Rob Roy: Of Valor and Honor

Advantages: Strong performances by a talented cast
Disadvantages: A bit more gratuitous violence than you'd want young children to witness

...Note: Some plot details are disclosed in this opinion. Based on the novel by Sir Walter Scott, Rob Roy is the kind of movie that you just almost have to like. With a script that is largely unmarred by shades of moral gray, good is clearly good, evil is clearly evil, marital love and fidelity triumph over all challenges, and justice prevails at the end of the day. It is, in a word, wholesome. Toss in a healthy dose of standing stones, Highland lochs, and good Scottish scenery in general, and--well, you just about have to like this movie. ...? If not, this will surprise you, though personally I'm not over-keen on these two songs and would much rather hear him on his own material. In fact, this collection is so diverse that I find myself wondering how appropriate the title 'Love Songs' is. Especially when it includes his versions of 'Land of 1000 Dances' and 'Run Baby Run'. Roy Orbison sings Wilson Pickett and the Newbeats? Well, yes - and very well too. But love songs? Er, let's not split hairs. What I will register a (little) whinge about is the packaging. Several of these recordings are listed in the booklet as being © 1997 or 2000. Are they all remixes? ...I have travelled many times with AddLee, and on all occasions I have been thoroughly impressed by the proffesionalism and politeness of the drivers and customer service staff. When I booked my taxi I received an e-mail on my Blackberry and then once a driver was allocated a text message. When my taxi was outside (on time - early infact) I received another text with the cars details and registration, and the drivers mobile number should I need to contact him. I left my house and the driver was dressed in a shirt and tie and opened the door for me, which for a minicab was very unexpected. The driver was very polite and properly (also unusual for a minicab) All the cars are either VW Sharans or Ford Galaxy MVP's - all under 2 years old and are all a sleek black colour and clean. ...As like all my other reviews I like to say something before I begin. Roy Keane has just come back to the Irish national side after two years in exile thanks to Mick McCarthy in my opinion a man who couldn’t organise piss up in a brewery. The new Irish manager Brian Kerr well done to you.
