It felt more like an eau de toilette than a perfume. It smelled nice but lacked that 'edge' or 'depth' an eau de parfum can give you, a real woody oriental that makes a statement of the wearer, a fragrance with lasting individuality. So what I wanted was an oriental with a difference. Knowing that in the past two years the fragrance shelves have been covered with synthetic patchouli smelling oriental clones, I thought this would probably mean that in order to find something that will be quite like Infusion d'Iris, it would probably be a fragrance marketed at some point in the 1990s...

Le Grand Parc, Tigers and Gladiators in France?!

Advantages: Unusual and brilliant spectacle
Disadvantages: Its all in French!

...We have travelled to the Vendee region of France several times and we had heard about The Grand Parc at Puy du Fou but it is billed as a Medieval Theme Park and it really didn't appeal to me! However having "done" many of the attractions in the area and faced with another day of dodgy weather (we were very unlucky in 2008) we decided to give it a go. The tickets were about 25 euroes for adults and 15 for children. However when I enquired about directions at our campsite office they told me that we could buy tickets from them with a 5 euro discount each. This seems to be common practice in the area so either book online or through your accomodation if possible to bag a bargain! They also informed me that it was a simple journey and would be well signposted off the A87. They mentioned that the road to The Grand Parc gets busy...

Puy Du Fou - summer 2007

Advantages: Amazing shows; attractive setting

...! There was no queue to get either the tickets or enter the park, this wasn't due to the lack of people, it was simply that they had sufficient staff available. We paid £55 for two adults and two children which seemed pricy, but when you realise that you do genuinely get a full days entertainment the cost is very reasonable. Musketeers; We headed off to the first show on which was the musketeers. It was located inside an amazing theatre - the only show of the day that is inside. There is a lot of talking by the actors to set the scene - pretty hard going if you don't have a headset which we didn't. Once the action starts though the words don't really matter because you'vre watching the fight scenes and then the horses in the courtyard which fills with water! Le musee DU Louvre

Advantages: its the louvre for goodness sake! you HAVE to see it before you die
Disadvantages: heating pretty poor, alot to see so need to really take time out for it

...of one of the courtyards looks a little strange as it is surrounded by such old and ornate buildings yet this is the entrance to the louvre. Once inside the vast interior is marble white and there is a comprehensive guide telling visitors what is available to view on each floor and three entrances the richlieu, sully and denon - like i said its absolutely massive and I wouldn't suggest seeing it all on one day, unfortunately we had only saved an afternoon for the visit so decide do a short cut and see the few thing we could that is - the statue venus de milo, the famous painting mona lisa (although it was protected by a glass case and rope all around and looked wholly unimpressive from my vantage point as well the anciet greek, roman and eqyptian artfacts.. There is a staircase as well as thankfully an elevator to all the floors...

"Dragon Tears" by Dean Koontz

Advantages: Great Theme and Characters

..."Dragon Tears" is not a novel for the timid. Neither is it for those searching for an easy read. You see, this horror novel by Dean Koontz, is slow paced and at times difficult to focus on. In it, you do find great and somewhat poetically descriptive writing. Yet sadly, the author concentrates too much on description and ultimately leaves us wondering why we should read on. Now, by no means is this novel void of anything good for it holds creative and intriguing characters. The thing is, it would have been nice to receive a story that went some were? rather than just ending up at a dead end. TASTE OF THE DRAGON

Advantages: unusual apperance, taste, texture

...similar to a pear. When I cut the Dragon Fruit opened I was quite surprised because it had lots of little black seeds inside it which look like the same sort of seeds you find inside a kiwi fruit. The flesh was really soft and juicy and also similar to a kiwi although the flesh inside the dragon fruit is white and not green. There are a few different ways you can serve the Dragon fruit. Having never tried one before I just cut it into wedges so as I could try it. Other ways of serving it are by cutting it in half and eating it with a spoon then discarding the skin. You can also cut it into chunks and mix it with other fruits and make a fruit salad. You can also make a smoothie with it or put it through a juicer to extract the juice.
