.... With finances at an all-time low and having the hardly joyous task of informing 'er indoors', we had to find a mower that would now last - without breaking the bank. Something 'too good to be true' the wife screamed. But after a delicate process of elimination, I decided to have a crack at the Bosch Rotak 34 - a bold decision, especially after the comfort and relative ease of the Flymo's series for my entire home-owning life and I wasn't a big fan of my dads or anyone else?s seemingly big and clunky 'mowers on wheels'. But what a decision I ultimately made. Mowing the lawn as it says in this title has now become an enjoyable experience - seriously, I actually look forward to doing it! Sad you think? Review of Bosch Rotak 34 Electric Rotary Lawn

Green green grass of . . . my lawns!

Advantages: effective all in one lawn treatment, kills weeds and nourishes lawns
Disadvantages: could be better at killing moss, however does reduce moss re-growth

...I have to admit I am not an expert gardener and do the best I can to keep my lawns looking green and luscious, however over the last few months my lawns have deteriorated even though they have been feed and watered. There seems to be a bit of a competition where I live as to who has the best kept garden, with some people putting in fountains, fancy paving etc. I am not usually one to keep up with the Jones? but I felt our garden was letting the side down a bit, so needed to spring into action. I went to my local Wilkinson?s store as they have a good gardening section and picked up Wilko granular Feed, Weed & Mosskiller for lawns. The feed, weed & mosskiller costs £2.99 for a 1.75 kg box which treats 50 sq. meters (60 sq. yards) and is considerably cheaper than other well known brands such as Weedol, Miracle Gro and Bio-gro etc...

Recent purchase of Lawn KIng 484BS

Advantages: Easy start
Disadvantages: Failure to "pick up" all the cut grass

...I read several reviews after deciding i needed a new mower, my "Hayter" had worn out after 11 yrs . one of the big faults with this machine was its inability to pick up all the cut grass , some cuttings were "thrown out " side ways rather than into the collector. Having looked at several reports prices, makes,the best machine for my requirment i opted for the Lawn King R484 BS. The instruction were very good though i would question if they would be for someone who was not mechinacly minded i am a mechanic/engineer so it was not difficult for me. I have found this machine very dissapointing while it cuts ok i still have a problem with failure to pick up and clear all the cut grass again throwing the cut grass sideways. the chute seems to "fill up" easily i spent as long raking up the cut grass as i did mowing it...

Gets rid of all weeds on lawns

Advantages: Kills weeds, even thistles, without killing the lawn
Disadvantages: Pricey, and you need a lot of it

...I have (or had, I should say), loads of weeds on my lawn. They just spread like wildfire. I was desperate to get rid of the weeds as if I dug them all up separately I'd be there all day and would leave great big holes all over the garden. Having looked around in Asda I came across this product. I bought the spot spray (not pictured) rather than the pump spray. Basically, this product is supposed to be used on weeds in lawns. It is supposed to just kill weeds, not the grass. It is supposed to kill lots of different types of "broad-leaved" weeds, including buttercups, clover, daisies, dandelions, plantain and autumn hawkbit (according to the bottle). I don't know what the latter two are but I also used it on thistles. The bottle says you are supposed to use on a fine day when the soil is moist and the weeds are actively...

Now I know the plot for this film may seem very basic but there is so much more to the story with the addition of extra characters but I really don?t want to spoil it for anyone who has yet to see it. This one cost about £45 in the sale and was the cheapest in B&Q. ...the ground. It is supposed to hover a couple of centimetres of the floor, which I think it does with great effect. It is so easy to push, especially if you have a tropical jungle as a back garden! So no problems here. Now the front garden. Very easy to cut, and I only had to run over the grass once to give it a proper trim. My old mower demanded at least two goes at demolishing the grass in it's path - this beauty does it in one. The front garden is pretty much flat, so the mower wasn't exactly put to the test here. The mower even trims to the very edge of the lawn, unlike my old mower which required a strimmer to finish the job. I found this useful, as I don't have the time, patience or effort to keep repeating the same ritual over and over again. I would still recommend strimming though, for that professional lawn. A faultless performance...

Mind Your Dangly Bits

...If you like to visit large gardens or perhaps stately homes like Kew or Longleat you will always be amazed at the perfectly straight lawn edgings cut with a razor sharp precision. I was always taught by my grandfather to always mow the lawns first before attempting to cut the edges. The reason is obvious really as done the other way round the mower would press the grass over the edges that I would have just cut. I am a real traditionalist at heart and what I really craved for was a good old-fashioned pair of lawn edging shears. My body will one day have blended itself into the shape of a bent up old man which is excellent for pulling the dead buds off my flowers but hopeless for trying to cut a lawn edge with shears.
