Lancaster

Advantages: Good place to visit
Disadvantages: not a large amount of shops

...As a Lancastrian I probably am a bit biast but I haven't lived there for six years now. It is well worth a visit as there are a number of things to see whilst you are there. It is a great historic city dating back to Roman Britain and part of a Roman bath house was excavated behind the Priory Church on Castle hill some years ago. However as you get close to Lancaster the thing which dominates the sky line is the Ashton Memorial. The Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife. Lord Ashton became a millionaire producing oil cloth and linoleum which was exported from the port all over the world. ...LANCASTER MARITIME MUSEUM Judging by the amounts of reviews I am writing about my local area I think I must be trying to boost the population and get you all to come and live here, but I really do have to write a review about his incredible little museum that really is well worth a visit. For those of you that don't know Lancaster, it is a lovely little city. It is situated on the River Lune and was the ancient settlement that gives Lancashire its name and it was was granted city status in 1937 for its "long association with the crown" and because it was "the county town of the King's Duchy of Lancaster". Advantages: A City I Love

Lancaster University!

Advantages: Campus Community and excellent Management School, rated third best in the country!
Disadvantages: Can get a bit claustrophobic, the car parking facilities on campus are rubbish!!

...Myself Im currently a third year at Lancaster Uni and studying Business Studies, so as you will guess I know quite a bit about the place! The main reason that I chose to go to Lancaster was the reputation of the management school. I was informed that it is thrid best in the country (with London School of Economics and UMIST holding 1st & 2nd place). When doing a degree these days I find it important that you got to a Uni that is somewhere that you not only like the feel of but also is one of the best places to do your course as these days there are lots and lots of people doing degrees and you want to get the best for yourself (i.e stand a good chance of getting a job!) The prices were 99 pence a bottle. "Can't be any good" I thought. Until I noticed that the beers on sale were exactly the same brews that were on sale in a local large supermarket at £1.69 a bottle. I came accross something I had never heard of before. Bottles of Thwaites Lancaster Bomber. At only 99 pence a bottle, I knew I had notihng to lose, so I bought several bottles of Lancaster Bomber and some bottles of beers that I was already familiar with. The Red Red Rose of Lancaster

Advantages: Academically good uni, close to Manchester and the sea
Disadvantages: The sea is in Morecambe, and the nightlife isn't great

...I recently had a message in my guestbook, asking about Lancaster Uni, so I figured I may as well write my next op on it! Lancaster Uni has a lot of pro's, and a lot of con's. I'll go through the pro's first, then go onto the bad side. And you can all make up your own minds! **PRO'S** Academicaly, this is a great uni. I features in most Uni Top 20 lists, and in a recent list in the Telegraph, it was ranked 12 in teaching quality. The Management School is reported to be the best in the country, but as I am a Women's Studies and Philosophy student, I couldn't really comment! The Theatre Studies department is fantasic, and the resources available are to professional standard. Advantages: easy to find and convenient a good price for holiday inn
Disadvantages: bit dated but has a charm

..., the quality of the cooking was exceptional. we didnt add side orders and didnt need them in the end. one of the best meals i have had in ages for a set price. although i didnt use the leisure facilities they did seem to be popular from what we saw from the overlooking restaurant window. this may not suit all diners. we were made very welcome by the staff including courtesy calls. we did however observe one difficulty for disabled users regarding the breakfast as the comprehensive buffet is on a lower level again which means steps so many disabled would have to be served by the staff. this may be important to some but as i was accompanied by an able person this was not a problem for us. check out was equally quick. i certainly think it is a good hotel for its grading and would go to it again when in lancaster. my only gripe was that as a bacardi...

Basically, I had the contraceptive implant put in, I've put on so much weight and I'm trying to lose it now I've had the awful thing removed! I've never really been a fan of Penny Lancaster, well, to be honest I don't really know much about her so I couldn't really have an opinion. All I know of her is that she apparently married Rod Stewart and had his babies or suchlike.
