kids may like, but having said this, I would say Lagos is aimed at the slightly older generation, with grown up kids, as there's not a lot around for the younger ones. If needed there is a Hospital on the edge of town, Police station, Doctors and several Chemists. There is a few large hotels in Lagos, but I would consider staying on the many closer resorts and hiring a car, as there is so much more to see and do on the Algarve...

Lagos: the real capital of Nigeria!!!

Advantages: Bubbling city, pleasant places of interest
Disadvantages: Traffic Jams, over populated, police!!!

...a trusted friend that can take you round. I also would not suggest just getting any hotel to stay in cos some are not reccommended atall. There are a few that are professional and safe but they are very expensive and to me not worth much of what they ask for but at least you won't have to worry about your personal safety. Some are the Sheraton which is not too far from the airport, others are in Victoria Island and Ikoyi, which are nicer areas (close to the beaches) and more posh. I could reccommend Sofitel (Ikoyi), The Moorhouse (Ikoyi), Le Meridian (Victoria Island). There are others but can't remember. Now that I've succceeded in discouraging you (laughs) let me change gear. Garda Town - Great place

Advantages: Garda Town - great location for expliring other areas
Disadvantages: Bus between towns - never on time.

...a little more expensive than you would pay in the UK. There is a local bus provided free of charge which circulites around the town every half hour - just get on and off whereever you like NO COST. This is an excellent idea as some of the hotels and appartnments are a good distance from the main town. We stayed in the Court Dell Rose Apartments approx 2KM from the main town and the bus was needed to get up and down as it was too warm to walk. The walk was enjoyable at night after a good feed. Close by - about 30 minutes on the bus was Gardaland which is Italys largest theme park. For 2 adults and 3 children it cost 108 euro which was good value. There is a free bus to Gardaland which leaves the bus stop in Garda at 8.30 SHARP (on of the few buses which does leave on time. Garda is a very enjojable town for a holiday and as long as...
