I bought myself a used IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad T41 for £129 and although it's a pretty old machine (probably from 2004) and fairly low spec by today's standards, I still feel it was a bargain. This was from Cash Converters.
DESIGN
The machine, like all IBM (now made by Lenovo) notebooks are intended for business users and so the design is not particularly sleek but...

Has the Edge over other laptops...
Advantages: Lots of tools and features, security, good quality, fast and reliable
Disadvantages: More expensive than an Acer for example but way better and will last longer.
...I am a huge fan of Lenovo laptops and this is my third (and most recent one). I started on the humble R60 which now looks so little in comparison to the S430 but the Thinkpad has kept several design aspects true across most of their range making them very recognisable. When I think of features distinctive to Lenovo, I think of the fingerprint readers that are standard on many of their laptops...

The Lenovo ThinkPad T500 - The Ugly Duckling of the Laptop World
Advantages: extremely fast, stays cool, works with any OS, almost futureproof, upgradeable, robust and durable
Disadvantages: isn't the most beautiful
...The Lenovo T500 is, at first glance, a horrible laptop. I have never been fond of the ThinkPad series as their ugly looks always seem to become degrading and almost make the product seem old, even when it's brand new!
However, around six months ago I did choose to buy one, as the specification was outstanding.
The laptop comes with 4GB of RAM(although there is a cheaper 2GB model) which...
