Advantages: Excellent self-service breakfast. Clean rooms and good facilities.
Disadvantages: Rooms are a bit too small generally. Bit expensive.

..., and would perhaps not suit those who like their tea strong (like me). Nonetheless, for the money, an unlimited supply of breakfast is certainly impressive. Unfortunately there is no cooked items, so those who fancy a fry-up might be disappointed. The staff service is good also, refreshing towels and sheets on a daily basis, whilst giving the whole room a wipe over whether necessary, and the staff are polite and friendly. In the evenings the bar is also open, serving a range of beverages until 1am every night. There is also a couple of computers that provide internet access. So to summarise, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Leeds, this is the place for you. It is also only a 5 minute walk from the city centre, so the local amenities are within reach. If you are driving, although they discourage this, there is ample parking space...

Good Hotel to Stay in City Center but...

...I booked this hotel for my stay in Leeds as I wanted to stay in the city center. I have been staying in various hotels, so I had some expectations from this one as well. When you want to choose any hotel, you have few criteria in mind. I would like to write on the criteria I had in my mind, so you can take this review as per your need. Quality of hotel service: It was satisfactory, not exceptional but not bad too. Condition or maintenance of the hotel: When I entered the hallway, I sensed a weird smell (like the one when the area is closed for long time), the breakfast sitting area was clean BUT, the cutlery was not clean. I had to wipe the spoons and forks I used. They clearly were not cleaned properly. Cleanliness of room: but the rooms were maintained alright. The bathrooms were clean, but you don't get to see posh bathrooms...

...on what you can do in Leeds. We came back from our day in the city centre and went to have a shower and decided enough was enough it was too hot. So we called hotel reception and someone was sent up pretty quickly with a thermometer. She tested the water and agreed that yes, it was too hot. She went back downstairs and the manager called us to offer a room move. Only problem was the hotel had been going through a makeover and our new room hadn't been made over yet but it was the only twin room left. We decided it was worth it and said goodbye to our room and headed up to a new one. The new room was laid out pretty much the same as the one downstairs but was just older and not as stylish. They had insisted the new room was non-smoking but after a few minutes in the room we definitely could smell smoke. We consoled ourselves...

She wanted to find a hotel that was both reasonably priced, so that people could afford to stay there without re-mortgaging their house, and city centre based so that we didn't have to walk far or pay ludicrously expensive taxi fares to get to the bars we were going to. After researching the possibilities, she chose the Ibis (an 168 room budget 2 star hotel), as it is half a mile from the city centre and double/twin rooms only cost £49.95 a night, so it meant we could all stay over for the very cheap sum of £25 each. Cost Cost is always my prime consideration when making any purchase so I was delighted with the price of £27 per person per night for a twin room at the Holiday Inn Express, especially given the poor Euro exchange rate for tourists. Lovely Leeds

I have lived in more rural areas, out of town suburbs, studentville, and even dabbled in some almost city living. It's one of those cities that has been experiencing a boom over the last twenty or so years, overtaking the other cities of West Yorkshire to become the largest, and arguably most successful. Traditionally it really began to develop as a municipality from the beginnings of the industrial revolution, being at the centre of the woollen industry, and has a long history with textiles. Just look at how Marks and Spencer began! Nowadays, it has hard to class Leeds as one thing in particular - different areas all function as independent towns whilst being part of the larger Leeds - and with most cities has it's share of division. Perfect place to stay for a night out in Leeds!

Advantages: Great location and good value for money
Disadvantages: Parking!

...and it had quite a nice atmosphere. Staff - Staff were all friendly and with not knowing leeds that well provided us with a map and a list of recommended places to go for a night out! Location - It is about five mins walk from the station but beware Leeds has a one-way system in the city centre and it is easier said than done driving to it! Also the hotel has a carpark but it is very small so there are no guarentees of a space. If there are no spaces the nearest carpark is a NCP at the station. This only costs about £3 a day at the weekend but it is a lot more expensive during the week and the cost of parking is not refunded by the hotel. It is also only about 5 mins walk into the centre of Leeds and to the shops. Price - We got a good deal over the Internet for the weekend with a room rate of £55 a night. However, I think...

If you just fancy a snack, a few doors down from the hotel is 'Pizza M Slice' serving the best (yep you've guessed it) pizza in the city. A must try. If you are travelling to Amsterdam by car (not recommended) the hotel has arranged a 15% discount off parking fees at a car park a few minutes away. Parking is very expensive in the city, and as the public transport is excellent and the majority of attractions are close by, a car really is not needed. For those of a sporty nature there is a modern fitness centre 20 meters from the hotel, where, in cooperation with the fitness centre, there is a discount for guests.
