Altec Lansing UHP 306
Review of Altec Lansing UHP 306 by

Advantages: Great sound quality, strong cord, carry case
Disadvantages: Price
...After my Sennheiser CX 300's snapped a friend gave me his Altec Lansings.
At first they did take some getting used to as they are bigger than the CX 300s, I would prefer them slightly smaller. Background noise isn't a problem but initially you may find the silicone tips take a bit of wiggling about to get them to fit exactly if you want them to block out all background noise. You'll get used to the positioning very quickly so it won't be a problem for long. The noise isolation level is 16dB which as far as I'm aware is more than those of the CX 300 which I think is around 12dB. If you need more than 16dB there's also a Professional set which have a noise isolation level of 26dB and generally higher spec.
The cable is a cloth cable making the durability greater. The earphones also come with a pouch to store them in and several sets...

Is it really worth it?
Review of Altec Lansing 641 by

Advantages: Great speakers,amazing clarity,awesome quality.
Disadvantages: High price tag, no digital input.
...I bought these speakers a month ago and I think they are simply superb. The Altec Lansing 641 is a 4.1 speaker system , which means you get 4 satellite speakers and a subwoofer (4 +1 = 4.1, get it ?!) It is one of the high powered models of Altec Lansing created specifically for gaming. You can also use them as a glorified sound system by attaching them to your TV or CD player. The dual - ported subwoofer delivers deep, stunning bass with its 100 RMS watts. It should ideally be placed in a corner or under a table for optimum effect. The four speakers are no shirkers when it comes to the power department either, with each topping off at about 30 W. They exhibit great quality at medium frequencies and absolute clarity at higher frequencies. These speakers are definitely well suited for games as they give you realistic surround sound...

iPod speakers
Review of Altec Lansing IM3 Ipod speakers by
xxnatashaxx
Advantages: Portable and lightweight
Disadvantages: You have to be very careful with them.
...as the instructions don't tell you and if you put it in the wrong way it gets stuck in there!
5) A major design fault is the fact that when the speakers are charged via the batteries or mains supply it constantly charges your iPod and there is no auto-turn off to stop it doing this! I have found the more that my iPod is charged the quicker it runs out of batteries so I find this very annoying and unhelpful.
Customer Service
I can fault the design of the speakers but I cannot fault the customer service team at Altec Lansing. Every time I have rang the company they have been very polite and helpful to somebody who is on their fourth set of speakers and I have not had to wait hours in a queue listening to music with the occasional "please hold". Another plus is the fact that the call centre is not based in India and so you a helped by an experienced...

Review of Altec Lansing PowerCube Plus ACS48 by
darkteckno
Advantages: Value
Disadvantages: Can Distort
...The PowerCube speaker system is a 3-piece multimedia audio solution for your home or office personal computer that gives you power and performance at a tremendous value. Why settle for the limited output from a 2-piece system when you can step up to the powerful performance of the Altec Lansing PowerCube 3-piece system? I totally rate these speakers. I am glad that I have bought these. Altec Lansing have come up with a very good 3 piece set of speakers. At FULL volume there is very little distortion. However when you play with the bass and treble settings within Windows 98, it seems to a bit crazy (at high volumes). This is a great little speaker set, and I would reccomend them to a student, but I wouldn't mind something with even MORE power. Well Done Altec....

Wow. What a boom....
Review of Altec Lansing ADA 305 PC multimedia speaker system by
andycharger
Advantages: Great sound reproduction, clarity
Disadvantages: Speaker out connection.
...When I first came across the "2 speakers and sub" combination audio set ups for Computers, I figured it to be major overkill for the sound required.
That was before I realised what a difference great sound makes to gaming and audio playback when enjoying a multimedia experience on your home pc.
While the sound reproduction in my little Labtec speakers was very good, the Altec Lansing ACS 305 takes it to a whole new level.
To look at, the Altec Lansing ACS 305 is nothing spectacular. Produced in the traditionally matching Beige/grey as seen in most compatible computer equipment, it does blend in well with older PC designs.
It comprises of 3 main components. These are a Large Sub and 2 smaller Satellite speakers.
The square looking Sub is has a cloth grille on the front that discolours with age and can look untidy...

More Like a Hi-Fi With a PC Tacked On
Review of Altec Lansing 2100 by
BNibbles
Advantages: Snazzy design. Very compact. Excellent sound
Disadvantages: Quite expensive just for PC use. No other inputs limit their application
...and very stylish silver and charcoal aluminium-framed loudspeakers.
Of course, at this stage he forgot to mention the 50-watt floor standing sub-woofer (yes Sue M, it goes under the dog!), but even so, it was tempting.
So I got a set of my own – Altec-Lansing 2100 multi-media speakers, for just under £80. No doubt some Herbert will now tell me where you can get them for 50 quid, but no-one likes a smart-a***, and anyway, I’m not at home to Mr. Boastie, OK?
INSTALLATION
These truly do represent the real meaning of Plug and Play. You plug ‘em in and play ‘em!
The sub-woofer, which has its own built-in amplifier, is mains-operated. All low voltage wiring routes through here first. The stereo co-axial cable from the PC sound card’s output socket plug |
