Lausanne - The Olympic Capital

Advantages: Great sports, great shops, breathtaking views, boat ride to Evian, calm and relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive trains, doesn't really cater for some food allergies such as coeliac

...As a keen traveller, Switzerland seemed a very appealing destination for myself but i didn't know how good it actually was until I arrived. I stayed a short drive from Lausanne which is located North of Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman as it is named by the Swiss). The nearest airport is Geneva, and Lausanne can easily be reached from here. Lausanne is a very beautiful city with some of the most breathtaking views over the mountains that you will ever behold. The first thing that hit me as I walked into Lausanne's centre was the Olympic Museum. If you are interested in sports, Lausanne is therefore the place to go. This Olympic Museum holds some of the most interesting and impressive Olympic memoribilia in the world. Review of Lausanne (Switzerland)

A fun way to spend the weekend!

Advantages: Easy to put together
Disadvantages: You need a dry day to build it

...Clarke Fencing, who had a rather nice log cabin as his office so I thought I might as well enquire close to home. Sure enough he did sell them and had details of the range he could get. The range he sells are from a company called West Bank Timber Ltd and he said I could expect delivery within a week to ten days which was just perfect for me. I selected the Lausanne from the range with a single door size 2.4m square, it cost £754 plus VAT and he agreed to deliver it for nothing so I placed the order. Getting ready That gave me time to sort out a base for the Log cabin. It needs a sound level base and whilst I thought of a concrete base I was persuaded that perhaps 50mm thick paving slabs would be a better option and just as serviceable. Review of Lausanne Double Door Log Cabin

Excellent Hotel, not far from Lakefront Ouchy

Advantages: Beautifully clean, excellent bathroom, nice balcony, good bed, location, price, parking, staff
Disadvantages: Current construction noise, average breakfast

...This smallish 'boutique' four-star hotel is in an excellent location, just a few blocks up the hill from the lake-side part of Ouchy. It was just a 10 minute walk down to the numerous restaurants and small shops down by the lake, where we went each of our three nights to eat (note, however, it's a longer 15 minute walk back up again!). Ouchy is lovely, and much nicer than the centre of Lausanne itself, which we found much busier and somewhat confusing. The train station, however, is only a 20 minute walk up the hill into the town centre, so the hotel really is located pretty well between the city and the lake. The room was beautifully appointed, with a good king sized bed (more likely, two beds pushed together) and plenty of shelf and wardrobe space all around, although not much drawer space otherwise. Just cop a feel of its rubbery knobs

Advantages: Very powerful, great quality sound, simplified features
Disadvantages: Menu can be a bit fiddly, slow to return the CD from its' slot

I decided to buy a CD player for my car because I was tired of cassettes continually being chewed up and retained by the previous monster machine I had. My budget was, quite simply, as low as possible, and I wanted to buy the best quality CD player that I could for my hard-earned cash. Why didn't I buy a CD changer? Well, quite simply - I didn't have the budget and I'm of the firm belief that you can only listen to one CD at a time, so you might as well have control over what you're listening to rather than being stuck to a certain 6 or ten which are in the boot behind you! An Unforgettable Alpine Experience

Advantages: Amazing views, great hostel, friendly locals, lots of activities
Disadvantages: Too relaxing - you may not want to leave!

Enchanting Switzerland

Advantages: A haven of scenic beauty
Disadvantages: nothing worth mentioning though language can be problem for english speaking tourists.

Advantages: Wonderfuly rich and complex whisky
