Le Mans 2005 DVD Review

Advantages: Length, good footage captured, great for those who were there
Disadvantages: Added on commentary always annoys!

...They say you either love it or hate it. Le Mans, that is. Well I was there in June 2005, watching this race. I was also there in June 2004, and June 2003, and...... OK, OK, so I'm a Le Mans nut. 2005 was my 20th consecutive visit to Le Mans - every year since 1986. And I run my own website for my photos too.... And I moderate a sportscar website.... So, I guess I have reasonable credentials for reviewing the DVD. The annual Le Mans highlights/review DVD was maded by Duke Marketing, a famous purveyor of motor racing (and other) videos and DVDs. The DVD has an excellent running time of 135 minutes, not quite up to the 24 hours itself, but it covers the full event, from the technical scrutineering of the cars and driver (!) which takes place during the week before the race, through...

Review of Le Mans 2005 (DVD)

LE-MANS 24-HOUR, then bin it.

Advantages: Commenty
Disadvantages: In game physics

...Le-Mans 24 hour has to be one of the worst racing games that I have played. I can defiantly say that I wouldn’t like to experience a 24-hour race in real life let alone on a computer game, I would though probably find myself throwing it away after the 24 hours. The racing cars and although there are quite a few don’t even seem to drive on the track realistically enough, and seem to be almost glued to the. You can keep the accelerator down or the accelerator button/key all the way around the track, going very fast around all of the corners without having and problems. This title can get relentlessly boring with the same old this lap after lap; it’s very easy, as you hardly need to use the brake button, this virtually takes all satisfaction out of the game. Review of Le Mans 24 Hours (PC)

Le Samourai

Advantages: Great Film
Disadvantages: Viewing Aspect ratio is Low

...Le Samourai There is a small bird in a cage in a dull looking apartment room, a man wearing a trench coat and a felt hat, and he goes out of the room and adjusts his hat. Jeff Costello (Alain Delone) then jumps into a car, with a set of master keys. He starts the car, and smokes a cigarette. Eventually he finds the right key by good luck and drives off. He then meets a criminal mechanic. The mechanic gives Jeff some cash, later goes to his pocket and gives him a gun. Here during this scene not a word is spoken. This film is low on dialogue though maintains a great sense of direction, pace and focus throughout. The suspense of each scene and the plot is amazing to watch. He then goes to a flat and meets a young woman who is named Jane (Anthoine Delone). She is a woman who is there to provide an alibi for Jeff. It does not...

...le cercle rouge Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, this film is similar to his previous film Le Samourai, in that there are good guys and bad, and there are the cops and robbers. The translation of the title meaning the Red Circle was based upon a Buddhist motto about those people who are destined to meet, eventually will. In this film the types of scenes included are an escaping prisoner, murder scene, police man-hunt, mob battles and an armed robbery to steal diamonds. The film starts off showing a German named train running through I would guess Paris. Though scene by scene the actors performances and directions really smartly executed and cool to watch. A charming town set in the heart of rural France

Advantages: The old town, welcoming people, quiet setting

The Expérience Cinématique that is Le Grand Rex

The $3 million Man

Advantages: Excellent acting, powerful story
Disadvantages: Dated now

...and powerful way. I thought that they portrayed the suffering of an autistic savant person very well and did not make the character out to be stupid or less of a man than he was. I thought that Dustin Hoffman who played Raymond did an amazing job and I am so glad that he won an Oscar for his performance. He managed to make me feel a whole different range of emotions, one minute I was feeling sorry for him as he was unable to take being out of his routine and the next minute I would be laughing at him for some silly story he was telling Charles. He really did the role justice and had me believing that he really was a sufferer. Tom Cruise played the role of Charles and at the beginning of the film I did not warm to his character as he was quite arrogant but after about half an hour I did start to warm to him and I liked how he managed to portray...

Man on wire - 1360 feet up over downtown Manhattan

Advantages: A compelling tale told with warmth and humour by those who lived it
Disadvantages: Unnecessary "reconstruction" scenes used over voiceovers

He was self-taught and had performed similar stunts at lesser altitude on Notre Dame and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. However his raison d?etre was to bridge the gap between the new twin towers in New York. What makes ?Man on Wire? work is the planning of the walk, as opposed to the execution. Petit himself referred to the walk as ?le coup?, and through meticulous planning, fortuitious connections and a few close shaves, the film explains how it all fell into place. The planning is similar to that for a heist ? there were many visits to the building and onto the roof of the towers before the fateful day to gain information. Get a 'Le Whif' of this!

...I love chocolate but I don't love the calories that I consume every single time I take a bite. I am constantly trying to keep trim but can't seem to control the 'Chocolate Monster' that lives within me.
