...as we missed lunch so decided to have something to eat in the bar area. We were the first people in but over the course of the evening a few other groups did come in and have a drink before heading to the restaurant for their meals. Apparently it was "Lancashire Night" which meant the staff all wore flat caps. We liked the bar area, the décor was contemporary and we got comfortable on the big brown leather sofas. The menu on offer in the bar was the same as in the restaurant, I decided to have a fish pie and my husband a chicken and mushroom pie. Service and the food was very good, although I thought £11 for a pie was a bit on the steep side. After dinner we retired to our room, it was a bit chilly as the radiator was not working, we called reception and they quickly brought us up a heater and the next day maintenance fixed the one...

...Lancashire Double Glazing,...............They were very helpful,right from the start,excelent phone maner,the sales rep came round and give us a quto on the spot with no hasle just a good repour, he was happy to leave us to think about the price,and that he would leave it for us to contact him,,,,,with a go ahead........we liked this becacuse it did,nt put us under any pressure on the spot. the fitters were very nice also,with lots of clean dust sheets placed in the hall way and in each room that they worked in,,,,,the job was so tidy that when they had finished the house looked new with the frames been cleaned and also the glass had been clean,as well... i would recomend Lancashire Double Glazing with no worries at all.....

Lancashire Double Glazing Cowboys

...Lancashire Double Glazing - what a bunch of cowboys!! This is a long story so I'll try to cut it short. To start off with the fitters were 2 hours late and when they arrived thay had lost a window ledge so dissapeared for another 2 hours to try to find it! When the job had been done, upon closer inspection of the windows, there were gaps and chips all over. We contacted the fitters to complain and they said they'd send someone round, which they did after about 4 weeks. He replaced some of the damaged beeding - but it still wasn't right - the window ledge was chipped and there were still gaps. The ever so nice salesman that originally visited us - refused to help although he had promised to get involved if things weren't acceptable. The whole farce went on for about 12 weeks - in the end we moved house - the windown still haven...

Luxury in Lancashire

...The Pines is a Victorian-style hotel, which was built in 1895 and stands within beautiful landscaped gardens and mature woodlands. I was surprised to see a sign saying they had won Britain in Bloom award for 4 years. We discovered the hotel when looking for somewhere to stay on a journey south around the Lancashire area, I believe they had won a Lancashire award in the late 1990?s. It is close to Junction 29 off the M6, and only takes a few minutes to reach. We parked in the large car park and went into the small reception area, where we were dealt with quickly and efficiently but very pleasantly, plus an offer of help with cases but as we were on the ground floor we declined. The bedroom was a standard one and was a reasonable size with a king sized bed with white duvet and some pretty embroidery trimming in pink and cream...

Disadvantages: Misleading title.

...What this book is not is a guidebook to being a mother, good or bad. Although it does tell us how several generations of mothers in the story reacted to events in their family's lives. There often aren't simple right or wrong ways of dealing with a problem. It gives the reader facts on which to make up their own minds. To me it was more like a modern history of a fictional family from Lancashire. The author named their pit village Bank Top, which is situated near Wigan, Greater Manchester. This book can be read as a simple story of the year 1997 in the lives of three women, but I found much more than that in it. Although the way the book is written makes it easy to read, before anyone dismisses this as "chick lit", at least read the following quote from the book. ...Riverside Caravan Park is a mixture of touring and static caravans - both private and to hire - that is situated on the Lune Estuary between Morecambe and Lancaster in Lancashire. I have used this site - both with a tourer and hiring a static - for over fifteen years. The owners - Linda and Allan Proctor, work hard to keep the site clean and attractive.There are still peopl with their touring caravans on the site that used it when we started using it fifteen years ago - which must be a good endorsement for the site.
