I love lavender

Advantages: Glorious smell
Disadvantages: There aren't any!

...As I have previously warned you I got lots of new toiletries for Christmas and the opinions will be coming along as I try each one in turn. I had two lots of Original Source shower gel ? one was the Orange and Grapefruit one, which hitherto had been my all time favourite of this range, and the other was the Tea Tree and Lavender, which I hadn?t yet tried. Mind you Dave knew he?d be on to a winner when he bought it, as I love anything fragranced with Lavender. He also knows that I am a great fan of all the Original Source products with the possible exception of the ones with the Pure Lime and Pure Lemon and Mint fragrances. These fragrances are just too strong for my liking. If you don?t know what I mean just try them and you?ll soon find out! Its A Lavender Scented Breakthrough!

Advantages: Foamy, Lasts Ages, Smells Lovely, Tea Tree Enhanced
Disadvantages: If You Don't Like Lavender It's Not For You!

...relaxing and it makes me so sleepy! Another thing that I really like about the whole Original Source range is the fact that their shower gels and shampoos etc are really foamy! I often exfoliate my skin using an exfoliating cloth and it is really good because the lather of the shower gel means that I can use the cloth easier and it also means that you do not have to use a lot of the product at once. Some shower gels which I use I tend to find smell lovely in the shower, while I am using them, however once you actually dry yourself you can't smell them anymore and it all seems a bit pointless. However I don't find this with the Original Source gels, I find that I smell of them quite some time after I have used them. This is obviously largely down to the fact that this company is very generous with sending out free sample sachets of its products. I have held off writing about any of them until now and I am only going to write about this one as it is my favourite of the five I have been sent and tried so far. The previous four samples I have received ? all shower gels ? were much of a muchness. All featured Tea Tree together with a citrus fruit or eucalyptus and weren?t really right for my skin type despite smelling nice and working well, but this one was different! Sex and Halloween, Lavender and Pumpkin

Advantages: smells very nice, very creamy and pleasant to use, leaves skin soft and moisturised, not too pricey, natural oils, may have some surprising properties
Disadvantages: smell may be too powerful for some people, but doesn't linger, so nice that you may use too much of it

lavender and versatility

Advantages: It has many uses this plant & has been used for many years in different ways
Disadvantages: none

...Having an allotment means hard heavy work and one of the best uses I have found for lavender is against carrot fly. We have a large allotment and every year we lose lots carrots to the fly, it is a real pest. I have found that picking the flower stalks of lavender and crumbling them over the ground after pulling up carrots stops the scent of the carrots escaping and the fly does not get into them. I have done this for 2 years very successfully and really look forward to good veggies now. Further uses of this plant is that it is supposed to help keep greenfly off the roses when planted nearby and it is a lovely sweet scented flower and gorgeous colour, well worth buying but it does go woody and needs to be replaced every couple of years. It does appear to seed itself though....
