Lausanne - The Olympic Capital

Advantages: Great sports, great shops, breathtaking views, boat ride to Evian, calm and relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive trains, doesn't really cater for some food allergies such as coeliac

...As a keen traveller, Switzerland seemed a very appealing destination for myself but i didn't know how good it actually was until I arrived. I stayed a short drive from Lausanne which is located North of Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman as it is named by the Swiss). The nearest airport is Geneva, and Lausanne can easily be reached from here. Lausanne is a very beautiful city with some of the most breathtaking views over the mountains that you will ever behold. The first thing that hit me as I walked into Lausanne's centre was the Olympic Museum. If you are interested in sports, Lausanne is therefore the place to go. This Olympic Museum holds some of the most interesting and impressive Olympic memoribilia in the world. It is also the home to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a number of other sporting federations...

The Crown Of Switzerland

Advantages: Londoners perspective: beautiful, clean, orderly and different
Disadvantages: Londoners perspective: Expensive (yes even for me!)and a little small and quiet

...I have been to Geneva three times now because I have a friend who lives there. Otherwise I?m not sure it would have crossed my mind to visit. It?s certainly not one of those places on everyone?s must see list. Geneva is in Switzerland but is actually surrounded by France. It is a very unique city - a mix of European and British / American influences with people of all different nationalities settled there. And although the primary language is French most speak at least Basic English. Transport Getting to Geneva could not be simpler. Most budget airlines fly there, for example Easyjet have around three flights a day from London Gatwick. The flight only takes an hour and a half and as long as you don?t travel during the peak skiing season prices are really cheap (for example £10!). The airport is not far from the city centre...

Take a step off the tourist trail in Switzerland

Advantages: Beautiful medieval city, relatively cheap, lots to do, excellent transport links

Enchanting Switzerland

Advantages: A haven of scenic beauty
Disadvantages: nothing worth mentioning though language can be problem for english speaking tourists.

Supreme Switzerland!

Advantages: stunning
Disadvantages: pricey

...Switzerland is the ultimate holiday destination in Europe for those who want to see stunning scenery, wildlife and experience a unique culture. Switzerland is a great place for visitors for many reasons. For me, the ultra-efficient transport system allows accessibility to anywhere in the country. Transfers to resort are by train rather than coach as the system is so reliable and efficient. Zurich and Geneva both have train stations in there airports and English speaking assistance is always available. Weather: Spring/Summer: Switzerland is a few degrees Centigrade cooler than England, except the region next to Italy ? Tessin. In all other counties it is between 12 and 24 degrees during this seasons, in Tessin it is between 14 and 28 degrees. Autumn/Winter: This seasons are quite cool, especially in the skiing-regions (Davos, Arosa, Verbier, Nendaz are some of the biggest ? and dearest). Temperatures vary from minus 10 up to 10 degrees Centigrade. Languages: Switzerland may be very small, but it has four (!) official languages. A fun way to spend the weekend!

The range he sells are from a company called West Bank Timber Ltd and he said I could expect delivery within a week to ten days which was just perfect for me. I selected the Lausanne from the range with a single door size 2.4m square, it cost £754 plus VAT and he agreed to deliver it for nothing so I placed the order. Getting ready That gave me time to sort out a base for the Log cabin. It needs a sound level base and whilst I thought of a concrete base I was persuaded that perhaps 50mm thick paving slabs would be a better option and just as serviceable. Operating since 1994, it lists current available jobs in radio, tv and print media, recent news articles on all these forms of media and a discussion board. Now being a graduate in a degree of this field of work, the jobs board has been an interest to me for quite a while...but don't expect to find work instantly. Anything but. Copious numbers of people view these adverts (you can see how many exactly in the job listings), but don't let that deter you of course - if you're good and experienced enough then you'll come across the job for you eventually. ...Dictionary.com?! Dictionary.com?! Seriously?! Why, yes, something that seems so simply and basic has it's place on the World Wide Web (yes, I'm aware of the irony!), but fear not...it's not as basic as it seems! Rather than just typing in a word to discover its definition, dictionary.com does provide a far greater service. Since it's launch way back in 1995 (were websites even around then?!), it's one of the world's most popular services, as naturally many people will just type in 'dictionary.com' into their browser if they need to find the definition of a word...even if they don't know the website exists, it makes sense to have a crack at it! The website does provide a thesaurus option, translator and encyclopaedia...for anyone even contemplating steering away from Wikipedia, God forbid! But there are other quirks to the website...
