...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Martha Leave Frank, Daniel and Laurence
Advantages: some funny scenes and a great Ray Winstone cameo
Disadvantages: the central characters are far too shallow
...in the UK, this may have something to do with the fact that he reserves her a room at a top hotel.
Martha, having met Daniel, goes onto meet Laurence (Joseph Fiennes) at the airport, they hit it off also (funny that, isn't it?) and he ends up giving her a lift back to the swanky hotel Daniel has reserved. One thing leads to another and they end up really liking eachother and planning another meeting.
Then Martha meets Frank (Rufus Sewel) who is another annoying stereotype of an out of work actor. Frank and Martha do not share the flirting that Martha and Daniel did, nor the sweetness that Martha and Laurence did, but for some bizarre reason she likes him too.
So they all like Martha and she likes them. Martha finds out that she has played them off against oneanother, and is disgusted with the way they all fight for her like a toy...

Dispelling the myths of the Da Vinci Code
Advantages: a factual analysis of theDa Vinci codes "secrets"

...It may seem as if a book such as the Magdalene Legacy is just an attempt to jump on the bandwagon of the success of Dan Browns work and the Da Vinci Code in particular. To a lesser degree and in terms of timing that may be true, but its author, Laurence Gardner, has been publishing books around such subjects for years. Its very probable that Brown is a fan of his work as he is an obvious source of information, along side the much more controversial and widely reported "Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent and co. So whilst the timing of the books release may seem to be a corporate strategy, it only seems that way because this book is the natural response to the hype of Browns work. Before the Da Vinci Code there was less of a need to set the record straight in the sensitive yet less than popular subject matter that is...

Advantages: good action packed film!
Disadvantages: nothing really new in it.
...Assault on Precinct 13 is a polished remake of the 70?s classic with Ethan Hawke as a good cop whose quiet new year?s eve at his run-down Detroit precinct turns crazy when a crime lord (Fishburne), put in the cells, is the target of an attack from masked gun-men. Criminals and Police unite in an attempt to fight against the ambush.

Laurence Anholt has been writing books for many years now and it's his wife Catherine who supplies the delightful pictures to go with the fantastic stories and wonderful rhymes. There are quite a number of books in this series about the cheeky chimps and this one won a gold award in the Smarties Book Awards in 2001.
***The Story***
The story starts with a hungry mother.
"Mumkey is hungry, but there are no bananas in the basket.
'Which little monkeys have eaten all the bananas?' she says.

...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so.
My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk.
Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. With Blockbuster?s things are different slightly ? which add a great deal of benefit to us the customer. Firstly, you get FOUR whole weeks free rental, which equates to at double the length of time most...

A place like no other!!!
Advantages: Fantastic book and very interesting

...This book was written by Laurence Rees, who is a highly acclaimed author and broadcaster. The book essentially accompanies the major TV series. The book was published to coincide with the sixtieth anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. It does provide a definitive history of the most notorious Nazi institution of them all- Auschwitz.
'Auschwitz' covers the growth of the camp and how it evolved from a concentration camp for Polish political prisoners into the site of the largest mass murder in history, where around a million Jews were exterminated.
Rees does examine the Holocaust in its broader context too, and argues that the camp played a uniquely important role as a institution in the Nazi state, which cumulminated in such a vital role in the Final Solution.
The book does examine the mentality...
